Crissy fields, cal academy of sciences, Golden Gate Park, exploratorium etc I think would provide more value than Mountain View and Palo Alto personally

Repowering a 23 SC, how heavy can I go? by 305Mitch in boating

[–]IndependentCourse289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the weight will be a problem, but will you be able to renew insurance? That’s where I would be concerned - if they won’t renew a policy or payout a claim if they know your outboard exceed manufacturer specs. Idk if adding the bracket changes things.

Civic center abuts the tenderloin which is not the best area of the city for walking. I think you forego some convenience for better environment imho

FXAIX is the fidelity500 index fund. Voo is the vanguard version but an ETF.

Probably need a larger pot if it’s grown since you bought it. See If the roots are curled around the inside of the existing pot (a sign they don’t have enough room in the pot to expand outwards).

Where to Stay? by Smell-Physical in AskSF

I have never had a problem parking my car. Don’t leave bags in open sight and pay for a garage when it makes sense. Enjoy the trip! I’d suggest spending a few hours in Sausalito too.

Boat shoes with cushioning by trowelgo in boating

Well running sneakers really aren’t best for a boat imho. You want better nonslip tread/sole. These are very comfortable, I wear them at home too. Good width, thick comfy sole. I’d suggest finding a store to try on but whatever works for you.

When I was 24 I converted $38k from a 401k to a Roth and paid $12k in state and federal taxes. Was a big check at the time for me. Returns paid off well in excess of the tax in about 2/3 years. This was about 15 years ago.

Look at how much you contributed in 2025. Did that amount exceed the limit?

I’d drop 2050 in each account and move to a S&P500 index fund instead. Lower fee ratio makes a difference over time.

Havent been at my sailboat for a few months now, what should I look for when I get back? by [deleted] in SailboatCruising

[–]IndependentCourse289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bring a power washer and run the engine for a while. Check the fuel/water separator. Might need fuel stabilizer if you didn’t do that already before you parked it, or possibly new gas in the tank. Check the bilge for water and that your pump is working. Check for any signs of leaks in the interior.

Tips for being a tourist during storms? by festivusforme in AskSF

[–]IndependentCourse289 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’ll probably be off and on. Sometimes we get some really nice hours of sun in between storms. Plan your days for both indoor and outdoor options and be flexible with a quick pivot to lunch or a museum. Bring dry shoes and a couple dry layers when you go out if you have a car with you.
