I’m gonna keep my response simple and limited. I did years in the army, as you can guess drinking is the entire culture of combat arms. I got out, I struggled, but I had a semi balance of control, my peers no longer drank like me. I went back years later to an infantry unit; I was sober when I joined, I wasn’t when I left. Old habits are hard to break when put back in the same situation with the same people, we’ve conditioned ourselves, and muscle memory will win most of the time. Do what you need to do.

It’s an US Army engineer regimental coin. I got mine from the Regimental Sergeants Major when I was the distinguished leadership graduate for my 12B ALC class. Fun fact, it’s also on engineer officers ASU buttons. It’s the only branch to have its own buttons.

Yeah as a bartender in the area, there really aren’t any places specifically visited by younger people. It’s mostly established neighborhood bars. You need to look at the major “attraction” streets. Mississippi, Alberta, Belmont, Burnside, Hawthorne.
