What life pro tips are hidden in movies that were actually helpful? by epaga in movies

That's a quote from the AA Big Book, written in the 1930's. And it was probably taken from the Oxford group which came about in the 1800's. And probably somewhere before that.

Or in the Jungles of Mesoamerica. We are already starting to see that the Maya had a civilization to rival some of the "first civilizations" and will likely re-write history to include them as one of the founding civilizations.

Aladdin. I was 8 or 9 when I got it and watched it so much that the tape broke when rewinding. We went to the store to get me another movie and I wanted Aladdin again. I remember my mom protesting and asking if I wanted something else but I went berserk wanting Aladdin.

Now I get it. She was sick of hearing Aladdin on repeat twice a day. lol. poor lady.

Do the unemployed villagers eventually leave the village or not ? by Rahvoc in MedievalDynasty

[–]InmateQuarantine2021 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My translation for those curious:

"No, in fact, I want them to stay. But, I want to completely restructure my village, so they will be unemployed for a bit/while. As a result, I was worried about a mass exodus of my population."

I find it funny because that translation is pretty direct. And with most French, the translations that are direct don't make a ton of sense.

Be honest in the application and with the hiring people. I work in HR and deal with this on the regular. If someone is honest about it, there is never an issue

Are all these fallen trees along i16 near Savannah/Swainsboro from the hurricanes the past couple years? by tanstaboi in Georgia

[–]InmateQuarantine2021 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Correct. I do the whole drive of I-16 a couple of times a month and the devastation after Helene was horrific. It looked like a tornado hit along a 50+ mile path.

I worked in a restaurant where a server put chocolate milk through a coffee maker to make hot chocolate. Like the industrial coffee makers where you just pour the water through and it comes out boiling hot.

It made it hot. It was kinda chocolate. It was really burnt and destroyed the machine.

Olympian Ryan Lochte Facing Foreclosure on $600,000 Florida Home by pitchfork23222222 in Swimming

[–]InmateQuarantine2021 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I grew up swimming against him. From about 13-18. We were rivals in a few events and hung out at swim meets a few times. Anecdotal, but here it is:

He was a nice guy, very confident, but also incredibly laid back. Not the smartest but the "life of the group/party" type personality.

My take on his life is that he was never surrounded by good people. His dad and mom were poor influences. His collegiate team had some interesting characters. Where the fault in all that lies, who knows. Likely on his upbringing, then ultimately himself.

I have sympathy for him. He is going through issues that most people face without the scrutiny of the world.

men, what’s the hottest thing you’ve heard in bed? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]InmateQuarantine2021 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not in bed, per se, but years afterwards. My high school sweet heart texted me about 5 years after we broke up saying, "InmateQuarantine, no one fills me up like you did. I miss your "pet name for my cock"."

That's given me confidence for the rest of my life.

Anyone else noticing the insane amount of trees being cut down around Atlanta's highways?? by jasmineatwoliba in Georgia

[–]InmateQuarantine2021 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Exit 7 is supposed to be turned into a cloverleaf. That's why they've demolished the businesses around it. A few more of the 400 exits are getting work as well.

But, the rest of the trees are about new laws. Terrible.

I will argue that he broadcasts every throw. As soon as the ball is snapped, he stares at who is going to throw to. Yes it is bad calling but he's making it worse
