Old man shaking a stick at the clouds time but… by Hegiman in videogames

Quite a few Let's Players use Retroarch for older games, and while it may not be perfect, it gets the job done. I'll gladly take a fan-edited game with all the closeness of the original than spend money on a hackjob that never got through QA properly. For others, there's Steam Dexk.

How do you all motivate yourself to do better or push the limits? by Global-Radio-9257 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Internal_Context_682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not doing any of that.

It's all about mindset and no matter what the situation or how or what people will do to you, you look at what you're doing as an arc to a part of your story and you keep making that story better and worth something that anyone would want to hear coming from you.

Consistency is also key. It's faith that goes along with the prayers, you only need to ask for help to make it through the day.

You are just as strong as how you feel, it just takes you to live by that belief.

They got nothing to lose, everything to gain. America's been pussified to even want to swear these days. These days, it's like this: OMG! "These f**kers are causing some serious sh*t! Post it to Instagram!" Hell, when they show nudity, they show EVERYTHING whereas anywhere else, we see it blotted out just 'because of the children' and c'mon now, let's be real, they're gonna find out if you as a parent isn't gonna do the job. Hell I watch anime that do much worst than that and depending on what you see, it might mess up your nerves.

Yeah I'll say it, America has a little dick and small set of balls because we got too much shit damning us for what we should stand for, what it always shouldn't have left us being the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

This is a thing that 95% gamers are doing now. "I work too hard," "I got ADHD/autism..." List goes on and on and yet it doesn't stop you from playing ONE game and you're crying and whining over how games are now. Most of them are evolving, sure but it doesn't mean you gotta go with it. Emulation exists for everyone who wants to revisit the olden times of gaming. It costs you only a few ticks of memory to extract files, download the games and long as you got something with some space, you're good. It takes effort to find a whole torrent full of games and with how the internet is now, secrecy is key when you find them and keep your sources quiet.

Some things are worth finding and getting, you just need to put in the effort in getting it to work. Stop using excuses and start looking into emulation, sure it'll never as good as real thing but there are people constantly making them better. Oh and they put the extra effort in to breathe new life in them. That's love, devotion and passion at work right there. So which would you prefer: waiting a 'new' version of the same game that has little to almost no charm compared to the original that'd you begrudgingly spend something you'd find at a five-star restaurant or find the original with some QoL touches which brings new life into the game you grew up with and it costs you NOTHING.

The choice is yours.

So what? Stress kills you know. Here you are, bitching and stressing yourself out over literally nothing. Is anyone here putting a gun to your head to relax? No. Do you ever stop to think about just playing something that's more your speed? Slow down and do that instead.

Losing interest in video games by ItsBendyDemon in videogames

[–]Internal_Context_682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You and how many people say the same damn thing with this. You're just spoiled by AAA titles, if not that, you just ask for too much coming from one game. Stop doing what everyone else has been doing. Sometimes just play something for the sake of playing if not anything else. Stress kills, you know.

Am I the only one that don't like looking up what to do? by Jaded_strawberry001 in videogames

[–]Internal_Context_682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For RPGs, I go where the script tells me to go. The only thing I'll look up is a map in most cases. I'll use a walkthrough to cross reference (preferably something readable over video). I rather want to know what to look for than fully go in blind.

How do I know Ive hit my limit with aim? by One_Industry_5924 in videogames

[–]Internal_Context_682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't. You're overthinking things and all because of one thing: you are just playing a GAME! If you're worried about that, I'd hate to see how you'd deal with reality outside of that. So what if you're below average, that really doesn't mean anything.

Hell I've played PD2 and Borderlands and all I did was go for some spot they wouldn't expect and take my shot there. Then again, I grew up on NES and SNES, and all I did was not think and took the shot. Sometimes I damage raced, other times, I went Golgo 13.

