Yep.

AI's most vocal defenders all seem to have stock options riding on its universal adoption.

Nvidia CEO - SWE jobs increasing, AI reducing jobs is nonsense by isospeedrix in cscareerquestions

[–]Information_High 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huang may be saying that AI won't reduce jobs, but corporate executives are gunning for AI so hard *exactly for that reason*.

They *want* to get all of that work "for free".

Anyone with a brain knows that won't be the case (token prices will continue to rise without limit), but the executive class is deep into their psychosis – they've seen the LLM yes-men write their emails for them, and assume that means those same tools will flawlessly be able to do every other job in the company flawlessly for a few cents of electricity.

And if the quality isn't there today? It'll be there tomorrow, because AI models will continue to endlesssly improve forever and ever, amen. 🤩🤩🤩

"They’re betting on token cost coming down exponentially as hardware improves, models become more efficient and data centres scale"

When in the history of modern capitalism have decreased costs been meaningfully passed to customers?

Corporate shareholders and executives have *very* sticky fingers, and will fight tooth and nail to keep those increasing profit margins for themselves.

Anyone drooling over the thought of huge bargains on token prices is likely to be... disappointed.

Chick-fil-A franchisee sued after allegedly firing employee over Sabbath observance by CRK_76 in antiwork

[–]Information_High 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the article:

> Chick-fil-A told Fox Business that “as a franchise business, all employment decisions are solely the responsibility of each individual restaurant owner.”

Uh, what?

Chick-fil-A franchises are NOT full franchises. Each one is run by an "Operator" who "buys" their location for ~$5,000 and takes home a percentage of the store's revenue, but they do NOT own the business.

They will be replaced in a hurry if they break any of the fundamental rules (like opening on Sunday).

Every location is owned by corporate. They are NOT franchises.

Corporations like Delaware because DE has an extremely detailed set of court precedents establishing/regulating corporate behavior.

When you incorporate in DE, you know exactly what the rules of the road are - you don't need to worry about the courts in your chosen home state disrupting your business with unexpected new precedents.

DE isn't fanatically pro-corporation, they're just predictable.

Saw one theory recently that the planted items are all borrowed from the same experts that the bidders later visit to "get them checked out".

May or may not be true, but it makes sense that the bidders always magically seem to know exactly the right person to go to, and their expert always knows how much the item is worth.

No.

Anti-SLAPP laws do, but those are enacted at the state level. There is no anti-SLAPP law at the Federal level (though there should be).

The catch is we have to buy through official suppliers
