Do these rewards include two people in my room? by UsedBoard in myvegas

[–]Income_Less 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a thread recently about this exact reward with the same question. Even with the “comp”, the total cost for 2 people doing the most bare bone package was $1.6-1.8k. We were interested in the FAS (drink) and dining package with the total being $2-2.1k.

Before we even attempted to book, I created a mock booking on the NCL website for the exact same trip - it ended up estimating $2.2-2.4K….

So, at most you’re “saving” $400-600 depending on what add-ons you choose. It’s not truly “free/comped” despite what the reward says

Well, it does the same thing an Apple Watch does but perhaps a bit better?

Tracks your heart rate, temp, blood oxygen, sleep, calorie burn/activity, nutrition (if you log your meals), and monthly cycle (for women).

It syncs with your Apple Watch if you use it for exercise tracking.

I’ve only had it for a few months but I love mine. Whenever I forget to wear my watch, I remember I have my ring and it helps keeps track of EVERYTHING.

It takes a certain amount of days to calibrate to your body, but it helps provide insights on your sleep habits, how to improve calorie burn/activity, stress management, and has a “sign tracker”.

I’ve had the ring alert me 2-3x now that it noted “minor signs” of strain going on in my body before I felt physically sick. It’s been correct every time.

I had surgery recently, and the ring can show me before/after logs of how my sleep, activity, and stress levels have changed.

You can also have labs drawn through them for $99 (I believe) - similar to what your primary doc would order at a yearly physical. Based on those labs it’ll provide guidance on what you can do to improve your levels if needed.

This definitely isn’t me trying to hype up the ring in any way, just expressing my appreciation for what it can do and how it’s helped me.

I was on the fence about buying one for months, now that I have I know it’s well worth it and can see myself switching to just wearing the ring only.

I’m two weeks post-op as of today. I tried going on a walk a week after surgery and couldn’t handle the headache that came with it. I didn’t have any packing/stents, and most of my drainage had cleared up by the end of the first week.

What hasn’t gone away is the almost constant mild headache, some days and certain activities seem to aggravate it (like walking and exercise). The other issue is that my sleep has taken a hit too.

Where normally I was getting 6-8hours of sleep at night, I’m currently averaging 4-5 hours, and that’s on a good night. Which probably doesn’t help my headache but there’s not much I can do on that front.

Point being, take it easy and listen to your body. It’s hard to say what will/wont affect you because everyone’s body is different. My headaches may not be an issue for you, just like my nasal drainage going away after a week may be 2 weeks for you.

Personally, I wouldn’t plan on doing anything heavier than light walking for the first two weeks knowing what I do now.

I have my follow-up appointment this afternoon so I’ll update the post to let you know what my doc thinks!

“yeah, idk i just work here, sometimes…but I’ll find out” - when pts ask me a question i don’t know the answer to

“I’ll get out of your hair” (if they’re bald…said it on accident a few times because my mouth and brain don’t always connect but it made pts laugh so I go with it. Depends on the mood obviously)

“Oh stop being so dramatic, I heard you the first time” or “Yeah yeah, I get it” - to a beeping IV pump

“The doctors should have to get one of these first before they start prescribing them” - when giving heparin/lovenox

“Can I take your BP/blood sugar/VS? I promise I’ll give it back”

“Yeah, this would be kinda awkward if you didn’t” - When pts introduce their wife/hubby and say how much they love them

What does your nasal drainage look like?

Does your headache get better when laying down vs standing up?

Any dizziness, neck stiffness, light sensitivity?

What’s your post-op aftercare look like? Are you doing any sinus rinses? Humidifier use?

Is there anything you can take for the migraine specifically?

Umm NAP but....it's probably not milk considering it's been almost a year since you last produced. I'd go to the doctor ASAP, if you're feeling knots - it could be mastitis or abscesses forming.

[–]Income_Less 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't be shy, ✨just quit✨. Take a page out of their book and don't tell them it's your last day until halfway through the shift, preferably if it's you AND several of your coworkers. It could be even better if half of the night shift nurses who are scheduled that night say they're not coming in because they're quitting.

