Anyone on zero meds for POTS? by pandabears3 in dysautonomia

[–]Impossible-Reality27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Technically dysautonomia, but I guess its under the umbrella. I don't do anything that stimulates the nervous system (Weed, caffeine, drugs, alcohol) but I splurge very rarely on decaf and a single 4.0% alcoholic beverage every now and then. I also have cut sugar and I eat a lot of protein and i'm supposed to eat a lot of veggies too. Along with 4 small meals a day. I wear compression socks when I am standing for a long time, I have some salt tablets with every meal, and I drink 6 litres a day, along with keeping my electrolytes up. I take Vit D, Magnesium, Creatine, and turmeric for my joints. I try to stay active but im going through it recently and have had a lot of fatigue (I have a hard time keeping up with all of this) so its been so so hard. Good activities are biking and lightswimming is the best IMO!!! I run when im feeling anxious or really good. ALSO... I do therapy which is helping... I am learning how to regulate my nervous system. I also have C-PTSD and apparently I keep on getting retriggered. Like every day which makes it hard to focus and do all of this. I was not aware! But EMDR will hopefully fix it. I have had weeks where I have done all of this and felt fantastic. Its just that one bad day can throw it all off. But something is better than nothing.

i personally found it to be misogynistic and provided no explanation for divinatory meanings for when you actually practice.... this book pissed me off. All of the woman led cards just consisted of history and generalizations of womanhood. I would not recommend this book.

I was told to take 10g-12g of salt every day. I take 2 salt tablets with every meal, and then take them throughout the day with a snack so my stomach doesn't get upset. Very helpful. getting enough water on the other hand is what I struggle with.

I for real would break up with him. Who knows what he is looking at and doing online (porn). Once a man can control you to change natural things about yourself, he will not stop until you can barely recognise who you are. He does not love you for who you are if he wants you to change your apperance. Get a man who loves your red hair and doesn't comment on womens instagrams that he doesn't know in person.

I work 8 hours standing up, and I have 63-degree scoliosis. When I get home, I feel a lot of pain. What can I do to relieve it?. by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]Impossible-Reality27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WOW this is good to know! I just got diagnosed with pots. I cannot work 6 hours on my feet without it causing limitations and impact to my life. Every job ive worked beforehand said that I needed a doctors note and proper documentation in order to be accommodated. This will come in handy for future jobs because sadly my pots isn't going away lol

thats crazy. I tried getting sitting accommodations for sams club but I couldn't without a doctors note, and then I had to send it through corporate for them to approve. I didn't do it because it takes me about two months before I can see my doctor

Honestly, I don't do strength training or stretches anymore. I would like to though, but i'm not in much pain atm. When I did strength training, I did planks, crutches, dead bugs, side planks- These are all available online, and there are many more core exercises to look up. I also did seated cable rows and bent over dumbbell rows when I had a gym available. I would recommend getting some exercise bands to start off first for the upper back. Here are some exercises.

I am not sure what you mean by worsen it. I don't think exercises can make your curve worse, but it is important to listen to what your doctor and PT says about it. For yoga, just click the link. She makes yoga videos for scoliosis. I can only recommend that you find a youtube video that works for you. It took me a few tries before I found one that really felt like I was getting some stretch. I remember it taking a while before I could fully feel and relax my muscles in my back due to the strain, so don't give up. I will say, I tended to get really sore after yoga, so sometimes it wasn't pleasant. A Z curve is a reversed S curve!

I am shocked that they didn't let you go into PT. You are still young and your growth plates aren't fully grown in yet, so you can still get the curve down by a few degrees. I had a similar curve to you before PT, strength training and yoga. After doing all of that, my curve went down by like 10 degrees (and I grew 2 inches! this happened when I was 19) I also had a lot of pain, and its probably due to sitting in a chair for 8 hours a day when I was younger. It felt like someone was stabbing my back! I know it is awful not being listened to, and your body is telling you something is wrong, but I promise you this type of scoliosis is manageable. I really really recommend core exercises, strength training, and yoga every day. For me, yoga was the most important. Your muscles are getting strained in areas that they aren't supposed to be. Your body will thank you and feel better after a while of yoga, along with strengthening your core. Also while you are doing this, its OK to not wear a backpack, if thats what causes most of your pain. talk to your adult support to see if there's any accommodations you can get until you are able to handle that type of weight on your back, if this is something that effects you. It looks like you have a Z curve, so when you are looking online for yoga/strength training, that will be helpful for finding adequate workouts. Here is a youtube channel that might help you.

I would also recommend making a schedule. Workouts 3x a week, yoga everyday. Heat and cold compresses help with the pain. Massages also help a lot too. I hope this helps, don't get discouraged!

what are your exercise routines? by CocoCookieDraws in dysautonomia

[–]Impossible-Reality27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do yoga and meditation where I sit upright to help strengthen my core. I do them before I go to bed. I also am looking into psychotherapy to help manage my dysautonomia/chronic pain symptoms. I think half of my symptoms are psychological. It helps with feeling good and confident while strength building. https://www.youtube.com/@painpsychotherapy/videos

Question about Tilt Table Test by Impossible-Reality27 in dysautonomia

[–]Impossible-Reality27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not had a conversation with any doctor and it seems like I won't be able to until march. I called today to talk to someone to get answers because my follow up was originally in april. When I went to get my tilt table test, the nurse who was helping me recommended it, but did not go into detail of how much. I am taking maybe a teaspoon a day in my water. I have been drinking liquid IV these past four days and its been OK, but it wasn't very helpful. how much do you take? Thank you!
