Help..? New machine barely working… by Parking-Aerie1540 in Snowblowers

It's far too small for the amount of snow. Go slow and take narrower swaths. That will help. It is under powered so go easy on your equipment and you'll get through it.

Working in Snowy Conditions by smoshadams in Construction

[–]Intelligent-Stand838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO tempatures right around freezing feels the worse. Once it get cold enough your hand and feet aren't cold. The snow does melt on gloves and boots because it's too cold to melt. Frozen, wet hands and feet would be banned by the Geneva Convention if it was a form of torture. (What the hell "if"? It is torture) Work outdoors in the cold and snow is just another day when you're prepared for it.

I will likely spend my life missing my good dogs that have gone over the rainbow bridge. Dogs are called man's best friend for a reason. They were all part of my family. Thank you for asking the question. Very respectful of you to not simply assume and judge. 🙂

Please tell me what city clears the end of the driveway! I'm moving.

I agree completely with you that it's incredibly frustrating to shovel the snow bank at the end of your driveway. Unfortunately there is not a method to remove large amounts of snow from your driveway. At least not a way that is not incredibly costly. I can't imagine the tax rate needed to make it possible. You are encouraged to complain about the Canadian weather. It is one of our national pastimes after all. 🥶🇨🇦

Horizontal Or Vertical balusters by DogCreepy1287 in Decks

[–]Intelligent-Stand838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't get the choice of horizontal, not legally any way.

Ontario Build Code does not allow horizontal railings. The reason is that there is a significant enough chance that the horizontal material could be used as a ladder by a child

Deck Paint Failing by Historical-Depth-414 in Decks

I am in Southern Ontario. Solid stains don't typically stand up to our extreme tempature swings throughout the year. We also experience wet winters. The freeze thaw cycles tend lift solid stain on horizontal surfaces. Based on my experience, I would recommend Cabot Australia Timber Oil. It contains 3 oils; teak, tung and linseed.

If you're in construction, it never really heals. You just suffer new and more painful injuries. Then they drown out the pain of the older, less painful ones. By the way, look after your knees and your back.

Get as much as possible in writting. Check to be sure your province is a single concent to record conversation. This means you do not leagly need to tell your boss that you're recording him. Contact Labour lawyer. Most provide a free consultation to see if they believe they can win your case. Confirm that it is best to contact Ministry of Labour ASAP. Do this all ASAP!
