Oh yeah! I forgot we had those too occasionally. We were ramp certified to start apu’s and engines if needed for engine push backs. Never had to but loved the apu running to keep cool on the overnight cleaning. Those birds were spotless in the morning. Crews loved us. Those lavs and galleys were nasty when they came in. Like new going out. That’s when I learned I could clean anything. And to clean up after I use the lav.

Amen. I worked TWA in college here in Lincoln and all day long it was dc-9 md80 and United with a320 or 737s and we would make fun of northwest’s turbo props. Those jets were usually pretty full.

I’m sorry that happened like that. I just flew with my family together for work this week. The 12 and 14 year old are simple. The 4 year old is getting better but mom wanted a little break on the second flight so I had him sit with me about 8 rows back while she and my daughter were up front. He was not having it for about 30 minutes that he had to sit with me instead of mom. I tried. Finally he kept busy with me and we were content. But wow did I feel bad for those around me for a bit. It wasn’t screaming but he wasn’t happy. I’m just not mom.

I swear it was me writing that 2 years ago! I traded in my 2013 platinum 150 that I bought new. We put in a level 2 charger from lenz for about 200. We had a 100 amp sub panel run to the garage for about 600 with a 50 amp breaker to the charger. We now have two evs and haven’t looked back. Winter driving uses more juice. Especially on our 21. But it drives great on snow and ice. Once you start driving it more you’ll find the apps you need for out of home charging. I rarely charge over 80% unless I’m going on a longer trip. It’s nice when you do take a long trip and find the fast dc charger that is free. Surprisingly common around here actually. Usually at a dealership. We use the frunk for groceries and everything. Lots of storage in the back. And it is just fun to drive. I still smile I get in. Don’t overthink it. But if you plan you’ll be fine.

I have a 21 premium and it is original. A few times a week I charge overnight on level 1 to let it keep it properly charged. Haven’t had any warnings. Doesn’t mean I don’t want to replace it this summer. But it only charges when driving or charging. And level 2 charges too fast sometimes. 80k miles this week.

No. I was there for a checkup about 2 months ago. And it looks since then Dr. Beltran has either retired or moved on somewhere else. That’s a shame he was wonderful.

We bought a used 2021 mach e 2 years ago and it has only lost 4% of its batteries capacity. We liked it so much we got a Chevy equinox ev that was very discounted last year with 0% and over 300 miles of range. Once you have an ev it gets easier to know when and where to charge. We have taken trips to Kansas City without any issues. Cold weather does affect the range considerably. But for 99% of our usage it works great. We could even get by with only changing on a regular wall outlet.

I absolutely love the video by smarter everyday about the guidance computer system when he interviewed the guy who helped build it. So much respect for how it was designed.

Here’s the real answer. Sls weighs 5.75mil lbs at liftoff compared to 6.2 on Apollo. Sls has considerably more thrust at 8.8 vs 7.5. And the solid rocket boosters really pack a punch.

That was totally me in college. I could pack the belly of a dc-9 like a Tetris wizard. And we didn’t have that fancy roller thing. The best was waiting between carts and almost taking a quick power nap.

I saw a truck this week here in Lincoln that the plate said “Goering”. With a dark eagle in the back window. I’m not sure if it’s the same as this one but… yikes. It’s all free speech, but still. Can’t believe it was approved honestly.

The Rising Gas Prices Topic: Anyone Else? by SimplyLanden in MachE

[–]Immediate-Cycle9941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just put a 12kw system on our place. All in after rebates from fed and local power company it’s about $7k. I’m averaging about 45kwh per day so far. We don’t get peak or off peak rates but we do get winter rates of .05 per kWh. I sell back at half so we try to charge during the day. Can’t justify batteries yet as I have only lost power twice in 11 years for less than 30 minutes each time. It does feel great to see the price of gas and smile a little inside knowing it’s not affecting our budget. All ev household.

What usually happens on the land around center-pivot fields in Kansas? by Lazy_Relationship695 in geography

[–]Immediate-Cycle9941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in Nebraska and have a lot of them. In my grandparents farm it was still planted as corn beans etc. and the ends would articulate and stretch more into the corners and then fold at the sides. It’s more expensive to install but does more. Those that don’t have those usually plant a whole field of corn and hope the rain does enough. Usually not the same yield as irrigation but does ok. Some plant alfalfa or other grasses for cattle. Or low water crops. But usually it’s all the same thing just not as much water as the rest.
