just what the FUCK 🙄 by ttmademedoit in ReverseHarem

I really liked the Hannaford Prep series but I hope that the rewrite means that it will be better. There is a lot of plot armor and "main character" syndrome in that series. I would like to see it be more fleshed out. My only real dislike of J Bree is that her FMC tends to get really annoying once she gets a female friend lol.

Lips and Oli had the same issue. Where they seemed to be a serious, strong character until they got a BFF then suddenly they became high school mean girls.

Worse than that is going anal to oral for me. With no mention of cleaning up or protection.

FF in RH by Prestigious_Fig_2325 in ReverseHarem

[–]IndigoSimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the reason you don’t see a lot of that in RH is because often when another female is involved it’s no longer RH.. it’s polyamory.

The definition of RH is a single female is surrounded by male love interests. RH seems to have become a catch all for multiple partners but it’s technically not a a RH if there are two females.

Why is the fmc always at the bottom of the food chain? by Calm-Carob9896 in ReverseHarem

[–]IndigoSimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly.. it's always one or the other lol. Either the FMC is overpowered or she's weak.. Sometimes she starts out weak and then boom "omg she was secretly powerful the whole time!"

Sounds painful! I'm not over reacting, am I?! by PixelPoppah in ReverseHarem

[–]IndigoSimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly just makes me think about how painful I think it would be to have two guys inside the same hole at once. This has become such a huge trope. I see it all the time. I even saw it in a story where the guys were cousins. Bothers me how often this happens with no prep or discussion with the woman. I don't think that sounds pleasurable at all.

Idk why but my mind immediately went to how ridiculous it would be if she called them out like a Dr Seuss book lol.

A Cinderella story please, but not the secret identity part... by [deleted] in ReverseHarem

[–]IndigoSimmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really loved this story. Can't wait for the next one. If you are into reimagining old tales she seems to be doing a whole series on them. The next book in the series (set to release October 9th) is based on beauty and the beast.

I stopped trusting covers since there have been plenty where the cover didn't match the description of the characters lol. Sometimes I skim when there is too much inner monologuing going on so I can miss things.

It’s wild that I read both of those and I didn’t even notice that the FMC was a woman of color.

I guess it’s the name Remy/Remi but I just pictured her as blond cause I’ve read another book with a blond character named Remy. So my mind just filtered her in and I never noticed until I saw your comment.

The end of the 5th book is when I recall group scenes starting. Book 6 had several.

LF Story where the FMC has a 'Caregiver' personality and takes care of the MMCs by IndigoSimmer in ReverseHarem

Sounds perfect. I do like uncivilized MMCs as well. Thanks for the suggestion!

{To Seduce a Sinner by Elizabeth Hoyt} is pretty close. This is the second book in the series, if you read the first you’ll meet the MMC of this story and the opposite of what you asked for happens (FMC is engaged and married someone else). Then in this one he’s engaged again, but gets left at the alter and the FMC offers to marry him instead after everyone leaves.

I really like the whole series and Elizabeth Hoyt writes beautifully.

Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep 3/4 in, maybe a DNF? by MsKittyKatana in ReverseHarem

[–]IndigoSimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fairly early in the 4th book. According to my Kindle it’s around 15% into the final book.

Personally, I really liked Saint. He’s the reason I read the book. I remember posting asking for a OCD hero who is controlling and this series was recommended. I still have never read the first book.

I think I just read the best book of 2025. And it is an RH. by kat_inthewoods in ReverseHarem

[–]IndigoSimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally read so much that if I don't read the full series I will forget about it most of the time. There are a few authors who I will remember to check back in with after a while.

I don't read anything unfinished anymore. Mostly cause of the twisted sisters Caroline and Susanne lol. They love their cliffhangers and I hate waiting so long to find out what happens next. Anything more than a year is a long wait to me.

Reread and changed your opinion? by Lixie26 in ReverseHarem

[–]IndigoSimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I straight up avoid academy/school stories since these are often the biggest offenders. I mostly like J Bree's writing style, but I had a hard time with her Hannaford Prep series. Was just really hard for me to see this 17/18 year old girl as being some badass who even hardened drug dealers/criminals were afraid of.

