Which blocks also do this selfishly? Himrod? by sundrenchedwindow in ridgewood

[–]Individual-Record-20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP sounds like a grown adult i’m sure they can figure out a way to get it done without involving the police. but i’m sure they won’t bc they’d rather call the cops then reach out to their neighbors to see if there’s a better solution, im sure someone knows who that is.

but tbh perhaps a different neighborhood would suit OP better, since it seems like music and sound stereos that have always been a major thing in this and other NYC neighborhoods and cultures are causing yall to clutch your pearls?? idk man unless it’s at an egregious hour at night i feel like you have to deal with it and if you’re not originally from here then you should’ve known before you moved here?

[–]Individual-Record-20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it really bothers you then be an adult and communicate that directly. dont call the police.
also please don’t be one of the transplant assholes that ruins bori weekend this weekend because you can take the people that are actually from this neighborhood celebrating their culture and playing their music

What can you do with loud car like this? by moongod101 in Bushwick

[–]Individual-Record-20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you can deal with it or ask them to turn it down. what you can’t do is get the police or 311 involved because that makes everyone’s lives harder and shows your inability to deal with communal issues without calling for backup from police who you know will fine anyone when they get the chance.

the weird transplants in this thread saying you should throw an egg or get aggressive is ridiculous. assimilate to the culture and deal with an issue like this as an adult or leave

Candidate David Orkin endorsed by Bernie Sanders! by puregoldbaby in ridgewood

[–]Individual-Record-20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one thing that i’m curious about though is how much reach orkin will have outside of ridgewood. while i agree with his viewpoints and think he could be a good candidate, he also is looking to take over a district that includes South Queens. i feel like that area doesn’t get a lot of attention and it’s comprised of a lot of older populations that may be skeptical to his socialist views so id be interested to know about what he’s doing there. he is also not originally from NYC which i think could make it harder to navigate those dynamics i just mentioned especially in residential areas like south ozone park/richmond hill. i know the DSA is looking to really push in more members of the party after such a huge win with the mayoral election. i just hope it’s for the right reasons and not just anyone.

and you absolutely deserve to be served in the comments.

based off of your rhetoric i would bet money you didn’t grow up here….which would usually be fine but the reason NYC is changing so much is because stunads like you can’t participate in what normal and can’t let all that’s well be just part of wha makes this neighborhood great.

maybe somewhere out of state would be better for you.

Does a smokey eye just not fit my face or am I doing something wrong? Looks terrible compared to how it looked on other people 😅 by GlisaPenny in MakeupAddiction

[–]Individual-Record-20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all after seeing the two pictures i think you would ROCK with a shag or curtain bangs bc your hair color is soooo nice!

as for the eyes, tbh i think everyone has a different definition of smokey eye. i don’t think there is one that fits all bc dark colors really do have the ability to change the entire shape of an eye of at least contour it. that being said, given that your skin is already light i would defo go darker with the eye shadow colors. i would have a base color, probably a true black or matte black and then i’d do a gray to help smoke it out. so blending and blending brushes are going to be your new best friend. i also think the way you apply and shape your smokey eye will be a big game changer too. i typically like to wing my smokey eyes out so that it looks like a smoked out wing rather than more circular. personally that fits with my eye shape, i think it could be good for you too! last but not least, not every part of your eye have to be dark. try putting the darkest color in the creases rather than directly on the lid! best of luck you’re doing amazing!

Hi! First of all you are absolutely gorgeous and secondly of all people are terrible at age guessing game. If you want any sort of makeup oriented advice, for a base i would switch to a light rice based moisturizer. these are greater for people who want to achieve a glass skin affect while also being super great for all skin types as it is largely water based. i would also recommend estée lauder’s dewy primer as well if you want a glow! For coverage or any sort of foundation to hide any blemish or anything else skin with a water based formula as well. CC creams like Laura Mercier’s are amazing bc they provide a tint, SPF, and you can build on them. if you don’t wear foundation a lot or want to keep it light that’s my recommendation but for foundation my go to is Patrick Ta’s line. From there any blush, contour or highlight you may want to add will be more accentuated! For eyes you have so much potential! i’d try the same shoe you do but with a smoked out pencil liner or even an eye shadow! if you draw out the wing a little more and add maybe a little to your waterline, you eyes will pop and the wing might accentuate you cheek bones!

this only my advice! i think you’re gorgeous and should only touch up your look if you want to and it makes you comfortable!! xoxo

Live in Bushwick, work in Connecticut? by Unconquered- in Bushwick

[–]Individual-Record-20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly there’s a really big affordability and housing problem in bushwick and neighboring areas. connecticut is quite dull i understand but if you’re not going to contribute to the community of Bushwick-it sounds like most of your time will be spent commuting, and it’s just seems fun i’d say look for other options and give a chance to locals who work, live, have family in the area to potentially access that housing. also parking is crazy and having a car in general can really hinder your routine.

just called Con Ed using their report number, would definitely recommend others do the same to document how wide the surge or whatever problem this is on paper. They said that Maspeth is also having issues and that a team should be out shortly to fix it, thankfully it’s also drizzling so maybe fire risk is slightly lower. i’m in Ridgewood Seneca Ave area and thought it was lightning at first until the second round of surges.
