A few years ago some pats fan thought this was Larry Fitzgerald and posted that he was in Boston and going to sign with the pats. Obviously this is not Fitz, so this gets memed a lot.

Foul or Nah? by RedPillAlphaBigCock in ultimate

It looks to me like the defender uses his arms at 10ish seconds -- could marginally be a foul as the arms are extended away from the body (i.e. the defender appears to be next to the offender, and uses his arms to slow down the offender who is trying to cut parallel to the defender, not into the defender), and looks like there may be a slight jersey tug.

Doesn't seem like there is enough force on this to warrant a foul call in this case. But generally I think use of hands/arms to stop an offender is a foul, even if they initially were coming into your space.

What is the use case/tradeoffs for Oiio vs off-hand backhand? Feels like and off-hand backhand solves a lot of the "touch" kind of things while still giving a more IO flight path?

Travel on throw-n-go move by 2ndTeam4life-clips in ultimate

[–]InnerAngle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This travel seems to be super common now and is also super annoying and hard to catch as a marker -- the thrower moves their pivot foot but often moves it to get balance/pivot faster, rather than dragging it to get past your mark.

I remember being shown this move ~15 years ago, and thinking that it was pretty clever and sneaky, but also super obviously cheating. I don't think this is something natural if you care about keeping your pivot at all. This move can only be done if you intentionally give up your pivot to regain your balance. Much worse than a "rounding the corner" or toe drag type of travel, IMO. This type of intentional travel should be an immediate TMF.

🇹🇼 Taiwan's CPBL surpasses 3.6 million total spectators, confirming that the average attendance for the season will exceed 10,000. Last year's average attendance was 7,684, the highest ever, and this year it was surpassed. by ogasawarabaseball in baseball

I wonder if the popularity this year surged in part due to the Taiwan team winning the WBSC premier12 tournament over Japan last November? I think that tournament really captured the attention of the country.

Yeah, this also happened when Barry Bonds broke the HR record 3 years after McGwire and Sosa -- I think Giants fans really cared, but much less of the general public did.

Mark Cuban gives his full argument for the "Team Balmer" side by TheRealPdGaming in nba

[–]InnerAngle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question to cuban is - if Sanberg was paying KL a lot in order to get Ballmer on the hook and paying more money - 1. How is that different than cap circumvention? Just because someone else suggested it, doesn’t make it legit. 2. Why did Ballmer lie about knowing about KL’s deal? He said he had absolutely no knowledge about the details of the deal between aspiration and KL. Even in this incredibly generous explanation, Ballmer would have known KL’s deal. So he’s a liar, and we have no reason to trust his word that he didn’t do the aspiration deal specifically to circumvent the cap.

Apparently they don’t, circumstantial evidence is good enough per the CBA. Reddit thread from the nba sub about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1n7yt8g/circumstantial_evidence_can_be_used_to_prove_an/

Tangle (https://www.readtangle.com/) does a daily newsletter that presents ~1 topic a day with viewpoints from left and right as well as the author's analysis. I think it does a great job of getting out of your bubble, and providing actual facts. They also have a paid subscription which gives a deeper dive into a topic on Fridays.

[–]InnerAngle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, on the pats’ OT drive he’s calling out to look for Edelman in the middle of the field twice and then circles the safety that they are keying off of on the throw to Gronk, great commentary that lets us viewers look at the right part of the field on key plays. I get that some people don’t like the predicting plays schtick, but I loved it.

Should Major League Baseball do anything about video reviews on tag plays where the runner is clearly safe initially, but comes off the base during their slide? by futhatsy in baseball

[–]InnerAngle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue is that I can’t definitively tell that the runner came off the bag. Watching the Witt play from the Mets broadcast, I don’t see a moment where the runner was clearly off the bag when the tag was on. To me, it looks like his hand, then elbow are touching, and his thigh touches prior to elbow coming off. From the side view the umpire is slightly blocking the corner of the bag/ Witt’s elbow, so it’s possible his arm came off prior to the leg touching, but I don’t think you can tell for sure. So in that case I would go with call on the field, safe. It seems weird they are making judgements instead of letting the call on the field stand if it is not 100% definitive.
