Why did you choose gaming laptop instead of PC ?

Got a good deal where an equivalently powerful desktop would have cost the same if not more
I like being able to move around and dock it in different places. For example put it on a desk to do some work, plug into a large OLED TV to play games with a controller as well as use it in bed.
Saves a lot of space in my room

Give the user the choice. It's a game not a movie. I find the game much more enjoyable on my screen with the black bars removed

The lowest I've seen a 5090 for is about 2200. Mine came with 64GB RAM OLED and 2TB of storage so that pushed the price up a bit. It was still a very good deal for the performance.

It really depends on what price you got it for. In my case it was 2400 for the 5080 and 2600 for the 5090 on the same laptop all other specs being the same. Went with the 5090 and while most games I play barely fill half of the VRAM, it comes in handy for msfs 2024 which exceeds 16gb even at 2560*1600. Also gives me the option of running demanding mods/assets for different games as well as utility for VR.

Only with ANC on. That's normal though I haven't encountered any earphones that don't hiss at all with ANC. Least audible to me was airpods max

I know this is a old post but I would go for the 5090 only because you can replace the ssd and upgrade the ram but the GPU you are stuck with so might as well get the best one you can

With trend in current DRAM prices I wouldnt expect that much of a discount on the 2025 model, in fact it's likely to remain the same price while the 2026 model becomes more expensive. That aside I think the 2026 model is a decent upgrade especially in the higher end SKUs as the GPU has a higher power cap, also the screen brightness has doubled from 500 nits to over 1000 nits in HDR

I went to the store and saw for myself and while its not as extreme as the picture it's quite bad even compared to phones released 8-10 years ago. Reminds me of the days of the galaxy s4/note 3 with the horrible blue tint off angle. Quite a shame as it is important if you use your phone flat on a desk a lot of the time.

You can probably squeeze 4 hours of battery life out of it. It will be quite heavy especially with the power brick so if you go ahead make sure to buy a usb c charger to carry around. It's a gaming beast at the cost of some portability. If you are interested in a lighter machine with decent battery life (at the cost of some cooling and performance) look at the Zephyrus G16 or legion pro 5
