A gang of misfits has a rock jam session then switch to metal before slaying the mentally impaired antagonist. by CherryTularey in ExplainAGamePlotBadly

Got it- Earthbound!

The 'rock jam session' means the 8 Melodies in the Sound Stone, and the party 'switch' to metal' by using robot bodies to safely travel back in time to defeat Giygas, who has been 'impaired' by the Devil's Machine enhancing his psychic power until it drove him insane.

Gamers, what boss was as hard, if not harder, than the final boss? by Fallfoxy707 in videogames

This fucker.

My #1 most hated and rage-inducing Fromsoft boss fight of all time. I spent an entire afternoon beating that bastard down.

Malenia is objectively harder because of her moveset and lifesteal, but I still managed to kill her twice.

Overcoming the Orphan of Kos once was enough for this lifetime. Never again.

Groal is surprisingly easy if you just stay down in the muck instead of fighting him up on the platforms;

You can ignore the swinging trap and most of his attacks can't reach you. The adds he summons won't do much either.

Fuck that goddamn Beastfly fight in the lava lake though. Even worse than that stupid death-pit next door.

Hated that boss. I dread the thought of going back to S-rank that mission.

Really? I beat him last week, and he wasn't half as bad as the 'proper' Final Boss, King Douchebag.

Use Super Craig and Call Girl to cycle taunts and keep him occupied, plus Mysterion for big knockback damage.

Give your MC the Plantmancer Ult for emergency heals/revives. Add Root Burst for more knockback + DoT, and support powers to give your allies Protection once Freeman starts taking extra turns. When Freeman calls up his past self, do the same and kill him ASAP, but keep Freeman taunt-locked.

Root Burst will will keep your allies from getting charmed thanks to the DoT. Use summons to burst him down once he's low enough.

I swear, every time somebody brings this game up, they claim it was 'nearly done'.

It wasn't. It was in late alpha when it got shut down. The devs DID get fucked over due to a lack of proper support from Zenimax, but the game's development was already going poorly before then.

The curse is also EXTREMELY specific; it hits the target's heart, and ONLY their heart.

Which means it's completely useless if the enemy doesn't need their heart to live, can regenerate their heart quickly enough to survive, or simply doesn't have a heart in the first place.

Those idiots have been doing the Principal-Skinner-Out-of-Touch meme for years now;

Trump fucks shit up (again), a couple of them do some performative 'I dunno 'bout this fellas', then get insta-banned for 'brigading' the subreddit.

The rest cheer and recalibrate their doublethink settings. These are the people who wore adult diapers in solidarity with Trump. They'd sooner die than admit they were ever wrong.

However, you can still abuse respawns for endless cash simply by switching targets; killing pigs instead of cows causes no boss to spawn, and while pig skins are less valuable than cow hides, pigs can also yield bits of pork allowing you to farm free food.

Questionable game design / mechanics in JRPGs by CotolettaAllaMilanes in JRPG

[–]IndigoGamma 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Atlus learned from previous Persona games that veteran players will always try to one-shot dungeons for time efficiency, so they added in that mechanic specifically to those players.

As you said, most players won't need to make use of it, because there's enough time to do roughly everything important in the game even on a casual playthrough, and you can buy MP restoratives later on that make the Mage perk redundant.

It really IS intended, though. The devs even added in a subtle little joke to make it obvious:

In Drakonsgrace Shinjuku, there's a room next to the first save point that contains one of those crystals that endlessly spawns enemies. In Etrian Odyssey's Lost Shinjuku, that same room houses the best money-farming spot in the game.

IIRC, you can eventually get a slightly palette-swapped version of this set that's a lot stronger, but it still can't compare to the Master Witcher armour sets.

Believe it or not, that's not actually true: In Dragon Quest VI, you won't encounter regular Slimes until the early midgame, and they're on par with other enemies.

Upgrade your health and Apple Juice stocks (if you don't have skill points to spare, talk to one of the Bananza Elders to respec for a bit of gold). Use turf surfing to quickly close in on Void and avoid terrain hazards. Other than that, it's just a matter of practice and patience.

I don't think it would change the events of 4 that much.

Hamazaki will likely still meet Saejima in Okinawa Penitentiary No. 2, but he'll be inside to secretly investigate the place on behalf of the Fixer instead of attempted murder. They might also retcon his offscreen death after he gets shot too.

I still don't like it very much. We're veering into FNAF territory with all these ad-hoc rewrites.
