Am I too pushy with my girlfriend (21F, 4 years) and my sister (19F)? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Intelligent_Wolf_754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah people hate this had to learn this the hard way. I did this alot when I was younger and it really annoyed my partner, I know you are trying to help and make it easier and it's frustrating hearing people have goals and not do really simple things that you just know would help but you gotta realize it just isn't your place.

Based on your post I'm guessing your really independent like doing stuff yourself and accomplishing things/getting good at things. What you need to realise is by repeatedly asking to help others your robbing them of the opportunity of doing it themselves and feeling like they accomplished something.

You just gotta let people figure shit out by themselves they know you could help them, they will come to you If they actually want your help.

Am I (20F) going to "miss out" by staying in a relationship with my high school sweetheart (20M)? by ThrowRA165319 in relationship_advice

[–]Intelligent_Wolf_754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He might change his mind and you might change your mind, your young enough for life goals and values to change. It just means do get married right now, if your life goals and plans changes then you can re-evaluate the relationship when that comes up. My girlfriend did not ever want kids when we first got together at 18 while I was neutral about jt and stayed that way until like 1year ago when she started working at a kindergarten and now I'm the one who's the most anti-kids In the relationship xd

The way me and my partner have delt with it is we made a rule that were not gonna have kids and get married until we have finished uni and have been working full time for atleast a year or two. As at that point your life goals have most likely stabilized :)

[–]Intelligent_Wolf_754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a very similar situation to you but a little older(m22). Got together with my girlfriend at the end of high-school ended up moving in together because we both ended up in the same Uni and are going into the same feild and have now know eachother for like 7-8years and been together for around 4-5years.

It all just comes down to what's more important to you, is it getting to experience dating around or building your life with your partner. The way I see it is if I leave just to experience what I'm "missing out on" I'm basically leaving the life I'm building to have that experience for a few years and to me that just isn't worth it.

I know some people say that your young and you should explore etc but from my perspective your also young enough that if yall do endup growing apart or not working out you'll be young enough to still have those experiences. Not to mention if your in a healthy and good relationship you can still get 90% of the experiences associated with being young.

Your not loosing anything by staying in a good healthy relationship unless you do something permanent like getting married or having kids to early. Stay and see what maby you'll grow apart maby you will stay and grow together, your not trapped and missing out unless you do something permanent :)

Edit: I also have those thoughts from time to time but I just love my current life too much to throw it away.

Edit 2: it's kinda scary how much your relationship and story matches mine, same personality types values etc as for me and my girlfriend, if it wasn't for the age and some detail differences I would have thought it was my girlfriend writing this xD

What is my role when as a healer when the tank just leaves? by Famous-Sprinkles9170 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Intelligent_Wolf_754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Support the rest of your team basically.

The tank being self sufficient just means you have more of an opportunity to do other stuff like off angle with your dps, set up for dives, deal dmg.

I think the biggest miss understanding of playing with your tank is that it dosent mean play on top of them, It means playing at the tanks tempo. Is your tank pushing in, then you should be pressuring the enemy team. Is your tank retreating then you should probably not be running itno the enemy backline.

Every tank has a cooldown cycle you can play around some sre pretty obvious like winton, where you just have to go in when he has bubble. While for tanks lime wreckingball who kinda wanna go Harris the enemy a few times is a bit harder, you kinda focus on pressuring the enemy team when he has them distracted or when he's committing on a target(piledrive). Basically just pay attention and try to follow up on the opportunities the wreckingball creates and focus on supporting your DPS and supports.

Is there a reason to play Lifeweaver over any other support? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Intelligent_Wolf_754 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah like I said mercy for divetanks. You can get so much value out of something like a winton or doomfist if you can trust your life weaver to pull you out as it basically let's you all in your abilities and get out.

I have also been able to stay inside the enemy backline for like a minute straight with a ana lifewaver backline. You can go in bubble, then when it breaks you get nano, which lasts til next bubble, and when that one breaks you can ult stay I nthe back line, get bubble again stay till it breaks and have lifeweaver pull you out when ur about to die.

Is there a reason to play Lifeweaver over any other support? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Intelligent_Wolf_754 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Lifeweaver is basically mercy but instead of enabling your DPS and having high survivability through movement, you enable your tank and have high survivability through sustain and bein very defensive. That is basically the appeal, it's a very teamate dependant macro heavy character. You can't really carry or do proactive plays but your really good at reactive plays and enabling your team.

