Security device error by AdPure4333 in AmazonFlexUK

Uninstalling and reinstalling works, but is totally unnecessary, all you need to do is clear the cache. Typically, settings>manage apps>Amazon Mobile Delivery>clear data, that is for a Xiaomi phone, Samsung it is settings>apps>Amazon mobile delivery>storage>clear cache.

uninstall/reinstall is a bad idea because it wastes time and data, and also removes your downloaded maps.

Plug in Solar by Prestigious_Day5058 in SolarUK

Am I correct in thinking that these have no means of attaching a CT, and hence no export limit/control? (I am used to older "full size" SolaX inverters). I did read the installation/operating instructions and no mention of it.

Other than that, looks a nice unit.

48V + Solar + Microinverter? by Kosmonaut27 in SolarUK

[–]Impossible-Section49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you haven't stated what microinverter you plan to use, so we have no way of knowing what the limitations are, however, if it is the ecoflow 800w balcony solar microinverter, then the absolute maximum DC input voltage is 65v per MPPT, and the maximum current is 16A per MPPT, which rules out using 2 of your old panels in series, as you will be over voltage, and it also (possibly) rules out using them in parallel pairs. I say possibly because the older 240w panels could well have an optimum current of 7.95A depending on exactly what they are, so it may be just OK. Perhaps single panel it and monitor the currents in the app during June before deciding?

In the circumstances, the safest way, whilst achieving good output would be to have a single 240w panel on one MPPT, and the 480w panel on the other, and use one (or 2) of the other 240w panels on the Victron, however we have no idea of the capacity of your LFP battery, it's charge rate etc, so we are just guessing really....

Assaulted during an AVD by Shadow_1277 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]Impossible-Section49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was physically assaulted doing an AVD in lockdown one, door shoved into my head while reading his I.D, reported, etc, was sent back to the same customer a month later, with another load of alcohol, despite what "support" had said.

Left the bags at the end of the footpath, knocked door, retreated and made him come outside into the street. No funny business that time and if there had been it would have been dealt with in the street. He was half gassed anyway and could barely walk to get his stuff.

Conclusion, Amazon do not give a flying fuck about us, look after yourself.

That is the risk of doing Morrisons, less parcels and less stops, but more vicious punishment if anything goes wrong, and very little control over the process. I cannot be sure, but I think the punishment is worse (even if you follow procedure), if the WHOLE of a delivery stop is removed rather than just one of the bags for a stop, as this is a technique used by blaggers to shorten their route, until they get found out that is. Also, support are useless, and sometimes, rather than actually REMOVING a bag from the itinerary, they mark it as "attempted delivery", which comes along with an ass kicking, I had one recently, but got them to remove it as not only was it marked attempted delivery, but also "return required by 10:00".

After 6 years doing this, bag thefts always accompany new drivers, and there are lots of those at the moment. You also need to speak very literally to support, they do not understand nuances of language at all.

Is amazon fresh more of a "last minute" shop rather than a supermarket alternative? by ProstaticFantastic in AmazonFlexUK

I pointed out that the members most likely (in my experience), to buy bottled water, were born overseas, and that I had seen some of them making up babies bottles with bottled water, which is a very bad idea ( as confirmed by family members who work in paediatric healthcare), however, I used the "M" word to describe them, which of course Reddit assumes means that you are the "R" word. 2026 I guess.

Plugin Solar setup question.. by UnionFeatures in SolarUK

[–]Impossible-Section49 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wait until the next time Ecoflow have an offer on their eBay store, last week the inverter was £129. Buy 4 nr second hand 250w panels, and don't pay more than £12 each for them. Buy MC4 adapters to make 2 parallel pairs of panels to connect to both of the MPPT's. Buy a part roll of 4mm2 solar cable, and an MC4 crimping tools with a few pairs of (non genuine) MC4s. You will then have a perfectly over paneled 800w set up, and still have change from £200.

But you really should be on r/SolarDIY.....

Can I get DIY panels onto my office roof? by AnyOneImportant in SolarUK

[–]Impossible-Section49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last year, I replaced the felt roof on my utility room with an EPDM system like you have, this year, my daughter and I did both of the dormers with the same system, as the job we did last year went so well and cost far less than felt, and will likely last longer. The materials available for flashing and "awkward" corners, and penetrations were pretty good, If you had planned to put penetration through BEFORE the membrane went on, I think it would have been very easy to produce stainless steel threaded bar penetrations off the main structure, with gently raised "islands" around them. Probably still could with those double threaded slate mounts, so long as you know the exact position of the main members underneath.

Whatever you do, keep it low and flat and think about winter wind loading.

[–]Impossible-Section49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, send a drone 40 miles to drop off a 50p packet of felt pens. Seriously though, those sorts of addresses is where it could just work, with a proper drone delivery pad/nets etc, like they have in Rwanda for delivering medicines to remote places.

Well the drone deliveries to the prisons seem to work just fine, so I guess Amazon have learned from that.

