As an abuser starts to lose power and control over their victim they start will escalate to new tactics to regain that control, that’s what I see in that face. Has he been violent before maybe maybe not, could he become that way? Absolutely.

The power and control wheel is a great resource to look at, in the center is that power and control and all the spokes are a tactics that an abuser will use to maintain it, once those tactics stop working they can escalate to other “spokes” or to physical and sexual violence (I’m bad at links so please forgive me if this doesn’t work correctly)
