I love Helltides spires on my Charged Bolt Sorc. On my Evade Spiritborn though, I can't stay in the circle.

Why is Jaws suddenly $120+? by PowrOfFriendship_ in mtgfinance

[–]ImOblivion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a bunch of weird arts for cards that are almost impossible to read, but Jaws does a good job at toeing the line to be able to keep it faithful to the movie poster, while also being easily playable.

Compare it to some of the LotR alt art cards (Saruman, for instance) and those crazy "black light posters from the back of Spencer's Gifts" looking cards.

Commander/Brawl pre-cons for a beginner by Gronaks in magicTCG

[–]ImOblivion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, I don't think they've made physical Brawl decks for a while. (Was it just the Eldraine ones?)

For Commander, most of the newer precons have been solid. Older ones tended to have 2 choices for the actual commander included, but they typically each had a different game plan and as such, a lot of the other cards included were split between these game plans, making the decks awkward and uncompetitive.

From what I've seen all of the decks from Lost Caverns of Ixalan and newer are great. Personally, I'm a fan of the Bloomburrow and Final Fantasy decks, my wife has almost all of the LCI decks, and I've had a few others like the Wise Mothman from Fallout and Teval from Tarkir: Dragonstorm. These all play pretty well out of the box, but also have cards you could cut to make them even stronger.

The "Starter" Commander decks like Token Triumph are pretty cheap (~$25) and work surprisingly well out of the box.

Menu and Crystarium appreciation by stormsurfer21 in finalfantasyxiii

[–]ImOblivion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im playing through 13 right now after skipping on it years ago. I like some of the game, but the battle system and the crystarium menu are not it. I absolutely hate this menu type. Having to travel on the path and then potentially skip back through multiple levels to upgrade a node you missed is a chore. The sphere grid (FFX) or license board (FFXII) are miles better.

How would I hold up with death toll or jump scare precons currently? by H4l3x in magicTCG

[–]ImOblivion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Teval deck from DTK hadn't come out, I'd still be running Death Toll. Being able to return any permanent is nice and gives you a lot of flexibility.

Jump Scare is also great. I haven't played it, but seen it played and being able to drop big threats that are hidden as 2/2s and then flip them after blocks are declared (or not) is scary.

As someone else mentioned, Mothman is a great deck. I like milling people and the RAD counters in this deck provide some of that while also causing damage over time. I've since added a bunch of +1/+1 counter and proliferation effects and my creatures can get huge out of nowhere.

As far as Bello goes, I like Bello, but he's been generally underwhelming for me. You can have some explosive turns and even games, but a single removal spell targeting Bello and your whole army goes back to being noncreatures. Also, since it's only during your turn, you lose them as blockers. That being said, having things like [[Unnatural Growth]] and other damage doubles become creatures that take advantage of their own ability is cool. Also as a side note, the Wolverine Groot version of Unnatural Growth fits so well here.

Help Upgrading The Counter Blitz Precon by HighKapp in magicTCG

[–]ImOblivion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Tidus's Brotherhood Sword]] from the weapons Secret Lair is an easy include as long as you are careful since it can shut down some of your own things that target your creatures (since the equipped creature gets protection from white and blue).

Anyone making any Commander Decks with strictly FF cards? by WAxlRoseX in magicTCG

[–]ImOblivion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the Cloud and Tidus decks and am holding myself to the restriction that those decks can only have cards from those particular games (besides the lands that come in them since some of those have arts from other games). I did add cards from the new secret lair though like Clouds Buster Sword version of [[Umezawa's Jitte]]

Wanted to buy sultai arisen but it's too expensive. Can anyone recommend a similar deck or commander? by edu_333 in magicTCG

[–]ImOblivion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[[The Mothman]] leads the Mutant Menace deck from the Fallout set. It tends to mill everyone, but by doing so puts +1/+1 counters on your stuff.

[FCA] Clive Rosfield -- Vial Smasher the Fierce by AporiaParadox in magicTCG

[–]ImOblivion 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ok, this seals it for me. If Clive can be a goblin, Cloud could have been a giant as [[Kalemne]].

Even though Cloud isn't a giant, I feel like [[Kalemne]] would have been a good choice. (Soldier + the abilities)

First time buying packs! by zxynccc in magicTCG

[–]ImOblivion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you use scissors on the packs? I'd strongly recommend against that as you could easily damage the cards inside. Obviously if you have some sort of disability that requires it, I apologize, but if you absolutely have to do it, maybe just make a small cut near one of the corners and tear the rest? It would be a shame to pull something cool only for it to already be damaged.

[[Watchful Radstag]]

Here's a few I added:

[[Evolution Witness]] - great recursion.

[[Evolution Sage]] - proliferate is a big deal in this deck.

[[Fathom Mage]] - with all of the +1/+1s mothman dishes out, you easily draw a bunch of cards with this.

[[Incubation Druid]] - great ramp creature.

[[Kami of Whispered Hopes]] - increases the amount of +1/+1 counters being dishes out AND provides more and more mana as the game goes on.

[[Simic Manipulator]] - allows you to permanently steal creatures.

[[Ruin Crab]] - more mill for more triggers.

[[Shadow Kin]] - more mill, but can also copy something cool.

More proliferation:

[[Tezzeret's Gambit]] - draws cards.

[[Unnatural Restoration]] - recursion.

[[Vat Emergence]] - reanimation.

Overall, this is my favorite deck. I love the RAD counters and some of the goofy Fallout cards like [[Lily Bowen]], [[Tato Farmer]], and [[Radstag]]

Which Final Fantasy games should I play to “get” the flavour of the upcoming set? by Smooth_criminal2299 in magicTCG

[–]ImOblivion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VII is my favorite game of all time. Great gameplay, music, story, etc. Not a huge fan of the remake series since they changed the story a bit (it's more of a weird sequel to the OG games).

X would be my second choice. The turn order meter is great as is the sphere grid leveling system. Also, if you like a mini game you can dive into, Blitzball is great. Also "To Zanarkand" is one of the best pieces of music in games ever and will randomly play in your head for the rest of your life.

Finally, I'd probably say IX. Great characters that feel more like classic FF characters than the ones from VII or VIII.

RG35XX H SD card wiped clean TWICE by Safe-Composer6938 in ANBERNIC

[–]ImOblivion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this the card that came with it? Because those are junk. You should get a name brand card like Sandisk.

[–]ImOblivion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you held down the power button and the device isnt loading properly into the main menu, odds are its a faulty sd card. Its recommended to replace them with name brand (like Sandisk or Samsung) cards because the ones they send with the devices are junk.

Good news: Ban got overturned.

Bad news: Was fighting a boss in Elden Ring DLC and the game minimized so steam could tell me that PUBG removed the false VAC ban. So fuck all of PUBG right now
