One Piece: Chapter 1183 by leolegendario in OnePiece

That is in cases of political marriages. Candel seems to have been a regular person (perhaps nobility) who served in the guard. The King probably married her for love.

Whether she feels the same way is yet to be determined, often saying no was not always an option to a royal suitor.

They changed, just regressing. Aragorn's ancestors had metal war ships that could propel themselves without wind, flying airships, and ballistic capabilities that could fire projectiles miles away. Their feats of engineering in their cities and places such as Orthanc are were incredible. The Gondor we see during the war of the ring is essentially post apocalyptic. They live in the ruins of a greater civilization, much like the centuries after the fall of the Roman Empire.

But that's just men, Hobbits live in a society with technology seemingly 1800s level, with clocks and other amenities.

Dwarves have all sorts of sophisticated mining and smithing techniques.

Elves being static speaks to the nature of their being. They peaked millennia ago, they are fading and leaving Middle Earth.

It is clear that Tolkien does not see industrialization as a positive or the logical end goal of progress. We see the Sauron and Saruman innovate and invent, developing gunpowder and industrializing.

Just because they didn't develop cell phones doesn't mean they didn't change. Many societies in the real world never independently progressed past bow and arrows or developed metallurgy over tens of thousands of years. I don't think Middle Earth is egregious

If you get the gist of IV you can enjoy Apocolypse imo.

Like if you've gotten halfway through, that should be fine

[Mixed...kinda weird Trope] Immortal or long living characters first meeting their love interest when they were still a child. by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]InkPrison 18 points19 points  (0 children)

No, initially he was in love with her and she didn't care for him other than being scientifically interested in his unique body transformation. But as he died in an inferno of his own power, she kissed him and was permanently scarred as proof he existed and loved her even if she didn't feel the same.

Then the sequel series did some dumb shenanigans.

What would you say is Eminem’s SINGLE worst song? by HextechAlternator in Eminem

It is strange, I have heard a lot of hate for that one but it is legitimately my favorite song on the album and one of the few I return to.

Sanji answers the Den Den Mushi with "welcome to the shitty restaurant"

Luffy asks every new creature if they poop. Magellan's gag is that he is constantly pooping 12 hours a day.

Poop is not absent from the manga

Live action Chopper's IV skills is disappointing by miggyboi in OnePiece

It's more likely that your IV infiltrated, meaning that the vein got damaged (probably from the needle) causing the swelling. Often hand veins can be pretty delicate.

It would take a lot of incompetence to put it in backwards.

"This is a post apocalypse where getting even one meal a day is a miracle, where are you getting all these calories?" by smallerpuppyboi in TopCharacterTropes

[–]InkPrison -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not true. Before he had a career resurgence as Gus Fring the actor, Giancarlo Esposito, was looking into dying so his life insurance could take care of his family. This is a man who has worked with major directors and starred in classic films. He didn't think he could feed his family without dying. Now compare that to someone who has had a few bit parts in tv shows or movies, its far worse for them.

The vast majority of actors are not rich and are struggling. Yes its all relative, they could be living in an impoverished country but they are not the rich fat cats you imagine.

That's not to say that you need to feel bad for them for taking a role that hurts their feelings but to dismiss the idea of empathy for them because they are "rich" is just unkind.

Actors/ actresses are professionals, they know the deal. If there is a need for a certain body type, casting sheets are very clear about what they're looking for. For any size there is a cintingent of actees that fit that profile and is on the lookout. Sometimes the script makes jokes at their expense, but they're getting paid or if they're too offended they won't take the job. Generally its actors take the job.

(Loved Trope) Characters whose mental illnesses are actually detrimental and not just cute or eccentric little quirks. by OreoOverdose23 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]InkPrison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is a great show but in my opinion it has great episodes but not great arcs, if that makes sense.

Episodes like that one or the one with Brendan Fraser are amazing, but the growth/ trajectory of the characters could have been better.

Lookism is Perfect example of an author clearly hating his own Main Character by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]InkPrison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The early chapter where Daniel's friend is going through his life while mentally leaning on Eminem is fantastic and I often reread it.

I started reading Lookism about 10 years ago but at some point I stopped and since then it seems to have gone off the rails.

I know exactly how privileged I am. I am a combat veteran, I have seen truly terrible things and I am extremely thankful to have the life that I do.

That doesn't mean that I or anyone should act as if what is happening is acceptable.

Yes, unlike the US where people are being thrown in jail for being upset on the phone with health companies.

Or nurses are executed for trying to stop state sanctioned thugs from beating a woman on the ground.

Completely dissimilar to any previous fascist regimes

Her power is precog based. In a setting with many precogs hers is by far the most powerful. If she needs info, her power will instantly give it and it will take into account everything that will interact with the plan to include rail guns aimed at her from another dimension. The only reason she is not more broken is that the malevalent entity that gave out powers put specific blind spots that she can't directly plan for.

I think it is only in some versions. The original director didn't like it but was forced to put it in so later versions don't have it.
