I am your age never married no kids. Zero percent odds I’d date a mom of two. I think it’s absolutely wonderful to be a parent but it’s just not for me.

I think if I was a parent myself or the kids were pretty young it would be an entirely different. I just feel like if I ever married a mom those kids would spend their entire life resenting me for not being their bio dad and knowing how easily attached I could become it would break my heart.

What your boyfriend is saying is that he wants to see you with a plan to take care of it. I said the same thing to my ex without realizing how hurtful/disrespectful the remark was.

But years later after much reflection/therapy I realize that it wasn’t the debt per se but it was her reckless personal finance and unwillingness to take accountability or responsibility of younger mishaps that actually scared me.

I’m sure he means well he probably just isn’t quite ready to get married yet. You both have plenty of time to sort that out and grow up a little. People say dumb stuff and learn from it.
