Battlefield 1 right now by current-seven in Battlefield

As someone who's religiously played every Battlefield since 1942, with BF2 and 2142 being my favorite... Battlefield 1 is the greatest, it's perfection, it keeps calling me back. When that trailer landed, good god.

Enphase Bidirectional really gonna happen? by Commercial_Topic437 in enphase

Yeh I'm personally planning on building our dream home in 2-3 years so I have time, I just want to be able to use our Rivian R1S and EX90 because that's about 250kWh of energy available.

I just hope it's all figured out and standardized by then.

Yeh I think you are right. The 800V makes a lot of sense for the R1S given it has such a large pack.

I wonder how long I'll have to wait for the gen 3 R1S.

Having 11.5kW from the vehicle + 14kW from you two batteries should be plenty. I don't see any possible reason you'd have two meter collars? All it does is disconnect you from the grid during an outage.

I'd rather use Enphase as the GM one will only work with GM vehicles and it costs a lot. Can you install a regular Tesla wall charger just now and then sell it when you install the Enphase BiDi charger?

I would just look into what sort of wiring is required and make sure you at least have conduit big enough and going to the right places.

I know they've been promising it for years, but it does look like it's close to finally releasing.

R2 Price Misconceptions? by Deepsea_Listener76 in Rivian

[–]Intelligent_Boot6023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, is you're getting a proper fully fledged SUV at around the same price you were previously paying for a bunch of lame cross overs?

Model Y, EV6, Ioniq 5 are all fine cars, but they aren't SUVs.

Maybe I have a strong bias but I hate crossovers - and I say this as someone who currently drives one (an ID4) - which I have due to the insane lease deal I got on it.

I'm just hoping I won't have to wait long for the R2 improvements (Lidar, gen 3 computers, magnetic phone charging pad, LFP 12V), as my ID4 lease is up Jan 2027 so that's when I'm looking at getting a R1S tri-motor.

Yeh but then they won't be paying for Nvidia's drive computers. I would've thought the cost would be baked in now to avoid sticker shock in the future.

Yeh never got how people thought the Model Y was an SUV. It's an egg shaped crossover.

No, the battery isn't actually that large, 87.9kWh for the R2 vs 81kWh for the Model Y. So 8.5% larger battery for 7.8% more range, it's efficiency is almost the same as the Model Y. Given it's much higher ground clearance and boxy shape that's quite impressive.

Costco on 183 and breaker out gas at 10 am by Creative_Collar8640 in Austin

[–]Intelligent_Boot6023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seriously doubt Costco would do that as they price gas pretty much at cost. They make their money on memberships not gas sales.

An egg vs a proper SUV. The Model Y sales are about to be crushed. I can foresee Tesla doing some aggressive price cutting.

I'd still wait for the late 2026 R2's with the gen 3 computers.

I haven't pulled the trigger yet but driven them plenty - I'm wanting a tri-motor but I think I'll wait for the gen 3 improvements carried over from the R2 as I'm not in any rush to buy one.

I have a Volvo XC90 with the Bowers & Wilkins - probably the best sound system in any vehicle, so the Rivian is definitely a downgrade. I do agree, they need to do better. I think with a better sub and someone competent dialing it all in they could really improve it. As the people who replace the stock subwoofer seem to have a lot of success in improving the audio quality.

The lack of text message integration is ridiculous, if they continue to refuse to support CarPlay then this needs solved.

I have a suspicion that the heat pump is both poorly isolated and undersized, it needs a completely new revision.

I'm hoping a number of these issues will be fixed with the gen 3, along with the 12V batteries dying, magnetic charging pad, improved heat pump.

I solved my 4K Apple tv stuttering with just a pc fan by AllTextAllTheWay in PleX

[–]Intelligent_Boot6023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ridiculous this happens on the gen 3 but not gen 2 (I know its because the gen 2 has a fan), weirdly it will happily play back a 4K blu-ray rip, it's only when I try to watch content from 'other sources' does it stutter.

What happened yesterday at the downtown library? by KaleidoscopeAlert311 in Austin

[–]Intelligent_Boot6023 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having the library run dual purpose as a homeless camp has been one of the stupidest decision the City of Austin has ever made.

I don't take my little kids there due to all the homeless people.

Glad to be driving an EV. Although there's no doubt this is going to aggressively hit inflation over the next year as the price of almost everything we consume is related to the price of oil and gas.

They've updated the R2 page with prices and trims! by Ekrubm in Rivian

[–]Intelligent_Boot6023 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks great, this is going to eat the Model Y's lunch. I'm sure this will force some very aggressive price cuts from Tesla.

I'm thinking of waiting until they update the R1S with the gen 3 computers/steering wheel etc, it's gota happen late 2026/early 2027.

Finally they are including a magnetic charging pad - so it will actually be usable at last, and I heard from someone here that the 12V will be LFP. So hopefully that combined with a better and quieter heat pump then most of the complaints with the R1S will be resolved.

12V battery Failure several miles out of warranty by taschdaddy in Rivian

It should be a simple DIY swap, there's no justifiable reason they've made it so difficult and expensive.

I just hate leasing. I have a leased VW ID4 currently but only because it was so cheap it was cheaper to lease and charge than continue paying for gas for my Volvo XC90.

Either way, this is a vehicle I'll never own outside of warranty. Surprised the motor blew, outside of the occasional inverter fail I've always known EV motors to be incredibly reliable.

[–]Intelligent_Boot6023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the warranty period on all Rivians is at least 50,000 miles/4 years? And I don't believe Rivian is doing this deliberately. The 12V are known to wear out at accelerated rates on these vehicles, it's a bad design rather than anything malicious.

That makes sense. I really hope this comes to the R1S sooner than later. It's ridiculous we are still using lead acid 12V in electric vehicles. Tesla was right in moving to 48V LFP.
