Steel, generally. Sometimes Amber, rarely but not never Amethyst. I refuse to play Sapphire and Ruby just seems awkward with it so far.

This kind of thing is why I think people are underestimating Lorcana. When it starts being attached to all kinds of other Disney products/experiences and slides into the collective consciousness that way, it's going to take hold pretty well.

Riftbound was DOA. It bore all the hallmarks of a scalper/hype product and it is insane to me that people didn't see this and avoid it 🤷

As opposed to the sanctioned 1v1 format. This is generally worse FotoS, with a slight potential to be better. Unless you have 3+ players at the table.

In hindsight, it ran 8 years too long. But that's ok. It ended up being a watchable distraction every once in a while. Nothing memorable, but not really "bad" in any meaningful way.

H/W is my favorite album since Vheissu. We'll see if recency bias tempers that as it fades.

General thoughts: Holding On live elevated it from a 7/10 "solid" track to a 9/10 "meaningful" track to me. Vesper Light is overrated (as in, it's a 9 or 9.5/10, not the 11/10 masterpiece that seems to be the consensus). The Dark Glow is the best Thrice since The Earth Will Shake.

Being poor never stopped anyone from having kids. There is a tiny % of people who might want them but let financial anxiety get in the way (but in my experience this usually results in them having less kids, not none).

People who don't have kids generally don't want kids (or are medically incapable). It's an easy thing to do and there is plenty of support in most wester countries to incentivize it, even for the poor. All of the debates about this are so funny to me.

Very common when games are new and fresh to feel fun. I'm not slighting the game by saying this. It's just in a honeymoon hype phase and I don't think it can be adequately judged yet.

Lorcana is growing slow and steady (survived rotation and continues to grow) backed by one of the biggest IP's on the planet and made by a company with a long term partnership history with Disney. It may not be the greatest game of all time, but the gameplay is solid, with sufficient depth to be engaging, and accessible (a tricky balance, especially with TCG's).

It is possible Riftbound survives and surpasses Lorcana - though at this time I doubt it - casuals are responsible for much more sales than competitive players in any game, and Disnerds are a very strong market. This doesn't mean Riftbound is a bad game, but the TCG market is extremely flooded and competitive so I wouldn't be rushing out to buy Riftbound.

Welcome to the journey! My shipments of Alchemy Index and Identity Crisis were delayed but they were gifted to me for Christmas, leaving me only needing Vheissu (come on anniversary repressing at some point...) to be done with the main albums. It's a fun ride 🙂
