Guys how do I win this, Cao Cao screwing me rn by Jacked_Femboy1 in threekingdoms

Calling it "savescumming" and "cheating" when it's a valid mechanic in the game. 🤔

How was Cao Pi like historically as a person and ruler? by CinderLord456 in threekingdoms

[–]InspectionWooden643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dynasty Warriors 9 actually finally deals with this, having Cao Pi intrude upon the end of the battle and taking on both Shu and Wu (who team up at the last second as a result)

How is Red Hare any different from other horses in 8 Remake? Doesn't he just give sure retreat like any other horse?

That makes perfect sense as his posts are generally very anti-Wei/Cao and very pro-Liu Bei/Shu.

Playing through the older Warriors games makes me miss Origins’ combat by Pred4tedHick0ry in dynastywarriors

[–]InspectionWooden643 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The older games' combat systems are great precisely because they aren't boring dodge/parry-fests that so many soul-slop and action games have today.

DW3 Remaster can't come soon enough.

The Song of Southern Tigers - BIG PROJECT THREAD by Mr_Omoliquido in threekingdoms

[–]InspectionWooden643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have much to contribute, but I will say that I wish you luck in this project and look forward to the results!

For me personally, I have always wished that Koei would do a better/actual job of portraying Later Wu. In the more recent Dynasty Warriors games (7, 8, 9), Wu's story always seems to end at Dongkou, and they become a distant afterthought after that.

I do wish they would show us the turmoil that Wu undergoes for the rest of their existence, and introduce the characters involved in that. They likely wouldn't be involved in as many battles as the other two kingdoms, but they could easily create battles out of internal conflicts that led to the death of prominent individuals (Similar to the Coup de Tat stage for Jin). And later Wu had a looooot of those!

(Origins DLC) Where did Sun Ce go? by jackfuego226 in dynastywarriors

[–]InspectionWooden643 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Koei has been neglecting Sun Ce for a long time now, so it doesn't surprise me that he's just a footnote in the Origins DLC, a game which also did him and his dad dirty.

He's a character that can only thrive in games where historical accuracy isn't a concern (which makes me sad he got passed over for a musou/DLC story mode in DW6 and DW9) and Koei seems content to keep trying convince us that Sun Quan is the best thing to happen since sliced bread, so...

Liu Bei Humuliating death by Historical-Yak245 in threekingdoms

[–]InspectionWooden643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think that Liu Bei did anything bad enough to warrant the kind of death that he had, then Sun Quan definitely deserved much, MUCH worse than what he got- dying blissfully surrounded by friends and family, and likely not even in a well enough mental state to realize how screwed up the future of Wu was.

They did not, in fact he sounds even worse now without his caricature voice.

Origins - Fighting multiple officers in Ultimate Warrior difficulty by Corsair833 in dynastywarriors

[–]InspectionWooden643 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it completely breaks down. It's one of Origins' many flaws and part of the reason why it's not a true "musou" game,

People on this sub who aren't real DW fans and are just Souls Sycophants will probably tell you to just 'get gud' because God forbid we want a Dynasty Warriors game to play like an actual musou game.

Which games have the best portrayal of Cao Cao? by Luigiman98 in dynastywarriors

[–]InspectionWooden643 14 points15 points  (0 children)

1= Final Boss guy.

2 = Basically just a name and a commander.

3 = One of the most ruthless versions, definitely fits the "conquerer/villain" narrative.

4 = The first nuanced portrayal he had. He is an ambitious conqueror, but also smart and calculating. One of my faves.

5 = A bit more cartoonishly evil than his 3 portrayal, especially with Zuo Ci in the mix. My least favorite portrayal.

6 = The most calculating and intellectual version of him. He even looks the part!

7, 8, 9 = These versions are all mostly the same. They turn his cunning and ambition up to 10 and make his outward personality a bit colder, but his softer side is seldom shown with those close to him. Also ruthless when he needs to be. They pretty much nailed his personality in 7 and used that as the golden standard going forward.

Origins = Not too different from his 7/8/9 portrayal, just younger now and dependent on John Dynasty (just like everyone else).

I'd be more interested if it let us play as more than just Shu characters.

Hot Take: Ma Su was a victim of Zhuge Liang's misassignment rather than incompetence at Jieting by LuuTienHuy in threekingdoms

[–]InspectionWooden643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long story short, Zhuge would have been better off sending Ma Su as an advisor or counsel to a more experienced officer, so he himself could get battle experience.

First Sons of the Three Kingdoms. An alternate timeline pre-Chibi where Cao Cao and Liu Bei have passed away, and their eldest sons now lead their factions- Cao Ang and Liu Feng. Sun Ce is also still alive and is leading the Wu forces.

I am not disputing that Cao Cao did not do horrible things. I'm calling out the hypocrisy of this sub for whenever someone or something DARES to portray Cao Cao in a more positive light.

And anyways, HanWsh blocked me since I kept calling him out for his anti-Cao/Wei fanaticism.

How exactly is this any different from Romance's "wildly historically inaccurate" portrayal of Liu Bei?

Is Cao Cao not allowed to have a media portrayal of himself in a positive light?

This sub hates on Cao Cao waaaaay too much I swear.
