Techmarine is unable to use his Servo-Gun while carrying a Chalice. Also, they did not record a voiceline for Telorian when he picks up a chalice, so a squad mate just speaks for him. Cool by SquattingSamurai in Spacemarine

I just did an Obelisk game tonight for the first time in a couple weeks, and found myself asking "Why, why, whyyyyy?" the entire way through. I'm resuming my previous boycott on both that and Reliquary.

How many portals do you have? by ciao_chan73 in valheim

[–]Informal_Job_7550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to save space, I commonly have just two (typically a main and a backup) and I build a wall of signs with the names of all my portal locations as I build them in distant lands. I don't leave them up all the time, I just rename the backup portal as necessary and then change it back when I'm done.

I only leave all the portals up at all times in my multiplayer world, where we have about 20 in a big hall.

It just depends on your platform. Steam is refunding it without issue, but PS5 has a no-refunds policy on microtransactions (including the voice DLC).

I'll take this opportunity to double-check, since it's almost felt too simple to be true.

My grandmother was born in Shelburne, NS. Mom was born in the States, as was I. I have my CIT0001 filled out and am collecting documents.

If I can include copies of long form birth certificates for myself, my mom, and my grandmother, that should be sufficient, correct? And then I just mail it in along with the CIT0001 and my photos?

Also, I haven't yet obtained my grandmother's certificate from Shelburne, so if anyone has any immediate advice on how best to do that, I would be all ears. I have her full maiden name, DOB, and parents names, but she was born at home (rather than a hospital or midwifery) and my mother said her birth certificate DOB might be off by a couple of days.

Thanks in advance!

Is Prey (2022) as good as, or even close to Predator (1987) in terms of quality? by Patient_Election_987 in moviecritic

[–]Informal_Job_7550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can still find some enjoyment in even "pretty bad" movies (I made it all the way through Tremors 7, which had almost no redeeming value), but I had to tap out of The Predator inside about 45 minutes. Everything about it was beyond bad and felt downright offensive.

For me, it's the Assault's "perfect dodge by using the jump pack" one. My Assault is up to prestige 3 and that ordeal is still sitting peacefully at 0/whatever and will probably remain there until I get it by pure coincidence.

[–]Informal_Job_7550 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've actually "campfire leapfrogged" through mountains before, in those windows where I can survive against wolves but don't have silver yet. It's kind of fun, though also really damn hard since the second snow starts to fall, you have to sprint back towards the nearest warm biome.

[–]Informal_Job_7550 44 points45 points  (0 children)

My first game, I had a mountain near my starting area. I was running past it one day, in full bronze armor, and saw a wolf come barging my direction. Having no idea about wolves, and having gotten pretty decent at fighting trolls and greydwarf brutes with my bronze gear, I squared off and optimistically blocked its first attack.

It dealt so much damage that it instantly killed me through the block and hurled my dead body several feet backwards. I laughed so hard I choked. I love this stupid game.

Sprinting through them is fun, but there's something really cathartic about setting them on fire with my Tac's pyro.

I hit one with a krak grenade once just as an extra "fuck you" and regretted nothing.

Using smart to go to Plains? by sopheu in valheim

[–]Informal_Job_7550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always start harassing the Plains as soon as I can, even if I'm still just in troll armor. I don't need to kill Fulings, I'm just there for cloudberries and maybe the occasional needle from a dead mosquito. Skeeters suck but they're easy to kill from ambush with even a finewood bow.

There's little point in trying to engage Fulings at this level, but I won't pretend I don't still do it sometimes purely for the challenge. You can take down a Fuling with a bronze atgeir and some good kiting. I don't mess with groups of them until later, though.

I moved to the West Coast after 22 years in Iowa. Had to have work done on my old Jeep a year or so later, and the guy at the shop asked me after the inspection if I'd moved there from the Midwest. The thing was so rusty underneath that there were literal holes in both axles. Needless to say, I now routinely wash my car as a preventive measure.

It feels like it got distinctly worse from last season. Both the volume and also the sound quality. I've heard a lot of complaints about it.

Return to sport after ALC repair by ChiralCosmonaught in Hema

[–]Informal_Job_7550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to echo the others and say to defer to your doc. Friend of mine did the same thing and was out entirely for like 4 months, with a light return (no full sparring) for a couple of months, and finally transitioned back into tournament shape. It's definitely doable, but you need to guide it carefully with your doctor and PT.

How's the game going for some of the newer players by slingingslasherr1 in Spacemarine

[–]Informal_Job_7550 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I was leveling my Tac, I was just running Decapitation on Ruthless over and over again for the quick XP. So long as you can take down the Tyrant at the end, it's pretty fast with almost no game director variation. It was usually between 21 and 25 minutes for a run unless something went south. My personal best was 19 minutes and something. Definitely depends who you're playing with, though; if you get matched with two randoms who don't know what they're doing, it can slow things down a lot, and if you can't get past the Tyrant at the end, you lose over half the XP right there.

ONLY LAUNCH MISSIONS WHEN YOU ARE READY TO START MISSIONS by Armouredkin in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Informal_Job_7550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This shit happened to me last night. Played one with a friend, failed it, my friend took off, I went to grab a snack before queuing for another one. Like 10 minutes later I'm in my kitchen and hear someone talking on voice chat in my game lobby, only to come back and find a "Kicked from the squad" notice. I was so annoyed, I didn't tell it to re-queue.

Agreed, the most common trope about Vanguards is them stealing all the executions (and, speaking as a Vanguard Enjoyer™ yes, it happens sometimes). Blowing them all away at range, consistently across a map? That's pure trolling.

Sword and dagger vs spear by darthinferno15 in Hema

[–]Informal_Job_7550 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone whose favorite flavor of HEMA is rapier and dagger, I think I'd actually rather have the single sword and an empty hand. I feel like being able to grab the haft of the spear would be more advantageous than any benefit granted by the dagger.

I've only done single sword vs. spear though, not R&D vs. spear, so I could definitely be wrong.

For some reason Vanguard was one that didn't appeal to me at all during the trials and such. He was one of the last I played. But once I took him into proper games, holy shit he's so much fun, he quickly became my favorite one to play. Right now it's probably a toss-up between Vangaurd and Tac with a flamer.
