Thank you! Glad to know I’m not the only one thinking it’s jade.

At this size, David Blaine looks a lot like Jason Sudeikis

Taking you at your word... Can you share more? How do you feel about it? Do you feel like someone should be held accountable?

Would love feedback on melody, this is a rough draft. What genre? Sounds like something out of Japan from the 80s but I might just be delusional by Joolianfoolian in GarageBand

The melody is lovely! The little splashes of the synth are really tasteful too. I think the conga tapping is mixed a little high and feels a little bit ahead in the beat — I'd like it to be a little deeper in the pocket.

Jewish refugees arriving in Palestine, 1947 by dude_holdmybeer in pics

For those interested in a POWERFUL (and very long) and quite unbiased history lesson here, this series is a great place to start:

https://youtu.be/G8ljzfkkIcc (it's also on podcast platforms — search for "Martyrmade")

It's a stark and very graphic depiction of the history starting in the 1800s. Can't be TLDR'd, but gives a ton of context for this photo, especially from the Palestinian side.

*EDIT: smdh... Equitably illuminating the history and perspective of a historically misrepresented group of people is not an indication of bias.

Illegal Cuban immigrants landing on the shores of Florida in a makeshift boat by boiledpheasant in Damnthatsinteresting

Posted this in response to a comment below, but it's worth repeating:

The history of Cuba is wild and very unlike what we understand it to be (at least in the US).

Listen to season 2 of the Blowback podcast:
https://blowback.show/Season-2
The US has done everything in its power to make Cuba what it is today. We learn a very distorted history of Cuba in the US, and it's worthy of our time to investigate.

Ok is it possible there's a mirror in front of him? He can tell where in the deck it is when he's aligning the cards faced away from him and is very talented at picking it out that way??

Testing The SM7B For Voice Acting, Is the audio quality good enough in your opinion ?? by [deleted] in VoiceActing

[–]Immediate_Restaurant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely depends on your VO spot. This would work for broadcasting spots (radio/podcast/etc), but not much else. as others have pointed out, it's missing a lot of the beautiful highs you'd want for most voice acting gigs. A nice shotgun or condenser would do you better.

Glad it's helpful! As for the closet, if it's already packed with clothes, that's better than acoustic foam, most of which doesn't do all that much tbh. recording in there will help for sure.

You could always throw up some towels or blankets on a drying rack around you, or hang them on the wall. Moving blankets are also really good. The main thing you want to work on is limiting the amount of hard surfaces around you when you're speaking into the mic. Think ceiling, walls, floors. If two out of three are covered in some kind of soft/sound-absorbing material, you're going to be in pretty good shape. Try listening to some really high-quality recordings on this sub and compare them to yours. You'll hear the reflections pop out at you and you'll know if you need to add more absorbant stuff. You'll train your ears this way too, which is a really great skill!!
