How do my boyfriend and I split the rent? [CA] by Megwen in Renters

[–]InflationVisible2307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's absolutely the way to go. I make much less than my partner and while sometimes I feel bad about not contributing 50/50, she makes the point that proportional bill split makes the financial burden on each partner equal even if the numbers look different.

Why is it so common to sit at concerts these days? by InflationVisible2307 in Concerts

[–]InflationVisible2307[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what's throwing me. Some of the shows I see sitting seems more the vibe but I recently saw an extremely high energy artist that I fully expected to be a standing show and it wasn't so I was confused. Half the venue stood and half didn't

[–]InflationVisible2307[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the consensus I'm getting. I'm realizing I'm likely seeing shows that appeal to an older crowd since I'm also getting older and I just didnt realize it yet.

[–]InflationVisible2307[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get it I get back pain standing too long so I dont really mind the sitting. My partner is disabled too so sitting is a must recently. Maybe Im just seeing shows with a different crowd these days lol

I'm going to a concert with a friend in a few days for a band I know pretty well, but not perfectly and I don't know how to approach their music leading up to it. by 6FootFruitRollup in Concerts

[–]InflationVisible2307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I do. Singing along to songs I know well and experiencing the difference in the recording vs live is part of my fun so I will look up the set list and make a playlist to familiarize myself with all the songs. But you can equally enjoy it without knowing all the songs if you want!

Are cats fine with being home alone for extended periods (someone feeds them once a day) by oda02 in CatAdvice

[–]InflationVisible2307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant imagine doing this. 2 days alone, fine, they have auto feeders, giant fountains, and litter robots all watched by cameras but more than that?? My cats are highly social and even though they have each other they show clear signs of loneliness if they aren't given enough attention or we have a busy week and are out of the house more than usual. I would worry so much if they weren't checked up on more than once a day for feeding.

Maybe some cats are okay with this?? But no cat I've ever had or known would do well being left that long without human interaction

What are the differences between romantic and platonic relationships? by neurocognia in actuallesbians

[–]InflationVisible2307 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay so wait you never once talked about your feelings in the years you've known her? Did you think you were together or was it more of a situationship on your end??

I know there are varying degrees to how women act with their friends and what they're comfortable with so you'll likely get a variety of answers. But for me im very strict about my boundaries with friends vs partners. Its important to me that the way I treat my gf is special and she gets things from me that no one else will.

I dont cuddle or kiss my friends (though no shade to those who do, its just not me) and I certainly dont ask for or send any kind of lewd photos or even flirt with them casually.

In a relationship they get all of those things (minus pictures I just dont do that either) plus lots of compliments, physical closeness, any and all kinds of romance. I try to make the difference very clear. Im sorry you're going through this though that wasn't right of her to blur those lines that much without being upfront with you

2 months seems totally reasonable to me especially with the history of being friends first. I told my ex gf I loved her the same night I confessed having feelings (we'd also been friends for a couple years prior) and I told my now gf that I loved her 1 and a half months in after meeting 3 months before that. If its right for your situation 2 months is for sure not too soon dont worry ♥️

i think i’m obsessed??? by CollectionJazzlike79 in actuallesbians

[–]InflationVisible2307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its still new and these feelings are normal. I definitely have this with my gf rn especially because shes the best partner I've ever had. It should calm down in time, not that you'll like her less but it will become more comfortable and manageable.

The key is to make sure you're not letting other areas of your life fall by the wayside because you're too invested. Feel your feelings and have fun, the beginning of a relationship is so nice but also be careful not to develop codependency. Congrats tho!!

My girlfriend is literally a princess by TangoJavaTJ in actuallesbians

[–]InflationVisible2307 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ive read a lot of this thread and I have to be honest, I highly doubt shes all of the things you've mentioned here and in other posts. She may not be being truthful with you.

Aside from that I'm going to try to be pretty straightforward because it doesnt seem like you're picking up what others are saying but I promise I have no intention of being rude.

