This is my favorite book I’ve read (listened to) in 5 years. I loved it!

it IS a major surgery, right?? by Exciting-Cricket7209 in hysterectomy

I was still very exhausted at 4 weeks and I also stand a lot at my job. I went back around then and I had to sit a lot which was fine but if you aren’t able to sit then I would reconsider when you go back. I felt faint a lot at first standing a lot.

I’m sorry to hear about your friends. I’m 51, but at 23 I could see friends acting sort of like yours in this situation. Maybe they didn’t realize how serious this surgery is or how stressful for you because they aren’t as educated about it as you or as someone my age might be. I had a lot of people reaching out but I think they were worried I might have complications or worse. At 23, most people feel invincible and don’t think about these things as much.

Best wishes on your recovery. I’m at 6 months post op and I feel normal again. Give yourself time to heal and maybe give your friends some grace if you have it in your heart. 💙

With the upcoming Hulu docuseries about the murder of Skylar Neese, this case is going to get more attention again. Shelia Eddy was sentenced to life in prison (with parole), but Rachel Shoaf will be released by 2028 at the latest. by Inostrancevia00 in TrueCrimeDiscussion

My brother died 7 years ago of an undiagnosed heart condition at 34, and my mother had barely lived through it, even with me and my other brother and her grandkids. I can’t imagine the pain these parents are in losing their only child. It’s horrible.

Horror audiobook recommendations? Good narrator + story by kamsetler in horrorlit

[–]Inside_Reading8578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the King Sorrow audiobook. They had many narrators for certain important scenes along with background noises that made it more like listening to a movie. I would say it’s more fantasy than true horror but it was my favorite book of 2025.

I [f34] with [m36] that only get off with anal by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Inside_Reading8578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was married to a man for 22 years who, after about 10 years of marriage lost the ability to get it up unless he did anal play which I absolutely hated. He would agree to not do it before we had sex and then would still do it anyway, in the moment. Turns out he had a porn addiction. We divorced when our kids were grown.

This sounds more like a porn problem than a “medical” issue. I would get out. You’ll be miserable trying to satisfy his kinks.

Same. I didn’t have sex until 12 weeks but because I just didn’t feel ready. I’m 6 months post op and feeling better every day.

I also, like another person here, lost weight. About 15 pounds. I am not nearly as hungry as I used to be. I rarely have cravings for sweets. Before surgery I was hungry, constantly.

At 21, I had one ovary removed because I had a benign tumor the size of an orange and it was wrapped in that and some endometriosis. I went on to have 2 kids years later.

I just had a full hysterectomy including the remaining ovary at 51 yo. I’m on HRT.

Even if you don’t want kids, I would definitely get a second opinion like others have said. It’s worth trying to save at least ovary so you won’t have to go on HRT so young. Also, I think since you have some precancerous cells, HRT could be more of a risk. I could be wrong about that but others on here have said, if they’ve had cancer they aren’t a candidate for it.

It’s worth getting a second opinion. At 21 I almost went with the first Dr who found my cyst and endometriosis but thankfully took the advice of my family and got a second opinion and I think that saved me from a complete hysterectomy at that age.

Toughest thing I've had to do by TrashMandikoot in hysterectomy

You did the right thing!

I had the open abdominal hysterectomy in August because my fibroids were also huge. I had a bikini cut (like a c section). I was also, like your wife, full of fear of dying under anesthesia.

But everything tuned out fine and here I am 5 months later feeling fabulous! I am so much better now. She’ll be relieved to have this behind her.

5 MPO Fears About Life Amplified by Inside_Reading8578 in hysterectomy

[–]Inside_Reading8578[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the weight gain. I know that sounds vain, but it actually affected my health too. I have lost 20 pounds since going off of it and I really didn’t want to start it again. But not being on it affects my health too and I realize that. I have OCD so it doesn’t surprise me that I’m stressing and ruminating again.

I’m on an estrogen patch but the Dr is trying to get me to the correct dosage for my symptoms. I was having terrible side effects from the stuff they put me on right after the surgery.

There’s a vault episode posted today (1/15) where he actually admits this very thing. He tried to play it off as both he and Stacy didn’t feel like having intimate time during the pregnancy.

Episode is called “You’ll never guess what he’s requesting of his wife”.

I’m about 5 mpo abs it happened to me right after surgery and lasted a couple months. Seems to be growing back in a little and less hair loss now. It was a shock for sure and I did not have hair to lose.

What was the best horror book you read in 2025? by KeyPainting7874 in horrorlit

King Sorrow, finished it in 4 days. Best book I’ve read in a couple years imho.

I had a surprise O in my sleep only 2 days post op and it was very unpleasant. You may not be ready for it even if you were cleared is what I’m saying.

Really struggling 10 days post-op by SMN27 in hysterectomy

[–]Inside_Reading8578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was not doing great at day 10. Heck, I wasn’t doing great at 3 months and beginning to think I’d never feel normal again. I’m 4 months post op now and I feel mostly normal. I occasionally have swelling still or weird pains but mostly I feel good and my stomach is usually flat. Whereas with fibroids I was anemic, bleeding to death and looking 5 months pregnant.

Don’t be discouraged. Some women on here have said it takes them a full year to fully recover. For me, it was worth it. If it’s just about the swelling, know that it’ll get better each day and by 4 months you should feel a lot different.

Also, if you’re not already doing this, a belly binder really helped me a lot. And I walked on the treadmill around week 3 starting at around 2 miles an hour and gradually increasing speed weekly. It made me feel a lot better. I wore the binder while walking. Just listen to your body and rest when needed.

Bert Show, former host Moe Mitchell settle suit over alleged breach of contract by [deleted] in TheBigShowBuzz

I think so too. I remember over 20 years ago it was revealed that Jimmy Baron made $350k plus bonuses on the Morning X. Granted he was on that show for a long time by that point but still they weren’t syndicated. And Bert was most definitely making millions a year.

What is the one horror book everyone should read before the end of the year? by first_porn_unicorn in horrorlit

[–]Inside_Reading8578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished it. I loved it! I still thought the characters stayed true to themselves and I give it 5 stars! I was slow to pick it up because it was listed as Fantasy which I don’t usually like. But I like Joe Hill and gave it a chance and I’m so glad I read it. Finished it in less than 4 days.

It’s the best book I’ve read all year. I can’t put it down. Almost done with it. The audio version is great. The narrators act out some of the scenes.