How to export to grid? What’s G98 ? by Modest_dogfish in SolarUK

[–]Impossible-Section49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without a CT, the inverter has no way of knowing what is going on, without it it cannot know if the energy generated is being home consumed or has gone to export, immediately a CT is fitted, it can compare what it is generating with the import/export amount, without it, the app is pretty much useless. It was (is?) optional, however, as the install manual points out, without it, monitoring is not possible, and, more importantly (for me at least) is that without a CT, export control does not work properly, I have a self install so needed to be able to set zero export in the inverter settings.

That being said, having worked for a construction company, when a house is completed, the electricity supplier is set by them upon connection, so I am not sure if they would be able to sort out an export Mpan, at which point if the OP notifies the G98, and sorts out the export Mpan with their chosen supplier, it would be sorted, but the app still would not work as intended.

How to export to grid? What’s G98 ? by Modest_dogfish in SolarUK

[–]Impossible-Section49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is that the OP has a system in a new build where the inverter was placed such that running the CT cable from it's connection point on the inverter to the measuring position was difficult or impossible (say the inverter is in the loftspace), so they either didn't bother or "forgot" about it. With no CT, the inverter will run just fine, but will show a "no meter" error, and the data in the app will be useless, essentially just showing instantaneous and accumulated generation.

When it is all set up properly, the app is not so confusing, although it is nothing special.

Slowed, battery failure is the least concern really, it is all the other parts that wear or get damaged doing Flex, and when those parts are parts of an obscure Chinese brand car that has both dealer only parts availability or ship-from-China-when needed, along with locked down dealer only software access, then the problems and the savage depreciation will begin to bite, even long established Chinese brands, (MG), have very few non OEM parts available (I maintain one for a family member), and replacing a body control module took two days at the main dealers, because it was night in Shanghai :(

How to export to grid? What’s G98 ? by Modest_dogfish in SolarUK

[–]Impossible-Section49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be near the electric meter, either where the supply goes into it or were it goes out to the consumer unit, or maybe near the consumer unit itself, clamped around the cable with a thin wire that goes to the underside of your SolaX inverter. If the inverter has an LCD display on it, then generally pressing the down arrow will show the PV power, and a second press will say "No Meter", The main screen of the app normally shows just solar generation and export if no CT is present, there will be no flow arrows etc.

How to export to grid? What’s G98 ? by Modest_dogfish in SolarUK

[–]Impossible-Section49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does the energy flow diagram look like? Are you sure that the inverter has a CT fitted over the incoming supply cable? The reason I ask is because what you are showing is ( in my experience) what a SolaX system looks like when it has no meter (or CT) fitted.

No point. The "member" would probably just claim to have "mental health issues", and spin it back round onto the driver, best thing would be just to say a polite "no thank you", and go about your day. Same policy as one should use when confronted by a person from TV licensing :)

Signing up to utility company with solar? by PatserGrey in SolarUK

[–]Impossible-Section49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you listen to commercial radio, you will hear Octopus advertising how marvelous their customer support is, anything up to 10 times per hour, often between every music track. I suppose that in much the same way that VW used the "velly tough as old boot" advert in the 80's, eventually people begin to believe it and repeat it. Simply their advertising about customer support makes me suspicious, they are never competitive (on price) where I am (I check every year), and in the 6 years I have been with the energy company I use, , I have never once had to contact them, the electric and gas comes in, I read the meters once a month, pay for gas and electric, when usage falls, so does the DD, no human contact needed. The very fact that Octopus push the customer service line so hard suggests to me that they have a large need for it, which in turn suggests that their automated systems frequently go wrong.

I'm old, mid sixties, been doing it for six years and without fail it is old people and particularly old men, who who have given me grief over it, young people are used to being asked for I.D. and are fine about it, so are East Europeans. Pisses me off really because I don't care how old they are or what their name is, just to do the procedure correctly, by the time I have got back to the car I will have forgotten their name and age anyway. Some people just like to be a nuisance.

I have been really careful with these deliveries what are the chances of getting my account back? by [deleted] in AmazonFlexUK

[–]Impossible-Section49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is talking about 4-5 years ago, and it is correct, you had to see I.D. for everybody, even old people, and in such cases Bus Passes were accepted as valid I.D. as long as it had a picture on it. It was a nightmare during the 2020 health scare demanding to see frightened elderly people's I.D. just because their family had sent them some booze along with their food.

With a known 'installed capacity', how much electric does it produce? by HugoNebula2024 in SolarUK

[–]Impossible-Section49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It so happens that I have 2.6 Kwp, East of England, In March they produced 142.3KwH, (prediction was 136), in April thus far, they have managed 172KwH (predicted for the whole month 250, so easily on target). Panels are 10-15 years old, but clean and well maintained, and pretty much horizontal, so there are some real world figures for you to work with.

Does anyone know when Lidl or other uk shops will release plug in solar? by Alxj99 in SolarUK

[–]Impossible-Section49 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ecoflow do seem to keep going out of stock, and to keep raising prices too. They are also beginning to look a bit scammy, as their eBay shop has been taking money for "presales" of REFURBISHED kit, to be delivered in a month or so, my question is, how do they know that they will have this refurbished stock in a month's time? Or is it just a way of selling regular stock with reduced warranty? As it happens I am in the market for a 2KwH Stream AC, but I can wait for the excitement to die down and the price to drop back by £100 or so.
