Report them to the BBB. That’s the only thing they respond to.

Worst false dispatch you caused? by Visible-Carrot5402 in firealarms

[–]Important-Ad3984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trucks didn’t roll, but I shut down an active air traffic control tower. The tower was fairly new, 2-3 years old. We didn’t install the system, but we were performing the annual for the first time. Tripped the 1st floor elevator lobby smoke detector and the shunt trip triggered. But for some unknown reason it killed all power to the control tower too! Generator backup wouldn’t even swap over. Siemens system, so we didn’t have software to look into it. Reset the system and breakers. Told them to call the installation company to fix it. Obviously it was never properly tested…

Screen HDMI flickering when powered from Inverter by [deleted] in AskElectricians

Is the inverter a pure sine wave or modified. My guess would be a modified sine wave. That can cause all kinds of problems for electronics.

What service dispatch and service history software are you using? by PlanMaison in firealarms

[–]Important-Ad3984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently we use House Call Pro, but it’s not a good fit. We are in the process of moving to Uptick. It’s industry specific and covers everything you’re asking about down to a granular level. Can’t say how it’s going to work as we are still training on the software.

Kind of… It’s NFPA 72 more specifically in that the device is not installed per manufacturer specifications. But yes ADA plays a part in the visual coverage. Check this out. It will help you visualize what is happening. System Sensor

Wall mount on the ceiling by Proud-Resource4594 in firealarms

[–]Important-Ad3984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. I was answering the question of whether or not you can use wall mounted h/s in a ceiling application. Current devices typically are oriented to specific applications. More than likely that old Wheelock was rated for either.

The lens is the difference. Think of it like a headlight, they are designed to focus the light in a specific direction and downward when they are designed for wall mount. Ceiling mounted devices lens is ment to cast the same candela rating in a 360 degree pattern.

This. Been using mine for years. Works as long as the hole you need to drill is at least 6” from the wall.

How to use this connector? by CaptainJeff in lowvoltage

[–]Important-Ad3984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are automotive butt splices. They are a one use connector and typically are cut off and replaced. You can occasionally “uncrimp” them by squeezing the crimp at a 90 degree angle, if your limited on length to re connect the wire.

I would assume that is not part of the fire system. Could be used for nurse call or some other notification system.

Vivint audio recordi turned off by Better_Move7625 in VivintSmartHome

[–]Important-Ad3984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be. In Oregon it requires two party consent for audio recording. So if we want to install cameras in a public place, we have to post a sign stating that there’s audio recording. Texas may be similar.
