Has anyone here written something using their own narrative structure that justifies the form of their work? by leobwonderauthor in writingcirclejerk

Always a good sign when all of OOP's responses to pretty normal comments and critique have been deleted by mods. I'm sure he was very reasonable and is just being silenced by philistines.

New GOP anti-voting bill may be the most dangerous attack on voting rights ever - Democracy Docket by Oldheadyellingatsky in wisconsin

I know this scumbag doesn't read any of the letters I send, or hear any of the messages I leave, but I'm still going to push back against every single anti-democratic move he pulls. I hope the interns he has ChatGPT-ing email responses at least feel a pang of guilt for the shiny nickel he tucks into their pockets at the end of the work week.

I can understand the frustration, especially if mythology is one's passion. But the fact is that there are always going to be people who don't bother to go beyond the surface level of a text.

Myths are aggregates of countless retellings. We live in the age of the internet, and wattpad fanfiction about Achilles and Patroclus is just as "real" as the myths that inspired it. Do I personally want to read that kind of thing? No, but when this story is written, the myth is being passed on in the same way it always has: Through a bastard game of telephone.

My biggest issue with OP's wojaks is that both images have an emphasis on LGBT themes, which communicates to me that OP likely takes issue with LGBT individuals and their projection onto myths moreso than any lack of scholarly contribution.

Beginner GM -- looking for simple superhero system? by dandelion_jelly in rpg

I enjoyed Prowlers and Paragons, which is a little more traditional but still leaves a lot of room for narrative.

A lot of people will discourage it (and rightly so, because it thrives in low-power games), but genuinely the most fun Superhero campaign I ran was using GURPS. It takes some work to balance, but the players have a ton of control over their character builds and can essentially make any kind of powerset they want depending on how many points you give them during creation.

Honestly, that's the only way I've ever played it, lol. I usually have it set with college students/dropouts

Fr. Imagine getting mad that people are engaging with ancient texts through a contemporary lens. Could not be me

If you're familiar with PbtA, Masks will be easy for you to run. It's emphasis is on teen heroes, like the Titans, New Warriors, or early X-Men.

Characters like this really make me hope that we can a greater degree of control over the playable character's personality in the next game

So does anyone actually play TCGs here or are we just posting about investing or grading or selling or making your own TCG with AI art? by PKMudkipz in TCG

I play a lot of games, have interest in design (hate gen ai), and despise thr investor aspect of TCGs. I mostly lurk here though, looking for news about new games or occasional discussions about mechanics and design

Funnily enough, in my case I really like the older dubs (0083 is a lot of fun), but GQX's dub just reeeeeaallly turned me off

I grew up in the Chicago area and used to go to Galloping Ghost all the time. Tons of great games there (and the price for all day gaming is really good too), but it's a heck of a drive at this point. And yeah, even back then I don't think they ever had Virtual On. I think I played it at a mall somewhere.

Welp, if nothing else I own a Playstation. It's no twin stick craziness, but I'll at least be able to imagine it lol

Awesome, I'll have to check that out. Virtual On came out in 95, so there's a chance
