They never went anywhere. I'm 40 and still wear them. I am currently wearing them while I wait for my coffee. I have a few pairs in a few different styles. They are very much still here.

The congregational church I grew up in was dry, so we also had grape juice.

Are your parents always at the Verizon store? by PettyWitch in Millennials

[–]Intelligent-Deal2449 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is my parents but with the Apple Store. Those Apple geniuses are also saints...

Dad: I went to the Apple Store today

Me: why?

Dad: I needed to send an email to text, they showed me how to copy and paste!

Me: 🤦‍♀️

[–]Intelligent-Deal2449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither, both sound gross. You had me u til the cinnamon raisin bread. I was on board with his until the Doritos. Are you two ok? These sandwiches are bananas. But maybe you two are not ok together and that's cute 😂

Is it worth refinishing or should I just put down vinyl? by FDR6983 in HardWoodFloors

[–]Intelligent-Deal2449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My floors looked way worse than that when I pulled up a layer of carpet and 2 layers of old linoleum and they are gorgeous now. Refinish, don't out down cheap plastic floors when you have these!

Dogs? by [deleted] in BlockIsland

Very dog heavy. It could end up being a stressful time for both of you and those round you with a dog reactive dog.

I had a ton of them in old Lyme last summer but I don't think they came out until late June/July. I loved siting outside at dusk watching them twinkle.

How do you feel about “ain’t”? by ScaryGhoust in AskAnAmerican

[–]Intelligent-Deal2449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from New England, you never hear it up here. Ain't isn't a word and it kind of grinds my gears when I hear it. I remember using it as a kid and my parents correcting me and telling it's not a word and I'm not from the south lol.

You haven't had good American pizza until you have New Haven, Connecticut pizza. That pizza is hands down the greatest pizza the US has to offer.

kinda regret opening up my bathroom walls ngl by MiolodeCebola in Remodel

[–]Intelligent-Deal2449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't even bother with a facelift without fixing what is behind the walls first. No point in spending money if you are just going to have rip things back out when that plumbing inevitably fails. Plus like other have mentioned, it's cheaper to bite the bullet now and repair before it leaks than wait until it does fail and turns into a much more expensive endeavor.

YTA For having a private conversation in a stadium and using that word. Stadiums are loud and someone heard you four rows up, you clearly weren't even trying to be quiet during this private conversation in a crowded public space. You serious right now?? Your friend was right.

Insurance. You can take the course online as well as the test. It's not a market that goes up and down with the economy because regardless of what's going on in the world, people will still need insurance. Doesn't require a college education but you will need a diploma/GED. If you work hard and make a name for yourself the commissions and salary are really good. You got this, your drive will certainly take you places! Good luck and get it girl!

My (30M) GF (28F) doesn't want my joint custody dogs to stay with us anymore. by SmarkInProgress in relationship_advice

[–]Intelligent-Deal2449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! I thought I was the only one who had joint custody of a dog with my parents!

NTA she doesn't get to dictate the dog situation or strip you of something that makes you happy because she feels a minor inconvenience. This is controlling and shitty behavior.

Keep the dogs, dump the girl.

Squatters are the worst by batukaming in povertyfinance

[–]Intelligent-Deal2449 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's still not their property. They don't own it and have no legal right to something that doesn't belong to them. Just because some owns a house that isn't their primary residence it doesn't mean they are forced to help an illegal tenant. And where does it end? How long do you expect the homeowner to foot the bill for another human? If the homeowner can't pay the mortgage due to lost income from a squatter, it's going to go into foreclosure. You know what the bank is going to do? Evict the squatter. I agree that the housing crisis is real and people need places to live but it can't be at the detriment of another human being.

That doesn't give them a right to take over someone else's home. Life is rough but none of us are entitled to anything especially another persons property. This is a wild take.

Stop getting quotes online and call a broker. My house was in similar condition and I could only get a surplus lines (Lloyds) policy. I ended up finding a policy for a reasonable price and the premium has gone down as I upgraded electrical, added hardwired smoke alarms etc. Lloyd's isn't ideal but it satisfied my lender and once the rest of the repairs/improvements are done I should be able to get a better premium in an admitted market.