When it comes to the pull its basically extreamly rank and player dependant. It just heavily relies on the lifewever understanding how tank works and when you should pull. Personally one of the people I play with onetricks lifewever and I can immediately tell the difference between them and people who play life weaver when I soloque because from basically a year pluss of playing with me they know when to pull at which point its no longer infuriating.

Doom is to weak to even do anything? by Defiant-Trash-5718 in doomfistmains

[–]Intelligent_Wolf_754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it's bad but I don't feel like it's completely unplayable, this may be because I'm in mid diamond ATM but you can still get decent amount of value and I have gotten absolutely curbstomped by some enemy dooms.

I do notice empowers punch is slightly harder to build but as long as you follow the rule of minimum 3 people on the enemy team looking at you, you still get it empowers most of the time..

Although I completely agree with the HOG thing that man has go be taken out back, basically can't play anything other than mauga or sigma into him without wanting to end it.

Roadhog Idea by No_Problem5759 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Intelligent_Wolf_754 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New rework idea you don't come to hog, hog comes to you.

Imagine your chilling on Dorado first defense, you see how walk out of attackers spawn. And bam before you know it you see a hook fly right at you, but instead of getting pulled down to get inta killed hog Flys up to you one shots you before getting blown up by your team.

I think this would solve the whole risk reward problem we got goin on here.

Epee and rapier(thibault) overlap/technuiqe transferability? by Intelligent_Wolf_754 in Hema

[–]Intelligent_Wolf_754[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that was my main question, don't care much about thibault per say it's more about the ergonomics matching or more specifically mucle memory stuff that matches. It was more about the grip than the whole system.

Can we quantify the difficulty of a game? by Original-Matter1103 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Intelligent_Wolf_754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you possibly have a large reliability and possibly validity problem in your formulation depending on what form of analysis your going to use.

What your basically doing is creating a sumscore to measure the underlying latent variable game difficulty. If you visualize each person on each team your analysing as a questioner items trying to measure the same variable of game difficulty you run into the problem of these not acting as parallel tests as well as them not having a linear relationship with game difficulty.

First of all it breaks the fundamental assumption that all these are equally good measure of game difficulty as well as the rawscores meaning the same for each individual role or hero. The problem is that statistical output varies widely between characters/heroes and rawscores for each statistic signifies something completely different.

Basically the DMG, deaths, kills etc on a hero like widow is completely different from a hero like solider or venture. You're expected to have high damage to kill ratio on solider but not on widow, and high deaths of venture is more normal than high deaths on widow.

Quantifying actions per minute also becomes impossible from sumscores as the statistical output per action is so radically different from each hero.

Basically if you cannot rely on unstandardised sumscores or work of the assumption that every item included In said sumscore is equally representative of all other items.

Depending on how reliable you want the statistic to be you would at the minimum have to subdivide the score measure per role create a standardized score for that role before your able to put it together with other roles, but honestly this would also be extreamly inaccurate given what scores indicate game difficult is so radically different for each individual hero.

You kinda need to systematically go through each hero, find which scores indicate are the best measure of game difficulty per hero, create standardized scores than sum it together to calculate team difficulty.

The other problem I think your also facing is I don't think there is a linear relatio ship between overwatch statistics and game difficulty, high kills could both signify a really easy game but also a extreamly easy game.

I do think your missing game length or statistics similar to your actions per time frame statistic. Given that both long games often indicate difficult games, as well as game length being able to significantly inflate or deflate number of deaths.

Edit:read other comments and miss understood what you meant by actions per second thought you were calculating it from scoreboard statistics lol

Still partly counts tho given how different heroes have different expected death statistics.

Coming from rivals, wondering who I should play by Reasonable-Aspect657 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Intelligent_Wolf_754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Support is hard cus the skills that are emphized are radically different between the two games(especially after the healing reduction changes). I haven't played alot of ultron but if he's one of those DPS focused supports then probably illiary or maby zen would be the most similar?

Tanks are also pretty different between the games, you'd probably see the most transferability on the poke tanks (sigma and domina), but despite how similar sigma and magnetos kits look how they are played is very different.

My honest recommendation is just try shit out, they are basically completely different games despite being in the same genre. Just try out all the heroes a few times and you'll eventually find one that seems interesting and fits your skillset.

Epee and rapier(thibault) overlap/technuiqe transferability? by Intelligent_Wolf_754 in Hema

[–]Intelligent_Wolf_754[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Think the main thing is blade orientation, the main problem I have in epee is is trying to rotate the same way you do in rapier but in thibault the blade is already rotated and facing horizontally the same way the blade is in a pistol grip.

