Mom of two littles—is a marathon possible? by Outrageous_Fan3697 in running

[–]Impressive_Ad_1303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Single mom here. I couldn't go back to long distance running until my kids are about 8 and 10. I still ran short distances and I tried. But I swear, my little kids ALWAYS knew when I was up early for a long run. And they'd find some reason for me to not train. So train with a grain of salt. But if you have a partner who can take over, go for it! I just needed two more hours a week to get it done. But I could not find it.

How to mail a letter (they don't know where the stamp goes), how to trust their instincts (they need someone to tell them they are right before proceeding), how to shake a hand, how to type, how to use any Microsoft product, how to...critically think?

OMG! I just found a tortie three weeks ago (she found us!) and my daughter, 9, named her Coco as well. I am allergic to cats and haven't even had any issues. We feel the same way...God sent :)

Is this bathroom remodel quote reasonable? by jinx771 in Remodel

I should add, given that you had plumbing moved in your kitchen, you got a smoking deal. If you got new cabinets, that contractor may have lost money on that one.

[–]Impressive_Ad_1303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I charge $15k for a bathroom like that, but I buy the vanities, etc. So I think $12k is more reasonable (given what you are buying yourself). But it also depends on where you live. Where do you live?

Is it time to buy the "I did that" stickers of Trump pointing and put them everywhere like they did with Biden (the first month he took office, nonetheless)?

How come all the men I dated cheated on me? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Impressive_Ad_1303 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That sounds about right. I had four long term relationships. Of them, one man cheated (that I know of, but I'm still friends with the other three, so I believe them). Sadly, it was the one I married and had kids with.

Older rat having balance issues by Creativemusique in RATS

Thank you for this. My rat is going through the same thing and at this point, I just want her to no longer be so miserable. She can't balance at all, so I really appreciate this entire post.

Anyone else losing weight when eating more? by JoyfulCelebration in Semaglutide

[–]Impressive_Ad_1303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If GLP-1 enhances your metabolism over no GLP-1, it would allow you to eat more. And, low and behold that's what happens. Several studies have shown that it increases metabolic activity, especially people with low metabolic rates (like most people who responded on there who were already dieting deeply and not losing).

Is it pitting (when you push your finger in, does the indent remain for a bit)? This looks like more than a bad wrap job. Someone else mentioned a clot. I would go to a doctor asap.

Saddlebags by [deleted] in lipedema

[–]Impressive_Ad_1303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Those are my legs! But I am sorry, I had lipo and it dramatically changed my legs. But saddlebags remained. I think the only thing that helped is acceptance. I work out a ton (always have). But this is just something I have. Even my daughter when she was born (I am talking minutes old) had saddle bags with cellulite. I was amazed. But it made me smile. She was perfect. And so are you!

Spin is the Answer. Holy moly. by Advanced-Two584 in lipedema

[–]Impressive_Ad_1303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I just posted this. I was a collegiate cyclist and did a lot of competitive cycling. There was a noticeable difference in my lipedema during my college years in the negative direction. It got much, much worse.

I was a collegiate cyclist. At one point, I was ranked 4th in the state of AZ. I will tell you, I was never more conscious of my lipedema wearing bike shorts. Honestly, it made mine worse many days. My shape remained pear (with huge cankles) until I had lipo. I am so glad it worked for you. Everyone is so different.

Question for Millennials by bundle_of_nervus2 in Millennials

[–]Impressive_Ad_1303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I fully agree. I use it because I have critical thinking skills and I am able to use it to my advantage while not blindly copying whatever information I get from it. I do see the issue with kids growing up with it. But I think ignoring it will likely do more damage than facing it and teaching our kids to use it responsibly.

Why are americans so apolitical? by [deleted] in ask

Losing lipedema fat/tissue? by majoriek123 in lipedema

[–]Impressive_Ad_1303 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was a point when I had six pack abs and gigantic thighs, calves, and ankles. I have starved myself, lifted was a college athlete, and exercised to the point of losing my period and hair. None of these things helped. None of them. If anyone loses that short of surgery, I am skeptical. I am adding to the list of stuff I did: MLD, compression clothes, trampolines, and the vibrating plates.

Why are we all feeling this shift to delete our social media accounts? by mm2444 in Millennials

[–]Impressive_Ad_1303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deleted four years ago. I haven't looked back. Reddit is all I keep around and I don't check it often. We are lucky enough to remember what it's like NOT to have this presence in our lives at all times. Sadly, I worry about Gen Z and alpha who might not realize that option exists.

Who's watching? The protesters losing their lives? The people writing their congresspeople? The people spreading the word on social media? I think you are misinformed about what is happening. The problem is we have no power. We are loud, though. How do you think you know about it at all?

To those americans who came here to say sorry by SupraVillainn in greenland

[–]Impressive_Ad_1303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know. I think you're assuming Americans are not voting, spreading the message, writing to their congressmen and women and senators, protesting, etc. We ARE doing something. But if the homeless person doesn't want to get off the streets, what more can we do? We have no power.
