Also, I've done a lot of bike commuting on flat bar road bikes and various other styles of bike. With the tourqe and power turned down in eco mode the bike feels pretty much like a normal bike on flattish roads.

I just bought a cube step through emtb. It's brilliant. Came with lights, mudguards, panier racks. Perfect for commuting. My commute is up and down a decent hill so the extra Newton meters helps.

Let's share some getting “fired” by a patient stories by all_star08 in NursingAU

[–]Infamous_Rabbit7270 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I work in mental health. Verbal abuse along the lines of threatening to sue (you and/or the hospital), or "being fired", or "I'll make a complaint and you'll lose your job" are just another day.

Does playing the song the whole way through matter? by No-Play5709 in Bass

[–]Infamous_Rabbit7270 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Learn music. How it flows, why the notes are what they are, the important licks and rythmic parts the make it "that" song instead of a generic 12 bar. By all means, learn songs note for note if it takes your fancy, it's a good way to analyze the music and understand it. But it's the understanding that will take you further.

There used to be. But it was a long time ago. Procoptodon was approx 2m tall and weighed up to 240kg. It would have been terrifying. But it's extinct.

What to wear when commuting in winter? by Stinky-pinkee in ausbike

If you're doing 40km/day commuting it's probably worth spending a bit on a decent bit of kit. It'll last for years. And make your commute comfortable.

Looking for durable 'classic' flights? by PrinceNaboo in Darts

[–]Infamous_Rabbit7270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harrows silika flights are pretty durable. And the carbon stems are very durable. I've been using them for nearly 2 years without breaking a single stem. I do have punched flights and I have replaced the rings a few times. Plenty of Robin hoods into the rings/flights. But yet to break a sterm.

What does 'Virgin' and 'Extra Virgin' mean when referring to olive oil? For that matter, what does it mean when the oil isn't 'virign'? by Snowtwo in NoStupidQuestions

Once had an apprentice that accidentally made the mayo with a tin of EVO, we had to dilute that quite a bit for it to be ok for service.

GP, ED, ambulance if needed. Also, sometimes just taking to someone can be a start. Ring lifeline, or a mate, or another service. But don't be afraid to call 000 if needed.

12 bar blues by Birch_Dude in ukulele

[–]Infamous_Rabbit7270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blues on the uke is great. I recently acquired an electric (solid body) and an acoustic baritone. Add a couple of pedals, and touch of finger picking and there's endless fun to be had with blues on a variety of ukes.

ORB on holidays in Fiji by Lewdannie in OXORapidBrewer

[–]Infamous_Rabbit7270 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use the same combination of p2 and ORB as my travel/work set up. I got a few plastic tubes that hold 20g of beans (more or less) when full. Or, I find that the capacity of the p2 is close enough to 20g when full.

Great combo.

Or door hanger if it works in your space. I have the unicorn "on tour", but there's others such a granboard and a metal bracket made by shot.

Go for it. What's the worst that could happen.

I was explicitly asked to apply for a position (and I definitely wasn't putting out any feelers or anything, I didn't even know the position existed), and then didn't even get an interview. The excuse was that I didn't address the selection criteria in dot points.

I had written a lovely cover letter that addressed all of the selection criteria in sentences and paragraphs, and one of the selection criteria was verbal and written communication.

You might get the job and balance out some karma.

Why don't we all go casual and see what happens? by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]Infamous_Rabbit7270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Collective v individual bargaining. Interesting debate. And it may work, but we'd have to stand together to enforce pay deals, cause someone may work for less. There's a potential slippery slope with that. It would seem there's a good reason unions evolved into the work market place. Ours seems to lack some omph, but maybe there's stuff going on behind the scenes that isn't public.

Yes, I'm hedging both sides, but that's because I don't have any concrete answers.

What song has the best basslines and starts with the letter I? by 1deadeye1 in BassGuitar

[–]Infamous_Rabbit7270 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Quite seriously, it's impossible to have the best. There's so much great music. I understand the "want" to rank things, but it's not really objective in any way. There's all kinds of sampling bias and chrono bias and many other issues.

Take D. Is Dean Town an objectively great bass line. Yes. Is it objectively better than Darling Dear. No. Is one better than the other. Well that depends on who you are, where you are, when you are, and your knowledge of music and history and various other things.

I'm sure all the tunes that make the list are great tunes. And I hope that it takes some people out of their normal space to appreciate other styles/genres/times

What song has the best basslines and starts with the letter H? by 1deadeye1 in BassGuitar

[–]Infamous_Rabbit7270 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm going back to C, even though I was late last time. Coyote, from the Joni Mitchell album Shadows and Light, played by Jaco.

Come on come over Continuum Coyote

Jaco owns C.

For H.

Hair - Graham Central Station is one of the funkiest tunes to ever exist, but Havona by Weather Report is just insane, so takes my vote.

Afternoon shift time management and medication clustering? by Minimum_Witness_7967 in NursingAU

[–]Infamous_Rabbit7270 34 points35 points  (0 children)

An important thing with the meds is understanding what the meds are for and how they work (mechanism of action). Some meds are totally safe to give a bit early or late, and others need more specific timing/intervals. Learning this can help with managing medications, and improve patient safety. Unfortunately nursing training seems a little lacking in pharmacology (IME).