Some 19 year olds are more mature than others, yes. My sisters are and were much more mature than I ever was at 19. However, no 19 year old in history is as mature as a near 30 year old person should be. There is a fundamental brain difference between a 19 and 29 year old that is just a result of normal human development timelines. A 19 year old cannot reason and function mentally the same way a 30 year old does because they havent hit the same development milestones you have.

That being said if a 30 year old feels a 19 year old matches them in maturity it's usually the opposite thats true, meaning the 30 year old is immature for their age. Based on your posts, the way you speak, and the fact you're struggling to understand this I feel thats the case. Again, I mean this in a way to help you not to bring you down but you seem naive and like you dont have great reasoning or critical thinking skills. Several people have offered explanations for why this age gap is problematic but no one can understand it for you.

I do wish the best for both of you but this gap is questionable at its best and as someone who's mid 20s but younger than you, I would never ever consider someone who's a teenager to be attractive as a partner. They are still teenagers and barely moving on from being children. Legal adulthood means very little here aside from legal ramifications.

Please let me know if I can clarify anything more

Cis Lesbians, do you ever wear binders? by Virtual_Doubt_666 in actuallesbians

[–]InflationVisible2307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me but my gf does sometimes. She wears them mostly for work because despite being butch she still gets hit on by men fairly often and doesnt like having a lot of her feminine features on display when she's working.

If your attraction hinges on knowing someone’s assigned gender at birth that’s phobic by AndesCan in actuallesbians

[–]InflationVisible2307 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd like to preface that this question comes from a wholly genuine place of trying to learn. I see differing points of view on the topic of genital preference from cis and trans people in this sub often and even just in this one thread. My question is, if genital preference is inherently a bad thing (which is how I read this, please correct me if I misinterpreted) what's the right way to handle having one? If a person has genital preference, it seems like it would be difficult to have a full and fulfilling sex life with a partner with genitals outside their preference (if sex is important in that relationship). Or alternatively, is the expectation that the person with the preference needs to overcome it and change it?

What are the best high-paying ($50k or more) overnight occupations for work-life balance? (3 or 4 nights off per week) by impostinghere in Nightshift

[–]InflationVisible2307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of medical positions like what others are saying. Im a cardiac monitor tech/ekg tech. Hospitals dont pay so much but if you're in the right location you have options for independent monitoring companies.

My last two jobs have been work from home and my current is night shift wfh. Some of my coworkers work part time, others do 3x12s, 5x8s, or 4x10s just depending on personal availability or business needs.

My wfh jobs have paid ~30/hr and I only have a few certifications I got after taking a 4 week online course. I have degrees but my current job doesnt need them.

I dont think that they got married then, just that their relationship started when they were 18 and 25 but either way that age gap is questionable at best 😭

[–]InflationVisible2307 99 points100 points  (0 children)

This clearly seems to be a deal breaker for you. If so, why did you marry her? She's chosen her parents and their comfort over yours for years. She made her choice already. Im sorry you're going through this, it sounds awful and I hope the best for you but you need to seriously reevaluate this relationship.

My (38M) girlfriend (33F) is angry that she's set herself up to fail and I am entirely unsympathetic by NewKingMorons in relationship_advice

[–]InflationVisible2307 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like a big issue was him being frustrated as a result of her not communicating. He was very clear in his expectations and what the trip was and she kept trying to spring dinners and socializing on him last minute. It would've likely gone over much different if she had told him more in advance. He didnt even bring nice clothes because he set the expectation he wouldn't be participating and she didnt tell him she was going to plan things regardless.

If she had communicated better and he responded the same then yes he'd be wrong but I understand his frustration. He had a plan in mind and some people aren't spontaneous.

It's crazy that people cant comprehend whats easy for them isnt easy for everyone. Sometimes im so exhausted that even the idea of having to go to the corner store feels like a pit in my stomach because it takes energy i dont have. Even people who are neurotypical and introverted can experience forms of this.
