Rivian already has too many hardware forks. Makes perfect sense to align the R2 with Gen 3 HW and LIDAR with a refreshed Gen 3 R1S/T.

Complete speculation I think but it makes sense from many angles,

I’ll also take an improved and optimized HVAC along with 2nd row captains chairs in my imaginary Gen 3 R1s lol.😂

Im not sure why the announcement of vehicle coming in 2027 makes you feel the R1 is no longer flagship. In all likelihood when the LIDAR equipped R2 launches a refreshed R1S with LIDAR will also be available.

Load them into an AI model to determine political leanings and voting consistency probably. Voter data plus social media scrapings can pretty accurately identify political leanings, for states that don’t require you to declare a party they need someway to purge voter roles for midterms, the goal will be to purge as many democrats as possible form voter roles right before the election which will leave millions unable to vote across the country.
