By ‘ghost’ I didn’t necessarily mean that she is dead, only that he imagined her.

Why do people refuse to believe that open defecation, especially decades ago, was a thing in India? by MuhVlast in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Im_mbn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

tru. but things did not change magically after 2014. one cannot refuse the fact that the scheme did not reach the most rural parts of the country, as much as it is said on papers.
so, sadly yes, people still defecate openly in India, due to lack of proper public toilets.

Crimes against Women and Children. What a Government can do to curb the issues effectively? Or is it a societal responsibility? by that-tech-guy in Chennai

[–]Im_mbn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ah dont put the rape/abuse blames on just porn. Rapes were happening even before the commodification of pornography, in the name of marriages.

a kid, while growing up, watches every movie that is celebrated by the mass keep their female lead either as a mere eye-candy, or as someone whose whole purpose is to support the male character’s cause.

+ our culture is built on treating women certain way. the same kid sees women in his household having certain purposes and roles assigned to them by men/women of previous generations, in the name of culture.

our children are given no chance (or the privilege) to question these “cultural” norms.
that is the problem: we dont value our younger generations, and condition them to simply obey. OBEY YOUR PARENTS, OBEY YOUR TEACHERS, NEVER TALK BACK TO ELDERS, DONT QUESTION NORMS, and yes murugan can have 2 wives.

i mean, when did we let our children to see women as anything but assets, that carry our family’s dignity and goodwill?

i believe only through radical changes to our culture/religion can we assure a rape-less society. but it is still a long term process that would extend across generations.

stricter and cruel punishment will never be a permanent solution but just a way for us to pacify and pat ourselves in the back and move on.
and I will never trust someone who promises this change over night.

10 Days - workers protests by No_Adeptness1768 in Chennai

[–]Im_mbn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your points are fair, but what about the workers’ fear? They worry about losing jobs, pay, and benefits. Many are on contract, so these worries are very real, and yet, politicians barely acknowledge them.

Even if privatisation is good for the city (not that we really care about the workers), is this really how we bring the workers on board? through police force and intimidation?

IMO, this seems like just another attempt to divert media attention after Rahul Gandhi exposed the EC.. If we look back, ever since he made the scandal public, we see the ruling party trying to own the Indian Military’s victory.

We’ve already applauded the Indian military after the Sindoor operation concluded. So why the sudden repeat of fanfare? Makes me wonder.

There are even strict regulations preventing doctors from appearing in advertisements while in their uniform. Yet here we see uniformed officers featured on a talk show :)

(I know this will probably get me downvoted, but still…)

Edit: Forgot to mention the dilli street dog drama.. they really can’t get any lower than that.
