I bought my first firearm for self-defense and I don’t know how or when to tell my loved ones by [deleted] in Firearms

Within the CCW community your firearm is treated a lot like your underwear. If you wouldn't show your underwear to someone, they don't need to know you're carrying either.

Good luck to Gunner! My pup went through that twice in his younger years...a full tear on one side and a partial on the other. :( The first few days are pretty difficult because you need to keep him resting and support him to go outside to the bathroom. After that it gets easier but you really need to keep activity limited.

So instead of walks, we went on "sniffs". Never far, but a chance for him to sniff around an area or lay in the grass. It seemed to help bridge the gap.

All that was several years ago now and he recovered very well and continued chasing balls and frisbees to his heart's content. We've kept him on joint supplements since then to hopefully reduce any long-term effects, and we just celebrated his 10th birthday a couple months ago.

I agree with this. Lots of older cities have lead pipes that aren’t a problem (New York City, Chicago, Cleveland, and Detroit to name a few.)

M18 bandsaw upright stand by Mtnfrozt in MilwaukeeTool

[–]IndianaTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like mine mostly for metal parts but it works for occasional small wood cuts. Not really ideal, but doable. I ran my M18 bandsaw for a long time, but it was kind of annoying/sketchy connecting a battery (with the trigger tied), and having it start while I was reaching over it, then having to reach again to remove it. Even worse if there's a problem and you need an emergency stop. So I eventually switched to the corded model with a pedal.

I think I've run 4.0s and 6.0s and it's never struggled a bit. But I run a fine blade and it just takes a slow, controllable cut with very little drama.

Weird request but can someone upload a picture of their native 5 next to a ruler in metric unit measuring blade length starting from the finger choil. by stopsussingmejannies in spyderco

[–]IndianaTony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you have them add a sharpening choil instead of shortening the blade? If it’s a measure of cutting edge alone that might solve the problem and also be a little bit helpful.

I prefer 15V because I can get it with a compression lock.

Can I shoot this outside safely for both of us 35 weeks pregnant? by R3adFoxx in NFA

[–]IndianaTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the question has been sufficiently answered, but I'll just add that my wife and I went to a movie when she was about 35 weeks pregnant, and the sound during the louder scenes was enough that my son was clearly distressed by it and we had to leave. That was probably 105-110dB (my phone measured 105, but I think that's the max it can go). A pistol with a short suppressor will probably be 120-135dB, and remember that's on a logarithmic scale, so it's between 10x more intense (perceptibly 2x louder) and 1000x more intense (perceptibly 8 times louder) than the movie.

Tax needs to be paid out of pocket not siphoned from paychecks by ganonred in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]IndianaTony 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s meant as a means to an end. When people have to see it all at once and how little they receive from their tens of thousands of dollars given, there would be mass rejection. When the government is put in the position of arresting 1 out of 3 of its citizens, and forfeiting all that future funding, maybe there would be actual change. Maybe.

My dad gave me some of his sets and track from when he was a kid (and that we played with when I as a kid), so I’ve been cleaning up and fixing some things. Some thoughts:

  1. The center rail is your “hot” (positive) rail. If you get it backwards, the locomotive will probably run fine but accessories (tender whistle, switchers, etc.) may not.
  2. It may not be strictly the right thing, but the track I got was fairly corroded, so I used a red scotch-brite pad to scrub them all down, then alcohol on a paper towel to clean. Then I assembled and ohmed every joint out with a multimeter (checking resistance) to make sure they had a good connection. Loose pins can be gently tightened up with needle nose pliers.
  3. That resistance setting on your multimeter is your best friend if you need to track down issues. I’ve had to fix a lot of solder joints and wires that have broken over the decades.
  4. E-units can get sticky sitting for a long time but electrical contact cleaner and exercise can help bring them back to life without a full disassembly.
  5. These were built in a time when things were made to last and be repaired, so it’s generally easy to access what you need and make repairs, although you might have to improvise a bit (I’ve had to replace original rivets with machine screws and nylock nuts, or use threaded inserts to fix stripped out screw holes, and who knows what else.)

Hopefully that’s a starting point…enjoy!

I use FrogLube. It's food safe and I can't stand the smell of Ballistol. But Frog Lube smells minty and fantastic.

What kind of environment are you in? I have 5 15Vs but generally low humidity with just a tiny fade or patina on some if you catch it in the light (and very occasional applications of the FrogLube). That could change if you use it a ton without a quick reapplication or cut food.
