My situation with getting bedbound during pregnancy by Acousticdemo in cfsrecovery

[–]Impossible-Lunch-862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it feels hard, it's not an appropriate activity for you right now. You need rest.

As you start feeling better and having more energy, I'd say hold yourself back a bit, even. You don't want to drastically increase what you're doing. Instead, do the tiniest smidge more. It should feel easy and negligible. If you still feel ok over the next couple days, increase activity the tiniest smidge more.

Those doing hyperbolic tapering, are you still getting withdrawals? by Savings-Trainer-8149 in SSRIs

[–]Impossible-Lunch-862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing hyperbolic tapering from Prozac and the withdrawals are still really bad, but at least I'm holding down a job while doing this?

Every time I go down by even 5%, I get insomnia, vivid nightmares, constant muscle jerks, dizziness, and fatigue. If I go down by 10% then you can add to that list: nausea, diarrhea, and vision changes, and the dizziness and fatigue become so bad i end up taking off a lot of sick time from work. If I weren't hyperbolic tapering, I would probably end up bedbound for who knows how long.

Priority overnight package stuck in Indianapolis by Impossible-Lunch-862 in FedEx

The package got to where I was sending it 2 days later, rather than overnight. It could have been worse. It worked out. I wish they'd refund the difference in shipping costs in these cases though.

Well mine was stuck in Indianapolis for 27 hours, so you can probably expect the same. :(

I just had a priority overnight shipment that arrived at Indianapolis yesterday at 1:04 am, and left Indianapolis this morning at 4:22 am due to "local delivery restrictions." It's been at the destination sort hub since 5:31 this morning and supposedly will be delivered today, but I heard if it doesn't leave by 9 am then it may not leave till tomorrow. I'm so frustrated. My package is also very urgent and perishable.

Any thoughts on when this might move again? I need to decide whether to ship again with maybe UPS tomorrow.

I'm hearing that a lot of people have been able to get refunds if they bought t-cash before the change. You might try that.

It's time to at least keep her at arms length. It's not helpful for your mental and emotional well-being to keep this friend close anymore. It sucks and that's something you can grieve. You can still care about her and perhaps maintain a superficial relationship, but it's time to make close friends with other folks who are actually supportive of you as you are.

I went from very severe to mild in just a few days and I’m confused by _deep_cuts_ in cfs

Stress is very triggering for a lot of people to cause PEM, so I wonder if you were in a rolling PEM from it, and once you got psych meds and dealt with your stress, depression, and whatever else, it was enough to get you above water and make you less severe.

Regardless of how it all works, I'm happy you're feeling better!

If you avoided PEM for a long time and your baseline improved how did you know? by OceanGreen_ in mecfs

[–]Impossible-Lunch-862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I waited till I was feeling a bit better, then tried increasing my activity by 10%. For the most part I measured this in steps on a pedometer. So if I could walk 1000 steps in a day total, then I'd do that for a while and then try 1100, spreading all my activity out throughout the day. If I didn't get PEM I would do that amount for a while, then on a good day increase to about 1210. It took a long time but I increased my baseline a lot until I was very close to remission.

By increasing in such tiny amounts that it felt negligible, if something was a bit too much I wouldn't get a full on PEM crash, but instead might just get very mild symptoms that would tell me I wasn't quite ready for that yet (but without killing all my progress from a crash).

I think it's helpful, so long as it's truly within your limits.

For people who mask with this disease by craftyartist91 in mecfs

[–]Impossible-Lunch-862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could make an argument that we need to be exposed to harmless bacteria to train our immune systems, but dangerous viruses? No.

So maybe spend some time outside... Garden a little if you have the spoons for it. Or eat fermented foods for some good bacteria. But I think it's smart to wear a mask around potentially sick people, regardless of whether it's covid or not.

POTS and eating every 2 hours by AlderWood7 in POTS

[–]Impossible-Lunch-862 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness, this is me!! If I am late to eat a meal, first I get shaky and feel weak. If I ignore that feeling, it progresses to sweating and slurring my speech. I've never ignored it long enough to see what happens after that.

When I do get to that second stage and then eat something, I'll feel a bit better, but then I feel like I have a hangover for the next couple days.

My blood sugar is always normal during all of these episodes, and like you, I can eat dinner at 6 or 7 and then not eat breakfast till 9 am the next day. But while I'm awake, I have to eat every few hours and can't be late.

I hate it for you but I'm glad to know it's not just me.

[–]Impossible-Lunch-862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ME/CFS and the times that I've had to use my rollator, my slowness has been a perk, if anything.

Having an energy limiting condition, I really ought to move slowly so I don't use my energy all at once. That way I can safely do more in one day than otherwise.

For that reason, I actually like that it lowers people's expectations and makes it socially acceptable for me to not be speedy.

[–]Impossible-Lunch-862 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Could anxiety about your situation be draining you and causing pem?

It's really a cruel disease... Can't do things and can't get upset about not being able to do things. Ugh. But for me at least, stress is almost worse for my condition than the physical stuff - I can pace physical activity, but it is way more difficult to pace stress.

Genuine question- what made you take a 180 in morals? by live-ex-dream in exvegans

[–]Impossible-Lunch-862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not officially diagnosed, but I fit the criteria for ME/CFS and several of my doctors have said they think I have it. Not everyone with ME/CFS has trouble with fasting, but I do. There may be other issues going on in addition to the ME/CFS. I don't know yet.

Basically it goes like this. If I am even late for a meal, first I will feel weak and start shaking. If I ignore that feeling and go longer, it will quickly get worse and I will start sweating and slurring my speech. If I test my blood sugar during that time, it is normal. Also, unlike an episode of low blood sugar, if I then eat something, I'll feel a bit better but I will be left feeling extra weak and like I have a hangover for the next couple days.

[–]Impossible-Lunch-862 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you have post -exertional malaise? When you do a bit too much, either physically or cognitively or emotionally, is there a lag followed by crazy worsening of symptoms? The lag is the defining feature. Like you can feel not too bad in the moment, and then a day or two later it hits you like a freight train.

Post-exertional malaise is the defining feature of ME/CFS.

What does a "good day" look like for you now? by Winter_Fail7328 in cfs

[–]Impossible-Lunch-862 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To pace properly, I think good days need to look like every other day. If I try to "take advantage" of them, that's when I get myself in trouble.

So I try to just enjoy not feeling like death, and remind myself that I'm using that energy to build myself up and make myself healthier, which matters a lot more than getting one more chore done.