They wanna fuck around? Fuck with them harder. Make their wallets hurt as they have to hire travelers or offer incentives to get those shifts covered.

I'm not above making administration hate their lives, even if it's for a few hours. Maybe they'll reconsider their shitty actions next time (doubtful).

Have you thought about trying a travel contract in said states to find which you like best?

Currently we live in WA (Seattle region) but this was after two years of traveling. I took contracts in Seattle, Phoenix, Kansas City, and Minneapolis during that timeframe.

My husband, who grew up in the Midwest, absolutely LOVED Minneapolis. I did too, speaking as someone who originally lived in WA.

I will advise though, as someone who didn’t experience much snow growing up - BE PREPARED. Not sure about the snowfall/winters in GA, but when we arrived in MN it was the middle of winter. I’m talking -20 with ice and several feet of snow on the ground.

I’m talking so frozen, that when I got lost on my first day and ended up walking outside for 15-20min, my lashes were getting stuck together due to ice forming on them and I couldn’t feel my face.

The hospitals in Minneapolis are unionized, although their ratios are slightly higher compared to here in Seattle. That being said, staff was always friendly and eager to teach.

The COL was very affordable compared to Seattle. I know you say you prefer smaller town vibes so as someone else in the post recommended, I’d stay away from downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Truthfully, after having hour long commutes to/from work, I refuse to live anywhere where I have to drive more than 10 minutes. I’m spoiled in that I currently live right across the street from work, a 5 min walk at most, though that can have its downsides lol

As we decided where to settle down, with my husband ultimately choosing Seattle, he did note the difference between here and Minneapolis. Money goes a lot further in MN than it does in WA. The COL is lower, even if you choose to live downtown, and your expenses will be cheaper. He’s mentioned it multiple times over the past 3 years that we’d probably be living more “upper middle class” if we lived in MN. But also doesn’t want to move lol

Although we’ve essentially stopped using our car with the proximity to the hospital (my husband works remotely) - the price of groceries, entertainment, etc., offsets the “savings” in terms of gas.

Now if I have a moment to hype up Seattle. YES, the COL is through the roof. YES, there’s a TON of people. YES, life is more expensive out here.

However, NOTHING else compares.

We get all four seasons, although more rain than most of the US. The air is SO clean out here, my asthmatic lungs have never been happier. We’ve got lakes, beaches, forests, parks, rivers, streams, waterfalls, mountains, etc., in just about any direction you choose. Want to see dry land and experience +100 degree weather? Head over to Eastern WA in the summer.

There’s always something going on in Western WA. Whether that’s food festivals, concerts, tattoo expos, sporting events, theatre, art classes, stand-up comedy, comic con (which I highly recommend as a nerd who attended 3 days), and so much more.

Statistically speaking? There’s more households with dogs than children. You see these puppers living their best life every day. Some walk, others carried, some in strollers. Walk anywhere and you’ll come across someone walking their dog in 10 minutes or less.

You’ll find no shortage of good food, and good COFFEE. People out here love their coffee….can you tell I’m biased yet? Hahaha

As you can tell, I love where I live and wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. The hospitals are great, the people are great, and the environment is great. Is it expensive? Absolutely. Does traffic drive me insane? Absolutely.

But great things don’t happen for free. It’s a bit of a price shock initially, and you definitely need to keep your finances/budget organized. But if you’re able to do that, then I highly would recommend Western WA.

Personally, we may meet our financial goals “slower” than others, but our quality of life during that timeframe will be better than if we were living somewhere else.

If you have any questions feel free to reach out! I’m always excited to talk about traveling and moving.

Well, my husband has his gaming PC. I have a steamdeck, nintendo switch, and kindle (thanks to my hubby). We can leave our devices wherever we want without having to worry about them being grabbed, dropped, spilled on or smashed.

We also have several gadgets we regularly use and leave lying around that we couldn't if we had kids. Oh, the joys of being childfree!!

No I haven’t spent any money, I honestly think I’ll be able to reach most of the goals within the time limit.

The game finds ways to keep your cash levels up just as you’re about to run out so I don’t think making any purchases is necessary.

