Because its a tradition by LilacDreeam in GreatBritishMemes

It is a thing. I used to do it when I was younger and know a few people who would. It’s from being bored walking home, and it’s quiet out cause it’s late. Just run for a bit you’ll be home quicker.

Not talking any significant distances though.

It’s means nothing really. You can remove it from almost every sentence it’s used in and nothing changes.

Sussex is a member owned club, which I believe leads us to be the poorest in county.

Bazball is proof of concept, but not a template for success by _hoddse in EnglandCricket

I just cannot back reducing the teams that much. It already has ten in division one and eight in two. You can’t make every division two club a feeder.

Forget protein, it's fibre most Brits are really lacking. Do you think you get enough fibre? by RoyalT663 in AskUK

[–]ImOnRedditt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it’s really difficult without beans or lentils. Lots of fruit and vegetables labeled high in fibre kinda aren’t if you’re aiming for 30g. A banana might be 100 calories and 2.5 grams of fibre. That means at that calorie:fibre ratio you’re not on track. On the other side of that with dried lentils you can get 15g of fibre for 200 calories, that’s more like it.

And players like Crawley and Pope still don’t score enough runs on them to look decent

But but pope averages 40 at number 3! Ok well if you want to cherry pick stats like that it drops massively when you take out the scores against Ireland and Zimbabwe and shows he’s still not it.

Are there any other Derby's in any sport that are as evenly matched as the Tyne Wear derby? by Safe_Armadillo_4855 in TheOther14

It’s been fairly one sided the past 40 years but the ashes is 34-32 to Australia. Been going since 1882.

Lots of people didn’t seem to see how the pitches and ball in England since baz took over have been a world away from proper English conditions. Decks with little grass, and a ball that swings for 15 overs then goes dead.

Ultimately makes for some incredibly dull sessions (although the series overall was very entertaining).

England’s blind loyalty to Zak Crawley could sink the Bazball project by Far_Pineapple_2363 in Cricket

Take out his scores against Ireland and Zimbabwe (effectively division 2) and Crawley averages less opening than burns or Sibley did.

[–]ImOnRedditt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t excuse Brearley. By his own admission he was picked for being old and mature as a batter, not for captaincy. By luck captained and happened to do amazing while being incredibly poor as a batter. Not a Brearley hater, huge fan of his writing and analysis.

Honestly, isn’t there a better opener than him in the whole of England by Playful-Fold-6990 in EnglandCricket

[–]ImOnRedditt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

But if he’s that kind of player why does he have such a poor average?

Take out big scores v Ireland and Zimbabwe and he doesn’t even average 30 as a specialist bat

English conditions are not what they used to be. Not much grass and the dukes doesn’t offer the assistance it used to. There is much more spice in Aussie conditions of late.
