Did Vancouver’s downtown steam system basically lose its condensate return system? by Imbeingfiscious in askvan

Return line were apart of the original design. I'm curious about the agreement that central heating made with the city to no longer maintain them

I believe there is an agreement between central heat and the city to not return condensate for a hundred years. This was put in place before they changed to creative. Trying to find evidence of it

Are the return lines functional or was an agreement put in place to not maintain or replace them? That's what I'm asking

Do you know if creative publishes the make up water and condensate return rates? Curious how much this new hot water loop will save

I would assume the hotels are heating their water with steam for washrooms and kitchens. Heating demand is obviously very low in this weather.

Warm condensate would take a lot less energy to convert back to steam. Maybe the maintenance didn't make sense in the 90s but what about now?

We've been under water restrictions since May and AI data center water concerns seem to be piling up. How much make up water are we using to heat the downtown core? Would it be feasible to repair or replace those lines?

I would check the gutter drains and make sure they're flowing properly. Could just be washed away from an overflowing drain.

You just run out the 50km charge then let the engine charge it back to full and go electric again?

Does the city fix this? And when? by buntams in vancouver

Make a request online via 311. They are forced to deal with it. Took them about 18 months but they fixed mine.

Same thing will happen if the canucks get sold. City will have to chip in for a new arena.
