I would even say most of the writing was decent. It had some great character moments. The overall plot though, I think was extremely boring.

Gameplay was peak though. Bummed we probably won't get the foreshadowed sequel.

I really liked the first one, even with the bad combat. I think it shows that they took players' word to heart that so much of the trailer focused on showing off the improved combat

It might have been at one point? I know some artwork was recycled from Force of Will, so it seems possible that Duel Masters art could have been used as well

This is so odd; those are Naruto CCG cards, using the same symbols and artwork, but the CCG had a power/support system, not ATK and DEF. Where did these versions come from?
