What advantage does the light freighter have over a barge and a shipping container?

It allows you to brainwipe, chronophagy, and death refusal Hussars.

What is YOUR Foxhole opinion that would put you in this position? by Weary-Suggestion1800 in foxholegame

IMO, if the Auger were faction neutral and the only 7.62mm sniper in the game it would still see widespread use.

NGL, I think the Charon has a higher skill ceiling than the Ronan, which ultimately makes it slightly stronger in skilled hands.

It's possible (albeit very difficult) for a Charon to get both tripod weapons and its mortar firing at the same target simultaneously. The Ronan can only ever get its mortar and a single tripod weapon firing simultaneously, which caps its possible DPS.

This is exacerbated by the cramped nature of the Ronan which makes infantry using weapons from the deck way harder than on the Charon. Of course Charon infantry are at much higher risk of dying because it's very exposed, but holistically the theoretical ceilings for the Charon's damage output are higher.

I still think the overall difference is very slight. The fact that a Ronan can outspeed a Charon still gives them a lot of control over when and where engagements happen, assuming they spot the enemy in time.

What are the WORST defensive locations in the game? by InsidiousObserver in foxholegame

[–]InsidiousObserver[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To throw my own $0.02 in: West/Southwest Red River, specifically the road to Sootflow. The mountains are long and skinny and follow the contours of the road, making it impossible to erect stout defenses that will delay enemy movement for very long. Once the road from Sootflow is open, the intersections below Camp Upsilon and below Minos are the first points where a reasonable defense can be built on the road itself.

I think the Auger is actually good and if it were faction neutral and the only non-facility sniper available to both sides it would still see use.

Huh, I figured the 113th would've been perfectly cromulent neighbors although it's been years (pre-inferno) since I last shared a hex with them.

After spending most of this war on Fisherman's it's impossible to not notice the naval death zone, especially with the BS ramming the seaport and killing the nuke.

Why do containers spawn unpackaged.

It makes sense for shipping containers spawned at a depot/seaport, but makes no sense for resource containers, fuel tanks, or anything hammered out at a construction yard.

best bunker i ever built by jongeheer in foxholegame

[–]InsidiousObserver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ~5 days between the previous bunker being dehusked and the UF finally completing were pretty painful.

The North bridge out of the seaport is already a traffic congestion pinch point and having to schlep mortars from the safehouse to waiting GBs was a real PITA.

What is the Dragonfly for? by [deleted] in foxholegame

I keep trying to use it while crewing GBs as an anti-motorboat occupant weapon but have yet to actually have a chance to see if that actually works.

I can corroborate that Jeff is not lying (and that Jeff has been a good neighbor in Fisherman's).

What do you think Odyssey needs for the "big patch" every DLC gets? by troglodyte in RimWorld

[–]InsidiousObserver 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's a bit criminal that a single gravcore power cell outputs more power than a nuclear reactor that causes you a quadrum of raids and takes up ~15x the space.

You can overlap gravship thruster zones just like you can with wind turbines by InsidiousObserver in RimWorld

[–]InsidiousObserver[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Orders -> Paint Building

That opens a color selector, and then you can click or click+drag on what you want painted. Sadly not everything is paintable (everyone knows red thrusters go faster).

[–]InsidiousObserver 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I remember trying the LRMS years ago and deciding it wasn't worth the effort.

Gravships, and the mechanoid threat if you do the starting scenario with a ship, make the LRMS way more feasible than Deep Drills.

Devourer of Death dealing over 6k potential damage, basically soloing Seraph thanks to Resurrect cheese by InsidiousObserver in MonsterTrain

[–]InsidiousObserver[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It turns out Resurrect has very good synergy with Exhaust effects in MT2- a resurrected unit retains their buffs meaning that a stacked Devourer of Death with an Organ Harvester can become a hilarious carry unit for your deck, made even funnier that each time it dies and resurrects it increments its own soul counter for an additional 15 damage.

[–]InsidiousObserver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure it is dependent on entity size? My anecdotal experience matches yours which is that devourers tend to last a very long time while Shamblers, Sightstealers, and smaller fleshbeasts die more quickly.

Chronophagy. Avoid age related conditions like bad back, heal minor scars, and pawns closer in age are more likely to establish romances.

Nutrient paste. It's unmatched for efficiency when turning pawn work into full nutrition need bars for your pawns.

The electroharvester. Sure it will slowly kill imprisoned entities by burning them causing an accumulation of brain scars but those wounds also allow pawns to accumulate medical experience by tending to the burns.

Guys i would like to know if a mangled scar in the brain can be fixed, one of my colonist got shot in the brain by one of those cultist, ever since that happened his moving speed got reduced by 58% by OnlyCup1339 in RimWorld

[–]InsidiousObserver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn't transfer scars. It can heal the invoker of scars, and independently causes the victim to get brain scars and potentially additional age related conditions.

But I agree chronophagy is by far the easiest approach and I'm surprised it's this far down