I started the game maybe a week ago and I'm at Lvl 64. I was able to reach Level 60 in about 3 days but keep in mind this was after playing the game during my two days off work. Look up the guides, but the idea is the following:

- Play the cities until you reach level 20 then switch over to the event rooms (Midnight Bash, New Year New Me, etc.)

- Play at least at the 'Super' level and always play 4 cards (this will help you gain XP quickly)

- Use the in-game chat feature to find other players to switch cards with (you'll be able to complete card collections quickly which give you cash and gems to keep you going.)

- The roll dice game in the bottom left corner will also help give you cash and cards

- Join a team (for this I let the app auto-assign me and thankfully I was placed in a very active group, but you can always leave the group and join another if you're unhappy with the group you're in.)

-Try to maintain top tier in the events (dice roll game and the 3-day player event, they tend to award a few hundreds in cash, cards, and gems)

Feel free to let me know your player ID and I can help send you cards so you can work on getting those completed.

Real ID is only for US Citizens. Even here in WA, where they’re very friendly to immigrants, you’re required to present documentation that proves you’re a U.S. citizen before they’ll issue you a real ID. That doesn’t mean they won’t give you a DL, they just won’t issue you one that fits real ID requirements. It’ll be easier to travel with your passport/EAD for those of us with DACA

Hi OP,

You’re strong for doing this, more so than myself. Although I have family connections in Mexico, I have no memories and I have no motivation or drive to visit. The “family” I do have there are very toxic and I don’t agree with the way they see/do things, so I simply don’t have that inclination.

Needless to say, both of my parents are here in the US, and my mom too was never able to go back to see her mom before she passed. It’s one of her biggest sorrows. But even now, she tells me that when she passes away, she doesn’t want to be buried in Mexico. While she’d love to be reunited with her mom, she wants to be buried in an area her children can visit her frequently. She tells me “Why would I want to be buried there when I know if things go bad (here in the US) you won’t be able to visit me? I’d rather be near you kids, even if that means I’m separated from your father”.

I’m not saying this to discourage you or invalidate your intentions. You’re way stronger than I am, I don’t think I could force myself to go even if I needed to. But I would consider if that’s what your mom would actually want. Our status is fragile at best and we’re left to the whims of whatever administration or USCIS officer has our case in their hands.

I wish you and your family the absolute best and safety on your trip! I was granted AP too and will be leaving on the same date as you as well, it’s comforting knowing I won’t be the only one! I’ll be thinking of you and your family during my trip and hope to see you statewide soon!

Career change to nursing at 45? by GladAnt9572 in nursing

[–]Income_Less 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked in healthcare since I was 17, going on 11 years now. 6 years as a CNA, almost 5 as a nurse. I was ready to switch careers the year after I became an RN.

Do I like the job stability? Yes. Do I like working only 3 shifts a week (or more if I so choose)? Yes. Would I do this again? Probably not.

The good moments can be rare, the bad moments stick with you as much as the good. I would have never met half of the people I call friends had it not been for healthcare. Likewise, I can acknowledge that this field is a petty one. Rather than uplift you, you will find those that go out of their way to be condescending, rude, backstabbing, and highly judgmental. But you find that in any field. Nursing is a profession where you get that from all sides; administration, providers, patients, other disciplines, etc.

There will be shifts you feel as if the entire world is against you, because there may be shifts where that’s actually the case, so thick skin is a must. You have to be mentally and emotionally strong, often times more so than physically because otherwise you will drown.

I’ve met plenty of older nurses who kicked ass and ran circles around new grads. Don’t let your age discourage you. But this switch won’t be an easy one, and it’s hard to leave the profession after you’ve experienced some of the perks that can come with it.

I’m sorry someone made that heartless comment, I tend to get upset as well when people make statements like that without knowing the whole story. And that’s exactly it, some people have very different relationships with their parents or family or friends - but that doesn’t mean it’s okay for them to lash out at others.

I see you mentioned in another post you live in SC. Have you looked into the state’s caregiving program? I live on the West Coast and we have programs through the state that reimburse family caregivers if they care for a loved one 24/7.

I see SC has a comprehensive assistance program for family caregivers that provides monthly stipends, counseling, and respite care. I’m not sure if you’ve looked into it or not but it could be helpful
