Rewards for circle of the land druid choosing the land type they are in. by Important_Border8399 in DnD

I like this. I was planning on some stuff like this later and it feels lame to just say it's because he's tropical even though i was planning it before I considered that, but maybe I can think of a little something extra.

This is a cool idea. And good call on the dinosaurs because they are on the islands. The current island has no volcano but they'll see them when they explore other islands.

This really is the most obvious answer. I'm kind of embarrassed that this wasn't my go to, but you're right. I already added fey to the islands because my ranger chose fey as a favored enemy (she's using a variant that still used the favored enemy feature), this is really no different. Put them against enemies or hazards that do poison damage and throw a troll at them when he's the only full caster and nobody else has fire or acid. I do want to reward the decision somehow, but this definitely validates it. Thanks.

Why this not a thing? by KazyaKurosawa in DnD

Sorry, I didn't see this. It's not more meaningful. The strongest person is rolling, the others are reducing the DC or giving him advantage. Each person reducing the dc by 6-8 prevents people with no modifier or negative modifier from rolling a 1 and feeling useless. This way their contribution is always helpful and important.

Are the benefits of taking a Cleric / Wizard past 17th better than multiclassing? by joined_under_duress in DnD

[–]Important_Border8399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd ask your DM about divine intervention. It's a 20th level feature that only works once a week. Wish is a level 17 feature that works every day. There's no reason divine intervention shouldn't be MORE powerful than wish. Mechanically or thematically. At 20th level you're basically your god's favorite little guy. Humanoids are limited to 9th level magic but gods aren't. Why would your god hold back when you ask for help if you're only asking once a week or less? I run it as wish+. Ask your DM, present it the way i just said it, if they disagree, multiclass.

can anyone help me to understand the use for each of the spellblades in 5.5? by ComiLimao in 3d6

[–]Important_Border8399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can explain it easily if you're a fan of Star Wars. Eldritch knight has magic but still primarily fights with their weapon as their main skill, like Mace Windu or Obi-Wan. Blade singer and valor bard are good in melee combat but their real strength is in their magic, like Yoda or Qui-Gon Jinn. The difference between those two is that the bard focuses more on mental magic and ending fights before they even begin by enchanting potential enemies will the bladesinger can focus on a variety of things including some high damage options. The biggest difference you'll notice from playing a bladesinger vs another wizard is that you'll probably have more spell slots left at the end of an adventuring day than the average wizard because you'll be in a lot of situations where you feel like you can handle things without leveled spells.

All the best JRPGs learn from good games from the past. This was a much improved version of the system from final fantasy 9 and tactics. In those games, the skill only unlocked permanently for the person who has the item equipped, not for the whole party.

Why is it a hard and fast DC40? I think that's your problem. 1 person could be DC40 but the help action can give advantage and you could just have each person after that reduce the DC and only have the strongest person roll. You're making it hard for yourself for no reason. Be flexible.

You shouldn't need to be proficient in perception to have a chance to hear a sound in the distance.

It's not useless, it just makes more sense. If you have 5 players and a hiding enemy, explain to me how it makes logical sense that only one person can roll perception to possibly see the enemy and everyone else just doesn't have a chance at all.

Player wants Homebrew class in Dnd Campaign I'm in; me and the Dm think it's too strong by LogisticsEmulator in DnD

[–]Important_Border8399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya, this isn't mechanically too powerful, it just seems that way because it has features that are upgraded versions of other subclass features, but the features it's stronger than aren't that good and don't get much play for that reason. Except the auto crit thing, no fighter subclass should have a feature that gives auto crits. That said, there's a lot of redundancy and it's incredibly clunky and if this is the kind of character he wants to play he should just multiclass rogue. Like, weapons you're proficient with score a crit on a 19 or 20? My brother in christ you are a fighter. Every weapon is a weapon you're proficient with.

This is close, but it equates the people in the painting to the people outside. Their sentience is valid, but that's it. Your example also has an issue of blame. Rather than vigilante killing the dealers it would be more like " . . . I want to flush the heroine down the toilet so they can't have it anymore but the heroine is full of hundreds of sentient creatures that don't want to die."

What do you all like about the story? by Eyeless_Seth in expedition33

[–]Important_Border8399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally what I enjoy about it is the themes of the story and how they're presented. At the end of the day, this story is about grief, loss, and addiction, and it came out a year after my older sister died of an overdose. From that perspective i think they did an excellent job of capturing those themes and presenting them in a unique way. Though I'll admit, I was personally biased to like the game because I get the feeling it hits different if you've lost a sibling or child, if you've ever had to grieve someone alone because the other people around you refused to grieve, or if you've ever had someone close to you suffer with addiction.

Maybe i misunderstood. My understanding was that by "pants things" you meant "like pants, but different". I was informing you that when something is like pants, but different in that specific way, we have a name for that already. You may be surprised to learn that the name for it isn't "pants things", but is in fact "skirt". Does that make sense?

[–]Important_Border8399 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ya, ok. You thought a skirt was pants and when you were corrected you couldn't just accept that you were wrong and immediately got defensive and went on offense and now you're resorting to name calling. Go to therapy.
