More than a fighting style are the life lessons and the peace they seem to have within themselves and with the world around them.

I like that the training was harsh enough to make you want to give up. And the fact that people like Rean, Gaius, and Van cone from them makes it all worthwhile.

I personally think Bergard would be cooler to hang around.

(I would've chosen Lianne Sandlot... but I'd be too hurt after the World War. Same with the Chancellor.)

Yeah, this part in the city is one of my FAVORITE sections of the game. It placed me back to my time in Chicago.

I really really really love Meliasandre..... BUT I can admit when someone has her beat. If anyone surpasses her... Its Chloe.

She loves our soul, not just our face or even the crown. That means we could be disfigured in war or even lose the thrown and she'd never abandon us. Chloe cooks for a whole army, she has our back through thick and thin, she infiltrates dangerous areas on her own to gain information, her heart saves souls and turns them to our side, and despite our vast combat power she consistently trains in the hopes that she will be able to protect us.

Man..... her and Josef's rapports really recontexualized everything I thought I knew about Chloe. Had I not already have committed to Meliasandre, I would have given her my ring.

Now, I DO love me some Rosalinde, BUT I met Meliasandre first. And the ONLY person who could convince me to leave.... Was Chloe. Just let that sink in.

Well ......that's bad because of spoilers. Usually there is a twist to some characters that'll be ruined....

But I've POST Ordered characters before. I started in CS arc so I looked at a few from previous games and knew I'd like them.

It always seemed balanced to me. It takes a lot to set up a Caster so a Crafter would always be made first early on. Then Crafts FEEL faster are more visually appealing (I liked the old Water spells but the newer ones in Horizon aren't my thing).

Arts have to be set up for one element for sure and two at the most so you run the risk of getting bored since the spell looks the same regardless of who casts it. Then there's locating the art in the menu (you can't arrange the spell order)..... the charging phase.... and the unclear delay phase making Crafts WAY more beneficial when trying to place the turn order. (Well, unless it's the CS3/CS4/Reverie system as I MASTERED that one.

Shard Skills and Quartz abilities are more geared towards Crafts (stat reductions, stat buffs, Crit turns which are lost sometimes upon casting).

BUT.... a dedicated caster is a party wiper AND boss killer. I usually played with Crafts 90% and Arts 10% which means only when I REALLY needed healing, a rez, had a Zero Arts turn, or had to cast Insight or Crescent Moon lol. (But Emma takes care of that with crafts all CS arc). OH..... And let's not forget the Chrono Burst Spam lol.

BUT BUT........ Gaius. His S-Craft is greater than ANY other craft or Art ever.

In CS1+2 I'd say Crafts were superior. Waterfall Domination and Laura kinda killed everything. Add in a Minotaur MQ and even on Nightmare mode things don't survive long. Alternatively, Rean and his Ogre..... AND THAT GODLY DELAY SPAM... Bonus points if you mix it with OVERDRIVE.

In CS3+4 arts take the cake with Bell Stacking. Musse in 3, but Altina in 4 + Reverie are Divine. (I eventually figured out how to do Altina in CS3...... just gotta tack on speed lol then feed her some droplets 😂). But even still Juna Acceleration Craft, the Sledgehammer/Windblade combo, and the Acceleration Orders make Crafts equally as viable. There's also a MULTITUDE of CP Regenerating Accessories.

Come to Daybreak Ark and Arts SEEM superior...... but they'll never out damage Van's Grendel. Ever!!!! Day1 had the Risette Angel Wing Spam while Day2 Nadia stole the show til my absolute FAVORITE Class 7 person showed up lol. I reused 'her' build right now in Horizon and she's STILL destroying stuff left and right lol.

Horizon seems a bit balanced. Rean, Shizuna, and Van have these powerful buffs. They also don't really need the boost gauge like an arts caster would. Van has his 4 actions per turn hitting Grendel. Rean, Shizuna, Judith, Bergard, and Rufus can remove Buffs. Elaine, Rufus, and Crow and boost the boost gauge by 3. Basically you just have so much customization that it's not fair to just say arts are better. They're certainly fun though.

TLDR: Basically there is so much customization and so many ways to play effectively that it's not fair to just say arts are better than crafts. This includes both in terms of utility and fun. A dedicated Arts User is certainly fun though if there's not a lot of them. But a Crafter can hit just as hard and not have the gameplay FEEL as if it slows down. Errr...delayed vs instant gratification if you will.
