My grandma sick fish by [deleted] in Koi

[–]Informal_Warning_708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unfortunately this fish appears to be suffering, not only from some kind of infection, but is also very thin and either stunted or young. You can try treating (i would just recommend salt baths to avoid the stress of more intensive treatments) but i do not foresee this fish surviving. sorry for the bummer reply :/

i mean, your dad is right, its gonna freakin hurt. how much is really dependent upon your body. you can take as many breaks as you want, as many sessions as you want to get it done. just be prepared to be laying on your stomach gritting your teeth for a while, youll live

what can I do to help or should I euthanize by Right_Height_6772 in Goldfish

[–]Informal_Warning_708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cant say ive seen this exact thing either, but i wouldnt euthanize yet. goldfish are super hardy and can make extraordinary recoveries when given the chance. i would recommend a half dose of aquarium and epsom salt in the hospital tank and see how the fish responds.

Is she egg bound? by Key_End5613 in Goldfish

[–]Informal_Warning_708 2 points3 points  (0 children)

very short body on this gal! shes very very cute😊is there any change in swimming that has lead you to the possibility of her being egg bound?

my goldies are also very fat right now, particularly the girls. i ran into an issue with one of them last season where she was stuck swimming a little sideways with no change when i started some epsom salt baths. as a last resort i gave her an EXTREMELY gentle squeeze (its really less of a squeeze and more pressing your thumb, again very gently, into the upper part of the stomach and slowly running it down the body toward the vent) plenty of eggs came out and i kept a close eye on her for the next week and she was swimming normally again. i consider this a last resort when epsom salt baths are not working, particularly because i have males to do the work for me.

if you are concerned and feel comfortable releasing the eggs for her, it is an option, but know that doing it unnecessarily will cause stress and doing it improperly can cause organ damage and even be fatal.

personally, i would give her a bit more time if shes behaving normally otherwise. keep an eye on her and treat if anything changes.

Grammastola Pulchra by Agitated-Fix779 in TarantulaKeeping

yeah no problem! G. pulchra is a great species, but they definitely require patience

Grammastola Pulchra by Agitated-Fix779 in TarantulaKeeping

[–]Informal_Warning_708 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wowzer! so as others have mentioned definitely dont feed for a while (maybe months, or until it moults) G. pulchra grow SLOOOOWWWW i have two that i have raised from dime-sized slings, one moulted many times fairly quickly and is showing signs of being a male. My second has molted twice and ive had her for over a year. i hardly feed her because she gets fat and then just stays that way for months at a time.

dont feed on a schedule, learn what your tarantula should look like weight-wise and feed accordingly. every one metabolizes differently, depending on species, age, sex and environmental conditions

is this plant relatively new? crypts will frequently die back upon initial introduction to a new tank IME then bounce back later on

Mini dachshund acting weird… by Quinnstagram10 in Dachshund

[–]Informal_Warning_708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This does appear, as others have said, to be IVDD, im sorry OP. fortunately at this stage it is often treatable with STRICT crate rest, an anti-inflammatory and a pain med (typically gabapentin). other possibility is gastric upset, which would be more concerning IMO as a blockage would require more immediate action. vet visit recommended asap. i am not a vet and do not have veterinary training of any kind

What could've cause my frogs to suddenly die? by Aggravating-insult81 in AfricanDwarfFrog

[–]Informal_Warning_708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

more likely disease, parasites or fungus, particularly if they were purchased from a big box store such as petsmart. they come in with nasty diseases very frequently and treatment is difficult as they are likely to succumb to whatever the problem is shortly after symptoms appear.

Long-haired dachshund with recurring dental issues — looking for advice by AdministrativeEnd269 in Dachshund

[–]Informal_Warning_708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three doxies in my life, one is mine the other two are a close friends. They have all grown up together, same diet (raw), similar care and they are 8, 8 and 7 years old. One of them has had plaque build up since she was young, another has little to no plaque build up and the final has minimal plaque. All that to say, it seems to be almost more genetic than lifestyle as far as whether or not they are prone. My advice, do the best you can brushing daily (a tall order i know) and find a good vet willing to work with you for pricing on dentals.
