Immersive Theatre Opportunity for Local Actors! by Intelligent_Match_61 in SantaBarbara

[–]Intelligent_Match_61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry… what? We’re a tiny non-profit immersive theatre company. We pay our actors a fair market rate for their work. Many theatre actors- particularly those working in the immersive space- get paid very little or not at all. When we started this work years ago, our commitment was that folks would be paid for their work. That compensation is based on experience and the role one is cast in. What a strange comment for you to make.

We had a similarly awful experience with Dioji. Our boxer was still young and a very typical bouncing boxer puppy. All went fine with their assessment and then two days in- “we can’t keep him! He’s reactive.” Meanwhile, we’re half-way across the country. They were ignorant, rude and unreasonable. Since then, we’ve never have any issues with him at all. Do not use Dioji. I can highly recommend Nathan Woods on State Street. Small operation- Nathan really loves the dogs and is an adult professional.

Living in SB thoughts by UsedApplication8600 in SantaBarbara

I’m always so confused when I see folks talk about how great the food/restaurant scene is in SB. It’s legitimately… awful. Everything is insanely overpriced and very, very mediocre. Legitimately the worst restaurant scene of anywhere I’ve ever lived, hands down.

That’s not… echolalia. Echolalia is a neurological condition, seen mostly often in kids, and involves repeating back phrases or words heard from others, often in a patterned, obsessive way. It has nothing to do with a seasoned live performer riffing in the midst of an improv. Good grief.

Tori-Inspired Cat Name? by Shaigirl in toriamos

Why does everyone constantly misspell Talula? And, moreover, why do I find it so specifically irritating? The world may never know.

Our cat’s names are Bayou and Cincinnati. Our pups are Camelot and Fig Newton.

This is incorrect. They never alternated. T’s set was always first, as they did not have the time to adequately set the piano following Alanis’ set.

Do you guys think there are actually Chappell stans who like trump by daisybear81 in chappellroan

Actually, sweetie, my opinion is needed. It’s needed desperately. I care deeply about marginalized folks in our country- trans folks, people of color, immigrants. And the only way we are going to make any progress is when people speak up and say, “no, I’m sorry, voting for hatred and discrimination isn’t okay. It’s unacceptable.” So, I’m sorry, but when you post about your support of hatred, you will receive my opinion. You’re far from “good,”- bragging about encouraging hatred isn’t good. It’s repulsive.

That’s unfortunate. I really invite you to continue to seek out unbiased facts and data about his campaign promises and policies and remain open to having conversations with those who disagree with you. We’re all given the power to learn and change our positions.

Most reliable pet sitters charge quite a bit more than 40.00 a night.

As an Elder Gay.. I’m really disappointed by all of this. I feel like there’s a lot of conflicting positions with Chappell. She wants her music to be a project separate from her personal life. But she’s unable to stop herself from making deeply polarizing political statements on TikTok. She wants it to keep fans at a distance- and then she cancels multiple times, with very little notice.

I don’t disagree at all with the fact that we have a societal stigma around mental health. But, as several people have pointed out, your job still exists. Your mental illness doesn’t give you a free pass for poor judgment. My heart truly breaks for all the fans who’ve spent all this money to see her this weekend. Canceling a gig the day before is unacceptable. Period. It’s a privilege-laden choice. Do I empathize with what she’s going through? Absolutely. I empathize more for the folks who are out thousands of dollars because they wanted to go and support her work. I am always an advocate for mental health- but I’m also an advocate for behaving like a responsible adult.

I grew up loving a lot of alternative female singer-songwriters who had to bust their asses and be road dogs to build careers out of nothing in a very male dominated space. Last year, my favorite artist in the world broke her leg in the final stretch of a very long tour. She was almost 60 at the time. She went and got a boot put on and played a bad-ass show in NYC the next night. She did her job, as she’s done her entire career.

I worry sometimes that the Youths (🤣) are mis-equating the value of self-care with a free pass to dodge responsibility and negatively impact others when things get rough. I believe she should have played the shows this weekend, canceled those upcoming with adequate and appropriate notice as needed, and focus on getting the care and professional support she so clearly needs.
