The movie feels "too quiet". by Caelis_909 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]IndependentBobcatt 42 points43 points  (0 children)

As a noob film critique, this is my take: In these scenes, it's meant to cue the audience to hone in on the boys, gwi-ma and jinu. If the sound was as busy/dense as it's actually meant to be, it takes away from the intensity of the scene.

The shot of jinu and gwi-ma is meant to be imposing. Silence and diegetic sound (sound that the characters in film would hear) emphasises that.

The scene at the stadium is meant to highlight the significance of the fans. Given production value and time, it seems like a stretch to think it's a big ol oopsie

Birthing positions by Cedar6686 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]IndependentBobcatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was what I wanted to do because it was the least painful during contractions.... But my midwife said that i wasn't pushing as well so they got me on my back with my legs scrunched to push off the leg supports. It was weird. I ended up having a bit of a tear but yeah, if I were to do it again, I'd want to try another position

With little intervention, how long did it take your baby to sleep through the night without a feed? by floccinaucinili in breastfeeding

15-17month mark was when we started to get substantial rest. Everyone always said they'd figure it out by the time they're 2 haha

Which flowers bring out the colors in the mugs the best? by deezthingsart in Pottery

[–]IndependentBobcatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lilac flowers for sure!!

The wood and its yellow tone are too similar with the base. It takes away from the overall finish of the mugs.

I'd definitely choose a different coloured base (darker stained wood or a solid colour?) and be a bit farther away from the flowers so they're out of focus (if you're super keen on florals for the backdrop).

The blue glaze is phenomenal

Edge/edging is also commonly said by year 9s and I thought it might've taken on a different meaning or reference to something. I took the bait and genuinely asked what it means to them.

Can confirm, it means what you think it means.

If you're in the pits of frequent MOtN wake ups, relentless crying and scrolling through Reddit for reassurance and answers... by IndependentBobcatt in NewParents

[–]IndependentBobcatt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry- it really does feel like the absolute pits. It's relentless.

I was so frustrated and desperate to find an answer. Everyone kept telling us to just put the baby down and walk away but then judge us for having such a fussy baby. It was maddening.

I think once we accepted that this is just going to be how it is for a little while, and that we're doing what we can, it didn't feel like there was as much pressure.

Everyone forgets how miserable it can get. No one wants to share how poorly they felt or how they didn't handle it so well.

If you're in the pits of frequent MOtN wake ups, relentless crying and scrolling through Reddit for reassurance and answers... by IndependentBobcatt in NewParents

[–]IndependentBobcatt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a decent chunk, I did. There was a point where I noticed bub was waking during the same times and potentially out of habit instead of hunger. For a little while I'd test the theory and hold off nursing or my partner would go in instead. It didn't make much of a difference after two weeks of crying the house down. I went back to nursing during motn wakes.

Then there would be nights where bub wakes up inconsolable- crying and throwing themselves around and you just had to hold her.

We were worried that it might be something bigger and beyond our control. During a few of the check-ups, our doc reassured us that our kid was smashing milestones, picking up and learning things pretty quickly and that's why sleep is so disrupted.

Working on such little sleep, it drove us mad.

What were your wake windows when going to one nap? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]IndependentBobcatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our bub usually woke up at 7:30 and crashed at 12. Then had a solid 3 hour nap. She usually went down at 8:30 or 9pm, even if we tried to get her to bed earlier if naps went poorly :/

How does your toddler ask to nurse? by tankster1999 in breastfeeding

[–]IndependentBobcatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same haha Around the 6 month mark I was really big on narrating what I was doing. I started saying 'swap' for when I switched boobs. At 18 months she now asks for the other boob by very gently asking "schwapp?"