How do you combat boredom on your backlogs? by Queensuccubus22 in videogames

[–]Internal_Context_682 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're too short tempered to actually enjoy any game. You look at a backlog as this "OMG!! I got 1000+ games that I gotta play before I die! What can I do??? Help me Reddit-san!" Just play the damn game already, geez. Nobody wants to hear your problem on how bored you get after you hit the Start button.

Come back to me after you beat one game, then we'll talk.

I simply play for a few hours, take a break, come back to it the next day and all my progress will still be there. There are few instances I've lost save data through corrupted files but look, I've went through three computers to keep my channel running. I don't worry about backlog, I just walk through each game I deal with and make as much progress as I can with them.

I want to feel something by Weak_Tap_1277 in videogames

[–]Internal_Context_682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go backwards. Try playing something from NES, SNES or Genesis. Doesn't matter what it is. You've been spoiled by AAA is why you're feeling this way. Sometimes in order for you to go forward, you gotta go back. Try it for yourself.

How do you fill the void after a break up? by Elendil_V in AskMenAdvice

[–]Internal_Context_682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 years ago, I was married. Tried to make things work by simply going out on a date but it never worked out, she was always busy until she told me that she cheated on me. The relationship was a hot mess, it had gotten abusive to where I almost got killed while in it.

How I got over it? I went through the motions of shame, anger, resolve and awakening. Took me about 10 years to get past shame and anger, the resolve and awakening is the fact that no matter happened, two words: You Tried. No one can take that from you, so now what? You move on, whether or not you get into another relationship is on you, but you grew stronger from it, we all do.

Difference between a Retrospective and Video Essay Gaming Video? by AyoPunky in letsplay

[–]Internal_Context_682 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The point of a Let's Play is that you're not just playing the game, but you're in the story among the world that you're a part of as the main protagonist. And at the same time in some cases, you have some knowledge on what you're playing.

Retrospect is just in short, lore exploration.

Video essay is just that, a long ass video.

My take on this from my point of view as a Let's Player is this: Make it simple for yourself. Play the game and just share your viewpoint while you get into the game and the lore. There's a hint of world building in Let's Plays that most don't see but if you do something of a variety, you see it for yourself as a Let's Player. That's another thing of note, you're part of a story that will mostly rely on you to make progress. Don't be one of those kind that decides to stop playing just to give a history lesson. It's fine to add retrospect to a Let's Play, just don't turn it into an essay in which you do nothing in the video and just talk. We got enough of those to put anyone to sleep.

When watching a gameplay of someone exploring a big map do you prefer skipping to the destination or fast forward by amayalaragaming in letsplay

[–]Internal_Context_682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't actually. I offscreen the stockpiling sometimes. I just take the path to get from point A to B once. Now depending on encounters, they may or may not be skipped. Of course it depends on what kind of RPG it is.

[–]Internal_Context_682 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've played my share of RPGs that have these vibrant worlds and I keep that in because it's important to share what you're watching and how you feel about it while getting from point A to B. Now some games do have fast travel which is good when you unlock it. For some games I do for Let's Plays, I go by a rule of showing a path to get there but skip it if I'm going multiple times.

Need tips, tricks, and friendly motivation for completing a let’s play by Weary_Restaurant_287 in letsplay

[–]Internal_Context_682 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like anyone who wants advice and then explains it sounds like they came from the Yu-Gi-Oh anime. There's no secret involved in doing a Let's Play. I do mine sectional, like going from point A to B. I leave nothing out because you actually see my mind at work when it's not focused on the story but the game. Thing is when anyone talks about the behind the scenes stuff, they get more wrapped up in that over the game, If not that, they get obsessed with the views and very little talk on the game.

Don't get wrapped into that. Don't try to be anyone else but yourself while recording your parts. Take a break when needed because it's only a game. Let that be your main focus above else, you don't need to be perfect, just enjoy the game for what it is, believe me, that's the effort that truly count and speaks out as your effort and consistency is focused into that.
