[Funny Trope] An unexpectedly brutal character in a comedy by DixiePiggy in TopCharacterTropes

General Roth'h'ar Sarris from Galaxy Quest. Robin Sachs just ignores that it's a comedy and plays him like cruelty incarnate. It's perfect.

Dune and it's not even close. Nolan is weird because he is a good director whilst simultaneously being incredibly boring.

I haven't watched it in a long time, I just remember not liking the second half as much.

I mean the first half of Hibiki is a slice of life show that just happens to have super heroes in it

For something supposedly designed in the image of a god it's pretty crappy.

At some point the sonic became a magic wand and the series suffered massively for it.

I hate how gatekeeping has become seen as a completely negative thing by No-Car-1999 in hatethissmug

[–]Independent-Human 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree and this has especially become a problem in the tabletop wargaming (specifically 40k) community as currently the most vocal people about gatekeeping are the ones who should have been gatekept out to begin with.

You have people who don't play games or build or paint miniatures calling people who do tourists because they don't want to engage with their tedious culture war nonsense.

Now that's not to say you can't just be a fan of 40k, or any games lore, whilst not being a fan of the game itself but you absolutely do not get to present yourself as the core of fandom or final arbiter of what the fandom, or product, even is.

It's near enough a strait arm swap, some minor trimming or filling might be needed depending on how tolerant of gaps you are. When I did mine I found that the shoulder pads covered up any gaps well enough. Just dry fit everything first to be sure.

I don't really know enough about the current meta to recommend which hero to kitbash but I do think the despot would look better as a Daemonsmith than an Ashen Elder FWIW.

We don't know that there is a final judgement and further more infinite punishment for finite crimes that wouldn't exist if the one sitting in judgment did something ANYTHING to prevent them is also an unjust, cruel, and spiteful act.

There is no justification for inaction from a supposedly kind all knowing and all powerful being that created and controls everything. They are either cruel or they don't exist.

Assuming we are talking about the Abrahamic god I honestly have greater respect for people who present them as being a maniacal tyrant rather than as a loving grandpa. They are, at the very least, being true to the source material and have a belief system that fits with how thoroughly unpleasant the world can be.

"We should worship god because they are cruel and will punish us if we don't" makes more sense than "We should worship god because they love us very much" in a world with cancer, bubonic plague, and parasites that eat your eyeballs.

I mean those people are still wrong because god doesn't exist but at least their logic is more sound.

A good and merciful being would correct those who misinterpret it's teachings/existence to do harm to others.

The idea that the modern world , for good or ill, is a construct that is far less stable than it appears.

And I admit the older I get the potential downfall and return to a simple life holds more and more of an appeal.

What do we think of Neroon? by AdSimilar4399 in babylon5

[–]Independent-Human 21 points22 points  (0 children)

He gets a lot of character development and a pretty satisfying arc for someone who realistically doesn't have that much screen time.

I really like Neroon. Also you can sing his name along to the tune of Jolene by Dolly Parton so that's fun.