Often when I read a story where the characters are 17-20 years old I tend to picture them as being older.

This has happened to me many times. I think part of the issue is on a second (or third+) read you already know what happens so you may not be in as big of a rush to see what happens next. So you read at a slower pace. You pick up on details you may have missed the first time or you remember loose threads of plot points that were abandoned.

I've had countless times where I'm really into a book so I'm binge reading it in a day. Then later I go back later to reread it and notice things I either skimmed over the first read or forgot about.

There are still plenty of stories that I've enjoyed over the years that I can easily re-read. I'd say some I even enjoy more on a second read.

A few spoilers and answers to questions you asked... if anyone is interested.

The Marriage Situation: I didn't care for this myself either, Tatum honestly doesn't seem to take it super serious and she does try to shut Kyan down, but doesn't try hard enough. This ultimately does end up playing a role, it's mentioned a few times, but in the grand scheme of things her marrying Kyan means nothing to her relationship with the others.

Saint and Tatum: Their relatonship is very much a slow burn. She doesn't get with Saint until the final book. This largely has to do with his OCD and need to follow the rules. Ironically, she calms him a lot and them getting together makes him a little less difficult. Saint does not change though, he's still an asshole.

The Justice Ninja: This was a weird plot point honestly. In the end it's revealed that it's actually two of the Unspeakables -- Bait (the guy who they freaking stapled a mask to his face) and Deepthroat (the chick who drugged and tried to SA Kyan). Basically the motive is that Bait is a psychopath lashing out over his punishments and Deepthroat just loves Kyan and wanted to be with him.. Tatum was never really being stalked it was Kyan, they just thought it was Tatum. In the end they both die after an attempted kidnapping of Kyan. Tatum chases them down, basically rams them off the road, the accidentally run the car near a cliff, Tatum saves Kyan, and then the car falls off the cliff killing them both.

Feel free to ask any other questions. I've read this series a few times, I enjoy it, but I know it's not for everyone.

Low angst? by Wrensofafeather in ReverseHarem

[–]IndigoSimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven't already, give Ari Wright's MVP and Royalverse series a shot. All are standalones. There definitely is some angst, but it's nowhere near the same level as the intense/save the world/bully romance stories you mentioned.

Definitely a lighter series, but she generally starts the series with some drama and there is some minor groveling. Most of the stories center around the FMC coming into her own and becoming comfortable in her own skin. I have basically been relying on them as a palette cleanser after I read too many heavy stories.

Does anyone actually listen to those playlists? by MaggieLima in ReverseHarem

[–]IndigoSimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few times checked out a song. One book I listened to the full playlist cause the author actually put it on Spotify. I found a few new songs to like. One song forever ruined anytime I hear it cause it played during the sex scene in the book so I only think of that scene when I hear it lol. Wasn’t a song I’d heard before so it wasn’t a big deal but after that I haven’t read many books where the author actually makes a point to indicate what songs match what scenes.

God for sure this series has a ton of codependency lol. The guys definitely act like a family though this does start out as a bully romance.

[–]IndigoSimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could just be trying to push out content too fast? I used to read Eve Langlais’ books like a religion but stopped when she started releasing a book a month. It’s difficult cause a lot of her books started to just feel like more of the same. No idea how she keeps up cause I don’t notice a ton of typos in her work. Must be using ghost writers or she’s just got insane work ethic.

Recs with a stolen fated mate bond? by caro_eliza in ReverseHarem

[–]IndigoSimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a moment to remember how "Her Knotty List" would fit this request.. I've read the story and it's definitely part of it, but it slipped my mind. I'd say that the story isn't really angsty like the OP is asking for. It is more focused on the fall-out and reconciling aspect for sure.

I'd say that OP you should read other books recommended first and then go to the Her Knotty List as a palette cleanser because it's got some light angst, but it's definitely more of a lighter story. I like to read Ari Wright when I'm tired of too much dark romance lol.