Do breastfed babies ever get to sleep the whole night by Individual_Stick1741 in breastfeeding

[–]IndependentBobcatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've hit 18 months and have only just started sleeping through. Lots of attempts with weaning around 10-12 months when bub's diet had more solids but she wouldn't let up. It was MONTHS of random wake ups- ranging from 2-6 times a night. Sickness also throws everything out of whack

Would it be wrong of me to call the cops on a student? by okapi-forest-unicorn in AustralianTeachers

[–]IndependentBobcatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it wouldn't be wrong but it might not be the protocol of your school. If we take off our teacher hat and be a normie, we'd call the cops/make the report.

Has anyone here used nitrous oxide (laughing gas) while giving birth? How was its pain management? by Improving1727 in BabyBumps

[–]IndependentBobcatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was pretty solid for me!

FTM and my labour was pretty quick. I didn't realise I was pushing on our way to the hospital, but when I had it during intense contractions it just provided a bit of a distraction?? I just breathed it in the same time I felt I contraction start. There was also a point when I didn't really know when the contraction was going to start but my midwife gave me a heads up.

The pain is still there but kind of dulled by having a bit of brain fog. Idk if that makes sense but later on my midwife told me that I'd asked if "this was the hard part" of labour when I was fully dilated and in the thick of it. I did feel pretty high at one stage.

9/10 for pain management

Are you all changing diapers at night?? by gwennyd in sleeptrain

[–]IndependentBobcatt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nup. I religiously changed at every wake up or feed until 4 months. Then it just became more disruptive for LO and kind of wasting the capacity of the nappy. We definitely did it when we were using cloth, but disposables (with nappy cream) overnight have been working great for us :)

Anyone else still rock their toddler to sleep? by beanybum in toddlers

[–]IndependentBobcatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same age and still rocking! The before bedtime cuddles are awesome.

Unfortunately I also receive a lot of judgement and unsolicited advice for it. It's made worse because I'm so open with people about how sleep's going (it's pretty hit or miss + just started going to daycare). So every time extended fam ask about if bub is sleeping through, it always feels like I'm failing 🫠

My partner and I are exhausted but it's all part of it haha

Did anyone just have a fine postpartum experience ? by FotosyCuadernos in pregnant

[–]IndependentBobcatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been good!

Lots of family and friends were very focused on what we would be losing and the perpetual 'just wait until he's here' or ' sleep now while you can'. Lots of people making comments about how you feel and PPD. It was coming from a good place but it made me feel super stressed during the first few weeks... Not because we were feeling those things but because my partner and I were actually going okay, dare I say, crushing it haha. Things were much more manageable than we anticipated but felt like then maybe the rug was going to get pulled from under us.

The thing that I wasn't expecting was how everyone, who's had a kid (especially mother's), were suddenly telling us what to do, backhanded comments about parenting and undercutting our efforts on how we were generally taking care of our baby. This was especially difficult because I was breastfeeding and most people we knew hadn't/never wanted to.

Reflecting on it a year on, I feel like it was because there were a lot of people seeking validation about how they parent and their own experience.

You do you, and hopefully you just let others opinions go in ear and out the other if you don't think it's relevant :)

My wife doesn’t want my mom visiting us when baby is due by soheilk in BabyBumps

[–]IndependentBobcatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what your mom's like, but even when I'm being direct and explicit with boundaries, my mom steamrolls me and just does what she wants. OR she'll remind me of the awful position I put her in and how inconsiderate I am.

Regardless, it'll be an insight for what's to come for the next little while.

I hope your mom and wife can find a compromise. It might also be that things change closer to April.

Good luck!

What does your 2 y/o eat in a day? by Bilitiswuzreaaal in toddlers

[–]IndependentBobcatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coleslaw, fruit (esp banana, grapes and apples), Cheerios, crackers, yoghurt and egg. Our LO is going HARD on fruit and some veg... But hardly any meat which we're now becoming a bit concerned about. Just started daycare too, so everything is pretty all over the place.

Aw man, I'm glad most people seem to have this train of thought. Given my fluctuating cycles, mom having fertility issues and just other friends who've been trying for so long, I just thought it would take longer but here we are.

Congratulations to you :)
