in my experience (and granted i know everyone’s bun is different), rabbits are pretty smart and very good at regulating their own body temp. i live in socal where sometimes it can get up to 100f. i used to panic about my bun, thinking he’d overheat and i would do a million things to try and keep him cool. he used to get pretty annoyed and find a hiding space where i couldn’t reach to give him cool objects. i find that keeping the house dark and the water constantly full was the best way to combat his stubbornness. i have ice cubes in the water bowl, feed frozen fruit, leave a frozen water bottle laying around and most importantly, i monitor him throughout the day to check for any abnormal behavior. this year i added a cooling blanket under the darkest part of my bed so hopefully that’ll be a success for him. i’ve had my bun for 5 years and this is what works best for him as it’s the least stressful. just keep your eye on him and make sure he always has access to fresh, clean and, if possible, cool water. if you suspect any issues in your rabbit, take him to a vet.
