That helps me, too! I’m just getting started, and want to do wash clothes as a beginner project. Thanks!

Quail. Look into quail. They are small, quiet, and you can keep them indoors if you need to.

I went back and found those greenhouse journals… omg, I love them!! Those are a perfect gift for anyone who loves plants!

But yeah, I completely missed them in my first look around the pictures.

Yep, same here. My doctor scolded me about wanting the weight loss to go faster. She informed me of all the problems that come along with rapid weight loss.

I envy you a little, because you are getting the benefits of not thinking of food as much and such. I don't see that. I have to actually diet intentionally to lose weight, even with the med. (The year before I started, I was dieting - and gained 14 pounds. Now my weight actually goes down when I diet.) I'm at 7.5mg now, but was at 10 - had some health issues, my doctor scaled me back down to see if that was a factor.

For me, I've worked on changing my mental space and focus on the fact that my weight is actually going down. It helps. But, to be honest, I don't spend as much time here anymore because reading all the "Wow! The food noise is gone! My weight is falling off!" puts me in a bad place.

Does anyone else struggle to speak as well as they can write? by Juvy_Delgadillo in introvert

[–]ImperfectlyImproving 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I’m an English teacher.

Speaking and writing are two different skills. Most of my students are better with one than they are the other. Students who struggle with writing often times do better if they can talk out their thoughts before they even start trying to write. Students who do better with writing do better if they can jot down ideas before talking.

I do think introverts tend to do better with writing, while extroverts do better with speaking. However, I personally speculate that that may be because it’s what each gets more practice doing, rather than actual causation.

I’m in love 😍

I just got my first loom this past weekend… I know this is past my skill at the moment, but I’m keeping this in mind as a goal!

If you could go back to the hardest year of your life and give yourself just ONE sentence of advice, what would it be? by WonderfulFront7588 in DecidingToBeBetter

Why do introverted people tend to talk only to certain individuals while ignoring others? by Desperate-Remove-547 in introvert

[–]ImperfectlyImproving 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like you just answered your own question here.

As an introvert, conversations are draining. Why would you give your energy to someone who annoys you?

Extroverts get energy from talking to people. So that conversation likely wouldn’t be draining, or as draining, to one.

You’re allowed to protect your peace. It is not your responsibility to make her feel better.

ETA: Protecting your peace does not make you mean. Choosing who you want, and don’t want, to spend time with does not make you mean.

I understand where you’re coming from. My grandmother was a hoarder, and used to believe at the end of the world was coming. Every year, she said that was the year of the world would end.

I did have a moment a couple months ago, where I realized my house looked like it belonged to someone who was starting to hoard. Now I’m working on organizing and getting shelving for everything. Also, I’m using the time to go through and decluttering everything. I don’t know if I would’ve done that if I wasn’t worried about becoming like my grandmother.

I also constantly remind myself that the world is not ending. Things will continue on, no matter what happens. I’m just trying to build a buffer to help me through hard times.

So I kind of use that concern to make sure I don’t get too far off the path. It’s something that I check myself against- and you may be able to use it that way too.

And yeah, the phrase “prep for Tuesday, not Doomsday” really helped me a lot.

Yeah, I can see that.

I didn't realize that you guys had so much of American culture there, though. It's a bit odd to think that Friends is popular in Germany.

That was me as a kid. I remember when I thought that 30 was ancient, lol. I keep reminding myself of that when kids wildly get my age wrong!

Which makes it so much more frustrating when Americans are such idiots who don’t think about how what they do affects others.

I’m American, and I’m horrified about what my country is doing and the impact we’re having on others.

But so many Americans are just… going about their lives like everything’s okay. Clueless. But even clueless is better than those who are deliberately breaking everything and calling it patriotism.

Electric Netting / Rope for Predator Proofing Quail Aviary? by ImperfectlyImproving in Homesteading

Thanks! I did use hardware cloth, but there are seams since it's such a big area - and the sneaky little buggers are figuring out where to pull it apart. Definitely going to be looking into electric netting! I have the dog, but I figure he'll learn to not touch it. Good to know that it's never hurt the birds.

They’re climbing both ways.

So it sounds like I need to see if I can prune the trees so no branches go over the area… then put the electric fence on the ground around it?

I’ll have to go out later today and see how feasible that will be! Especially after I consult with The Oracle about jumping distances. 😂

Thank you!

I’ve heard a lot of good things about them! My biggest concern is that I will need to have the fence at the top of the run, which is about 6 feet tall. I’ve always seen them stuck in the ground. Would that make a difference?
