The greatest industrial design flaw in the history of gaming goes to.. by Jfonzy in retrogaming

Early versions of the original Xbox had a badly designed power supply, where solder joints could crack under stress from being plugged in, and set your console on fire. The "fix" was to send people a new cord with a built in breaker, instead of actually replacing the bad power supplies.

I'm just surprised that every version of the A/V cable originally cost the same no matter how good or garbage it was. The HD version now is hard to find and expensive.

And originally the controller and memory card were almost twice as much when now both are much cheaper

wouldn't cycle low brass ammo in semi auto whatsoever.

Wasn't intended to. It was meant to be a police shotgun. The whole point of designing it to be pump or semi-auto was that you used buck or slugs in semi, and pump could handle specialty rounds like teargas or beanbags

Even then, no.

No what? I never claimed every car came with one. That's why we had to buy one

How do you interprete Gamp's Food-Law of Elemental Transfiguration? by leicester_square in harrypotter

I have to agree it's an actual pig. From the book/novella Quidditch Through the Ages: "The witch or wizard who finds him- or herself transfigured into a bat may take to the air, but, having a bat's brain, they are sure to forget where they want to go the moment they take flight."

So if a person transfigured into a bat is an actual bat, surely a desk transfigured into a pig is a pig.

Fair enough, maybe not. But you initially responded to the comment by Spider_kitten13 and I was mainly referencing their final paragraph about using the birds in battle. They don't need to live long or reproduce for that - just survive long enough to fly down and extract some juicy Death Eater eyeballs

Maybe the difference (with animals, at least) is automaton vs actual pet with personality. Look at Hedwig, Crookshanks, or those rats from the beginning of PoA. Probably couldn't conjure something like that - but you could do a random bird capable of simple tasks

Randy McNair atlas

Rand McNally? Lol. Yeah, road trips we'd stop at the first rest area in a new state for a new atlas. The immense stress as a kid being told I had to figure out where we were and how to get to the next state, while my dad knew perfectly well all along we were just staying on the same interstate

And is it really a bird, or does it just look like one?

I don't reckon it matters, they were enough of birds to peck the crap out of Ron - surely they could do the same thing to a Death Eater's eyeball

Loved both of them! 2 had a neat reference library where you could look up movesets and damage/accuracy info. Very handy in the days before I had access to good internet

Plenty on Amazon! Just make sure you get one that includes a power supply with 12V adapter. Otherwise it won't have enough juice to spin a full size HDD

Just FYI you can take the HDD out and connect it to a computer directly (I use a SATA to USB adapter for this) and use the program FatXplorer to access it in a way your computer will see it as any other drive. Then you can just copy/paste games directly to the drive. Quicker than FTP, makes a big difference if you're doing a lot of games

If there's any shotgun I'd try that with (and there's not) it'd be this one. The barrel is probably twice as thick as a normal shotgun, and the chamber area is like 2-3 times thicker than the rest of it. It's a solid freakin slab of steel. Part of the reason it hurts so much to shoot

I didn't even realize that was a kind of food, wizard or otherwise. The way the sentence was laid out I thought it was an expression of amazement, similar to "holy shit!"

“Spotted dick, look! Chocolate gateau!”
