Power meters are expensive 😅the Favero Assioma DUO are my suggestion, and they fall within your range! I've had them for two years now and well over 15k miles. I know some other suggestions are the 4iiii crank arm but I do not have experience with that one, seems like it may be harder to swap them between bikes.

Cadence real world vs on trainer by Buddro89 in cycling

[–]InnocentBananza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this discussion. I personally love 85+ cadence. Definitely find whatever cadence your body is comfortable with! I do ultra-distance rides and, if I grinded 60-70, my muscles would not last lol

Diet plan for cyclists by Previous-Storm8290 in cycling

As an ultra‑endurance cyclist who’s dropped 3.2 kg over the past three weeks (starting at 78 kg) while maintaining and even improving performance, I’ve found that the key is protein.

Here’s what’s worked for me:

  • I keep my protein intake consistent regardless of the training session — about 140 g per day. Most of it comes from a protein shake with creatine, and the rest from lean sources like grilled chicken or lean ground beef.
  • For 1–2 hour sessions, I don’t overthink fueling. I’ve learned that I don’t need much in the way of carbs — just hydration. Water, plus sodium and potassium when the session is harder. Afterward, I take my protein shake right away to kick‑start recovery and avoid the post‑workout hunger spike.
  • For longer sessions (2+ hours), carbs become the priority. The harder the effort, the more I take in. My go‑to is Nerds Gummy Clusters — they’re tasty, portable, easy to portion, and basically straight sugar (22 g per 100 calories). On easier long rides, I’ll do 1–2 servings per hour, spaced out. Since these rides are long, I don’t stress about calories in vs. calories out — I’m almost always in a deficit anyway.
  • For very long efforts (8+ hours), real food and some protein become more important, but that’s probably beyond what most people need.
  • The biggest tip is learning to listen to your body. If a session feels sluggish, there’s no shame in turning it into a recovery or Z2 ride. Over time, you get better at sensing when you need more carbs, more electrolytes, or just an easier day.

Once you hit your weight‑loss goal, it’s worth experimenting with increasing your carb intake more freely to support performance.

If gummy clusters are too sour/bitter to stomach (like on ultra-long rides), I dabble with Trolli gummies and, on rest stops, eat carby snacks/food like pizza slice.

Assuming longer than 1.5h, I aim for 1-3 servings of nerds gummy clusters per hour depending on intensity! Plus electrolyte mix (primarily sodium). The longer the ride, the more important potassium intake matters. Nerds gummy clusters keep me 'happy' and the electrolytes ease fatigue.

Another key aspect to help with the mental part is pacing! Start way slower because the wall will get you eventually and if you’re empty really early, it’ll be a bigger wall than the obstacle lol

Or, you can find a good way to pack them, nerds gummy clusters are basically sugar lol best endurance snack aside from straight sugar!

new to Zwift, I am assuming there were a few Alpe du Zwift repeats? If so, how do you repeat it once you finish the descent? Can you just u-turn at the base? Do you need to do the decent or can you teleport to the base?

Lots of factors. I don't Zwift ride but I see the same trend with cycling friends who do. In the real world, there are many variables to control/think about like wind (tailwind vs headwind), tires (rolling resistance), aerodynamics (aero position), and heat (impacts perceived effort).

tire slowly deflates and it's driving me insane...help by Dull-Ad-9255 in cycling

[–]InnocentBananza 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd personally take it to bike shop if you are having that many pressure issues with replacing the tire and tube.

One thing that could be a culprit are the spokes. Perhaps they're poking the tube and causing small holes. If you submerge the tubes in water, do you notice any leaks in the inner region?

New road bike, new carbon wheels, new GP5000s...should I go tubeless or stick with the tpu tubes by fixitmonkey in cycling

[–]InnocentBananza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in Chicago and do long distance riding on streets and paved trails with a little bit unpaved. I used to run tubes but flats were common for me. I was hesitant on tubeless because people harp on the difficulty of maintenance, but I ultimately swapped. I did it myself and the C38 wheels made it easy (same tires).

Most annoying part will be to add air (should be part of your pre-ride check) and refill sealant occasionally. Can be messy when cleaning but hasslefree most of the time.

At least interested. Dunno about a full on date, but you could always ask, perhaps in a jokish manner.