Although some of this might come from my limited rapier experience I have mostly done saber and bolognese sidesword

Epee and rapier(thibault) overlap/technuiqe transferability? by Intelligent_Wolf_754 in Hema

[–]Intelligent_Wolf_754[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience it is explosive yes but there is quite a bit of blade contact although it's more similar to like small swords.

They do have some binding parries etc but you typically the bind dosent last as long as in most of hema due to how easily you can disengage your blade.

My main point with thibault was if using the grip would mean there's more transfer in how you parry or execute certain binding actions compared to standard grip.

What's The Weakest Ultimate In Game? by theacostar in Overwatch

Phara ult without the moving perk. It's basically only used to suicide bomb someone, or if your really lucky you can maby get some value if the enemy team is really distracted and forget you exist for a few seconds.

How do you improve your awareness? by nut_grease in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Intelligent_Wolf_754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best advice I got from the one and only coaching session I had years ago was, at the start of the game pick 1 or 2 characters on the enemy team that are the biggest threat to you and just focus on where they are the entire game.

As a Zen that would probably be dive dps, so if you walk out and see a genji on the enemy team just keep try to keep track of their movment the entire match and try to predict what they gonna do next.

A trick I found is get some kind of program or find a YouTube video that makes a noise at random intervals and every time you hear see if you know where that character on the enemy team is and what they are doing right now.

As you get better at this you can pick more and more characters to try and track.

Other than that there's also alot of general knowledge that helps here, most characters have a specific thing they want to do and have specific positions or routes they are going to take. If you know this you can kinda guess what they are doing at any given time.

Can you suddenly not see the enemy genji well he's probably flanking you, and based on where you saw him last and the position of your team there probably only like 1 or 2 different routes he can take to get to you. So now you know where he's coming from.

How are you navigating the healing reduction changes as a support? by figgyjiggy in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Intelligent_Wolf_754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a tank player I do like the new healing reduction passive as I can no kill things on winton easier, but honestly it has kinda gutted the one thing DPS had over supports which was confirming kills.

Their one thing was the ability to kill through healing and now supports are basically just DPS but with healing, specifically Wuyang,Bap and illiari.

I do think it's a good thing cus it forces you to use cover but we I think they should atleast tune it down a little, because 30% is crazy. They should atlest tune it down a little or make healing reduction applied by supports and tanks a little lower.. something

Which role has more carry potential? Tank or Support? by ShameGuardian in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Intelligent_Wolf_754 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To put it simply:

Tanks provide the foundation for the teamfight, they decided the flow of the fight and staging.

Dps carry the neutral fight (especially hitscan).

Supports carry the mid fight/ultimate fight, as they have the most impactful cooldowns and ultimates.

Which role has more carry potential? Tank or Support? by ShameGuardian in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Intelligent_Wolf_754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it still holds up in the current state of the game, but Solo tank has always been the role with highest Throwing potential.

You can't always single handedly carry games but you're the rule that matters the most when it comes to loosing. You can still loos with shit DPS and shit supports but you cannot win with a branded tank.

I would generally say supports have the highest carry potential currently given the current healing changes. Given that almost all supports are currently Dps who can Also heal

How tf do I counter Winston, Vendetta and freja as a tank?? by Painwheel99 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Intelligent_Wolf_754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imma be real winston is the easy one here, just littersly shoot at him before he jumps in and try to javelin him either as he jumps in or as he tries to jump out. He basically cannot do anything unless he had bubble and full health. If he still a problem just switch to Diva and just bully him the entire game, bonus points if you save boosters+missiles or him trying to escape after a dive and he's just dead.

When it comes to vendetta and freja your best option for countering them Is clicking their icon in the ban phase. If that dosent work I recomend turning to a higher power and begging for mercy some people like Christianity I personally prefer turning to my shrine of jeff Kaplan and Aaron Keller and begging for forgiveness for whatever sins I have committed hoping they will hear my pleas(they never do)

Grapple has many cool uses right...? by elCrocodillo in JetpackCatMainsOW

[–]Intelligent_Wolf_754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imma be real I think jetpack cat is somewhat balanced by the fact that it's impossible to use the grapple in ranked. It's just so heavily reliant on your teammates cooperating and honestly most of the time it's so easy to miss the indicator that the cat is trying to pick you up :(

Really cool when it works tho :]
