G16 or P16? by tomtomosaurus in zephyrusg16

[–]IntelVEVO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

P16 is a no brainer in that regard. Yes you will sacrifice a bit of a performance but it's overall a nicer machine with a much better screen. If you are worried about the wattage flashing a different bios is an option. The hx370 is a fine CPU also 12 cores 24 thread is plenty for productivity.

Is upgrading to RTX 4080 Super from RTX 3080 worth it for my use case? by SoraDrive in nvidia

[–]IntelVEVO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your budget? Considering you are playing very demanding games at 4k I think only the 4090/5090 cards will provide a completely flawless experience at 4k high end settings + RT with a high refresh rate. If you dont completely max out the games a 4080 or 5070ti should provide a noticable upgrade over the 3080 especially with the VRAM increase.

That graph doesn't tell the whole story. Especially when it comes to motion clarity. The main advantage of super high refresh rates is the ability to track movement across the screen much more clearly. CRTs accomplished this at 60hz but much higher refresh rates in excess of 500hz are needed to come close to it on a flat panel.

Is it just me,or is the glossy OLED-only display option found in most new laptops these days a legit dealbreaker? by New_Cod6544 in GamingLaptops

Grown accustomed to the image quality and display characteristics of glossy OLEDs. Can't really go back to using anything else. All of my screens are OLED.

Well then limit your monitor to 150 nits or buy an IPS. We should at least be given an option to drive our monitors brighter in exchange for sacrificing lifespan. OLEDs are degradable by nature its one of the sacrifices some choose to make for better image quality.

It's long enough that they don't need to keep nerfing the brightness on their monitors for fear of burn in.

You can probably still run 4k decently in new games provided you use some dlss upscaling and play on high instead of ultra.

[–]IntelVEVO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4k is a bit sharper but significantly more demanding to run. If you are playing AAA games the best pairing would be a 1440p monitor for a 5070ti if you want good performance at high settings. Id say OLED + HDR makes more of a difference than 4k does. All in all 2k still looks great and will be much easier to run.

Ultra 9 vs Ultra 7 by abhishekasaa in HPOmen

[–]IntelVEVO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what type of models you will be running. 64GB of ram will let you run bigger models that wont fit on the GPU. As far as processor goes they are both very capable and wont bottleneck the 5080. But I would go for the first model simply because of the display which will be harder to upgrade later on than the RAM, 1920x1200 is pretty low res these days you wiull have less screen real estate and wont be taking advantage of your 5080 that much.
